Positive but low HCG Beta - has this happened to anyone?

Hi ladies -

I just received my beta results today. The test was positive but low at 23. I am 10dp5dt. We transferred one PGS tested normal frozen embryo and one fresh embryo (not tested). Has anyone had experience with a low initial beta and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? I am going back in on Monday for another test - more waiting to do. Thanks for your help!

    I'm not sure how active you've been here @fayz22 - but generally these types of questions are discouraged as most of us have never successfully been pregnant (myself being one) and are not doctors to tell you accurately regarding your specific beta results. That is something you would want to discuss with your RE. Lots of women have low initial betas, its all about whether or not your numbers double I understand. I would add a *trigger warning* to your title, and perhaps consider having this discussion with your RE. That being said, congrats to you and best of luck.

    Started TTC April 2011
    Me: 32, DH: 32
    Diagnosis: Endometriosis

    • 2012 - 3 Rounds clomid - all BFN
    • 2013 - 1 Fresh IVF with 2 day 3 embryos - BFN
    • 2014 - 1 Frozen IVF with 2 day 5 embryos - BFN
    • Took a long break, continuing trying naturally
    • Feb 2016 - Biopsy = Endo, DH sperm improved from 1% to 6% morphology
    • March 2016 - Fresh IVF cycle with acupuncture & intralipids: 20 eggs retrieved (17 mature), 7 ICSI'd fertilized, 9 naturally fertilized. 16 total embryos!
    • April 8th - 2 embryos (1ICSI and 1 Natural) transferred. (7 blastocysts frozen), April 18th - Beta = BFN
    • Sept 23rd - Lupron Depot Injection for Endo control
    • Nov 15th 2016 - Started daily Lupron Injections for upcoming FET
    • Nov 22 - Baseline US/BW - Intralipid Infusion - Start Meds for FET with immune protocol
    • Dec 16th FET transfer of 3 embryos (1 - AA, 2 - BB)
    • TW below
    • Dec 22nd - first ever bfp (very faint lines FRER & cheapie)
    • Dec 27th Beta = 192, Dec 29th Beta = 379
    • EDD - Sept 5th 2017

    Sorry about this BETA limbo but we're kinda in the same boat.

    I got my first BETA 3/30 on 9dp5/6dt at 40.6, low but RN was happy with it and ordered 2 more tests. Got my 2nd results today, it tripled to 136.7 and 3rd one on Monday. I know with low numbers we have to tread lightly but at the end it's really about rising numbers. 

    FX, GL and prayers for increasing BETAs!!!

    @chickyclg - they said its lower than they like to see but "not giving up on it yet". 

    I know this is something I should discuss with my RE (and have) but was just looking for other women out there who have been in this boat. This is our third attempt at IVF after being diagnosed with infertility after many attempts on our own, so I know all to well what this is like. 

    @PrayingMom2Be - thanks for sharing your news. I will keep FX for you as well and sending good thoughts your way that Betas continue to rise.

    There is a pregnant after IF board and a first trimester board. They might be a better place to ask for success stories.
