Pets with babies updates

how are all of our pets doing with our babies? better than expected, worse than expected, uninterested? What do the babies think of the fur babies?

  • The cats like to sit in my lap while I nurse, but they keep their distance as soon as my daughter makes eye contact with them :)

  • Hes her protector but has been acting out lately. I think he misses being the baby.
  • Our pets have adjusted well, which is good because we have so many.  The big dog who accidentally stepped on DD has completed training and now is calm and wonderful around her.  He also cracks her up -- DD laughs when she sees the dog coming.  We also have a long haired dachshund who is wonderful and lets DD play with him by rubbing her hands on him (always closely monitored). We have another dog who is older and just ignores her.  And then a cat who also ignores her,  but likes to sit in her bouncy seat when it's vacant.

They all stare at DH and me accusingly when she cries.
  • Our lab has semi-adjusted. He is still jealous and will bother me or DH (whoever is holding DS) for attention, but he is starting to like baby I think. He licks his fingers/toes and will run to him if he cries, and always lays in DS's room while I'm feeding or changing him. We have a long way to go yet though. Our dog cries at night in our new home and DS is sleeping through the night finally....our dog is a baby again.  :s

  • Our cats are mostly uninterested. They do sniff DD's head from time to time and try to steal her toys. She'll get even once she starts crawling!
  • The cat is mostly uninterested, and he tolerated me putting Q on him for a photo op. The dog doesn't like it when Q cries, so he comes over and licks him. Haha. Again, tolerating the photo op. Grandpa and my aunts dog at Easter. Her dog didn't really care about him.
  • I don't know that my cat has realized we even have another kid. She will be near him if I'm holding him only because she wants me and he happens to be there. She has licked him as an extension of me. She was more freaked out when DD came along because she cried so much. DS hardly ever cries - only when hungry or really tired.

  • We have three cats, and they don't care one bit about Rhys, except for when he's right next to them and squirming or yelling.  One has actually rubbed rhys' face with his own, but none of them have ever jumped in the crib while he was in there (which was something people would not shut up about before he was born).

  • Cheyenne, our German shepard/pit mix I'd the most protective of him other than our 2 Goldens. She attacks the vacuum if it gets to close to him
  • I had literally just put the sleeping baby down and this happened. But she's not jealous or anything...

Sadie likes to feel fenways hair!
  • @evek14 Sadie has beautiful hair!!!
  • I have a Yorkie terrier and since the baby got home she's been very jealous and territorial I noticed the only time she poops in the house it's always underneath the baby swing and I woke up this morning to find that she pissed all over my babies play mat (not the first time -__- ) I think she's trying to cover up my daughter scent with hers and has not yet accepted her as part of the family I keep a close eye whenever the dog is around because I don't want her to do anything to my baby but I'm trying to include my dog in with my daughter like if we sit down and play all encourage her to come over and see if the baby and play with her as well we'll see if it gets any worse. Ifso then she'll have to spend more time outside. Sorry im not sorry
