Did baby look how you expected?

Quite a while back I remember there was a thread where we talked about how baby might look. I'm curious if anyone was right.

I had said then that I wouldn't guess after DS. Hubby and I areally both very fair skinned. Hubby has blonde hair and blue eyes. I have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. DS has blonde hair and blue eyes. DD has dark brown hair and everyone currently thinks her eyes will be green as well she's more olive skin tone.

Re: Did baby look how you expected?

  • DS literally is a perfect mash-up. He has my nose and eyes, DHs lips and hair and cheeks, and what looks like my skin tone. :)
  • Loading the player...
  • I have pictures of DH as a baby, and DD is almost identical. He's 6'5" and her legs are already crazy long. The only difference is that she likes to stick out her tongue.
  • I had an ultrasound around 30 weeks and the baby looked exactly like me. But when he came out, he looked exactly like my husband. We figured out that he looks like my husband when he's awake and more like me when he's asleep. He actually looks exactly like the ultrasound pic when he's asleep. It's funny how it really created a mash up of both parents in ways you wouldn't expect
  • She wasn't what I expected at all. She's one million times more beautiful! She has jet black hair just like my husband and huge eyes just like me. She's the perfect combo. :)
  • We had 2 boys already one looks just like me and one looks like dh. The new baby boy looks like a perfect combination of the 2.
  • He looks quite a bit like I expected. We had three 3D scans, one at a boutique and the other two at the Dr's office (we didn't know they did them there or we wouldn't have bothered with the first). At the 17 week ultrasound he already looked like his daddy, including the big forehead. Thankfully, he has his dad's skin tone. I'm very light and hate how easily I burn. It surprised me though how many features he inherited from my own dad. He has his grandpa's ears, hands, feet, nose and red/brown hair color and SO's eyes, forehead and hairline.

He looks like a perfect mashup between my father and SO, he looks nothing like me. It's kind of crazy.
  • It's funny - I really had no guesses, but from the 4d it looked like she had DH's lips and nose. Now that she's here though, she looks a whole lot like me. I guess she just needed to fill out to see it. But DH's mom keeps saying our LO looks just like DH. I think it's just wishful thinking on her part.
  • I expected a baby with hair and brown eyes and I'd say from skin tone, hair and eye color baby looks quite a bit like I did as a newborn.
  • Yes actually. I expected her to look just like her dad. Which she does. Her 4d ultrasound was so clear do I had a pretty good idea of her little face before she arrived. I did not expect her to be so small but otherwise, yeah, not a lot of surprises. We did one of those cheap "what will our baby look like?" app and it predicted it perfectly.

We had no clue what to expect... though I am pretty sure my daughter looks like my husband. He says it is too soon to tell, but her hair is bone straight (my husband had hair like that as a baby), and her eyes all remind me of my husband. By the way, that is a pic of my husband as a baby and my daughter mid scream, the only time she lets you see the whites of her eyes ;)

  • @Elizabella85 Love that look she is giving!
  • I had absolutely no idea what he would look like...but he's adorable. He is a great combo of both me and DH. He had my ears and nose and DHs eyes, hairline, and skin tone. We arent sure whose mouth he has. We go back and forth. His eyes are still gray so we dont know if they'll end up blue like me or brown like dad. And his hair is currently light brown but is shedding a bit so who knows what it will be when it grows in fully.

Yes, same thing with all my boys

  • My little girl is truly more beautiful than I could have imagined. We had a ton of 3D ultrasounds while I was being monitored for short cervix and it's pretty cool to see how many traits we were able to see that are the same. She is a spitting image of DH, and his baby photos are almost identical to her. She has my face shape though.

It's a good thing she looks like DH because we somehow got pregnant naturally in the middle of IVF sessions due to severe MFI and he would joke he would take me on Maury one day. One look at her and there's no denying her, lol.

  • We did the 3D scan and we thought he looked EXACTLY like his daddy, but when he came out, everyone has been saying how much like me he looks. I can't really tell either way right now. To me, he looked like his own little self and he is perfect. <3

  • I wasn't sure what she would look like . I actually thought she would be chubbier and have fuller lips based in the 3D/4d but she doesn't look anything like the ultrasounds. She's skinny and lanky like me. She looks like DH as a baby only with my strawberry blonde hair and fair skin tone.she is just beautiful in every way
  • As she's getting older I'm starting to think more and more that she looks like my mom. Her coloring (except maybe my dad's green eyes) and certain features look like more mom's baby pictures such as her nose and shape of her eyes. I look like my mom some so it makes sense by she goes past that. At least she didn't seem to get her great grandpa's ears like her big brother.
  • Baby Q is a miniature version of DH! It's amazing. They were sleeping the other day and were in the same position, so I snapped a pic. We looked at baby pics of me, and maybe he has my lips and nose, but that is about it. He is definitely his father's son.
  • I would have to say our LO has mix of myself and daddy. He has my dark blue eye color(daddy has always had sky blue eyes), and my face I had as a baby. And my lips. But he has his daddy's ears, nose, and eye shape. :)
  • DD is a lot more brown than I expected lol! But Im hispanic and Daddy is half mexican half german so she had that 75% chance of browness. She definetly looks JUST LIKE HIM. As a matter of fact he made a collage of pictures of him, his firstborn (who looks exactly like him) and DD and they all look the same. The only thing she has from me is my hands (i have crooked fingers which she inherited) and my dimples when she smiles. (Her dad has no dimples). But she is gorgeous and her eyes are hazelly green right now which will make a killer looking brown baby later on if they stick.

  • My son looks more like DH.  When I was still pregnant, DH and I would talk a little bit about who we think he'd look more like and tried to pick out each others district features, that we'd notice right away on our son as: "he has your..." He has my nose and eyes. The rest of him is all DH.  Even being born with blonde hair like DH was, despite us both have full heads of thick brown hair.

I think babies come out looking like their dads at first. It's evolutionary. You always know who mom is but dad is sort of a mystery because there was historically no way to prove who dad was. If the baby looks like him, he's moved to protect it and by extension remain protective of his partner. As babies age, they change. I looked exactly like my dad when i was born. I look a lot like my mom now.
  • I did not really care what he looked like. The only things I ever said was that I wish he looked like his daddy and I really wanted him to have blonde hair. Well whatever hair he does have definitely is blonde and I found a photo album of my fiancé as a baby and they could be twins. So I am a happy camper. Everyone's like "oh he has your nose" or "his ears, etc" but he's five days old.. We're honestly just waiting to see what color his eyes turn out. He is so cute and precious I cannot wait to watch him grow and see his personality.

  • We did a 3D scan too so I knew she was gonna be my husbands mini me! Her personality seems to be more like me though. And it's kinda funny, I realized we stretch the same way when we wake up. She is starting to get some of my features now that she's getting bigger.
  • I never did the 3D scan this time around but looking at the 2D ultrasound I don't think she looked anywhere near what in thought. I think she looks like DH. DD is 1/4 Thai 3/4 Caucasian

  • DS has blond/red hair like my DH. I have dark brown hair and I always thought my kids would too so I was hoping DD would - and she did!
  • We did the 3D ultrasound , many of the features shown on the u/s were similar to mine like the cheeks and chin. When she was born she did look more like me, now that she is filling out and getting bigger she is looking more like DH.

  • Not at first.  But then I slowly started seeing familiar smiles and pudgy faces from the 4D ultrasound.  It was so worth getting they ultrasound...  I couldn't wait to see his smile. (:

  • I really thought this one would have brown eyes. They are still blue and I do not believe they will change. Lol
