Hemorrhoids

ugh. I have internal hemorrhoids and I'm going mad. My ob suggested tucks, ice and mamma bottom cream ... I've used all and I'm still not feeling much relief. She also said any OTC hemorrhoid creams are safe so I bought hydrocortisone 1% - but I just googled and I'm not seeing great results for use during pregnancy.

Anyone have any good, proven suggestions? The itching gets worse at night so I'm sleeping pantsless often with a small dry ice pack in between my legs. Sleep is not coming easy. Thank you in advance!

Stool softeners will help prevent them from getting worse/coming back but won't offer much relief now that you've got them.

No good advice for dealing with them, it sounds like you're doing everything already. Look into a squatty potty or using a stool when you poop from now on, it seems so silly but it really helps!

try a high fiber diet for a full two days....lots of fruits/veggies. Then take a few baths. try not to strain. It sucks, one of the biggest downsides of pregnancy in my opinion!!

I'm sorry - they are the worst and are so uncomfortable. I agree with PP and also try to drink lots of water. I liked the frozen padsicles; try googling them. They're basically frozen pads. Hope you feel better soon!

Take a sitz bath with some lavander oil to help externally.  My doctor prescribed hydrocortisone suppositories for the internal ones. I asked the pharmacist to double check that it is safe during pregnancy and it was. Maybe you want to ask about that?

I had IBS before pregnancy so I think I might have developed some hemorrhoids then.. But definitely worsened since becoming pregnant. Often times after using the bathroom I find that the toilet paper is streaked with bright red blood. Which can be terrifying when you're pregnant and don't know where the blood is coming from so you have to check yourself 50 times to make sure it was the hemorrhoid. Other than bleeding I have no other symptoms.. No pain or itching. Which is weird.

So jealous of roid free ladies.

As for comfort, try baby wipes when you go, not tissue. Even soft tissue is a lil rough when the rhoids hit.

I know it's kind of gross, but I feel like after having a BM (making sure to use stool softeners as necessary and incorporating lots of fiber and probiotic into the diet), it seems to relieve some of the pressure in the roids. Maybe I'm crazy? But when I'm able to finally go and didn't strain, the discomfort seems to taper off.

I also had IBS-C and had to take linzess for it. Definitely worse when pregnant since you cant take much for it. I know what you mean about the checking 50 times lol! I also have no other symptoms other than the bleeding.

Using Preperation-H suppositories for internal and cream for external. So far it relieves the pain but I'm not noticing the roids going down... But then again it's been 2 days.

I tried Preparation H but didn't notice any change after nearly a week. I switched to Tucks and the relief only took like two days. I honestly don't know if they help with swelling or if the hemorrhoids just decided to go down on their own, but the pain relief was nearly immediate. Im hoping they're as effective for the crime scene I expect to see after birth.
