I got some pre-natals yesterday and we are throwing out the birth control officially in November to clear my system before March 2017. He wants a 2018 baby.
But I'm extremely apprehensive that it's going to be difficult. It took my mom close to 3yrs of TTC and I was born with several genetic issues so I'm afraid we might lose a couple.
Would you suggest genetic testing first?
How long of TTC did/would you wait until starting clomid/IUI or possibly IVF routes to help?
I bought the book, taking control of your fertility, that was widely recommended on these boards, thank you so much

Re: 1year out from TTC w/Issues
As far as your fertility concerns, I think it's jumping ahead quite a bit. It can take a healthy couple up to a year of well timed sex to become pregnant. seek help after a year of trying (6 months if you're 35+). Unless there is a condition your mom had that made it difficult for her to conceive that she could have passed on to you, I'm not sure that you should be worried about it before even starting TTC.*

I recommend lurking the TTGP board, and maybe participating in the TTA/Benched check-ins, I learned a ton from those awesome ladies. Start temping with a BBT as soon as you ditch HBC to get into the habit and learn your cycle -reading TCOYF is a great start!
As @micshi said, it can take a healthy, young (<35) couple a full year of well timed sex to conceive - most doctors don't see you until the one year mark (or six months if you're over 35) for fertility concerns. However if you are temping and consistently not ovulating, you would be able to be seen sooner.
I'd talk to your doc about genetic testing pre-TTC it determine the risk of your future LOs inheriting certain issues. You have lots of time so now would be a good time to start!
