39w4d and not a contraction in sight!

FTM, due March 29th, 2016 to a big baby boy. Last anatomy scan at 37 weeks baby boy was 7lbs 6 oz, 95% overall for weight and 74% for height.
I'm 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant, at 29 weeks I had gone into L&D because I was having strong, regular contractions. They gave me 2 shots to stop the labor and it worked. Now, since 36 weeks, I haven't had any contractions, or any real labor pains at all. I want my son to be born by his due date, but that's just wishful thinking. Has this happened to anyone else? I tried everything to try to induce labor naturally, by walking, excersizing, bouncing on my birth ball, spicy foods, sex every few days, and castor oil at 37 weeks and 4 days, but it didn't do anything so I gave up on that one. Last appointment I had I was 1.5cm dilated and 85% effaced, doctor was surprised since this is my first baby, and the appointment I had a week before that I was only 1cm dilated and 35% effaced. I lost my mucus plug 3 days ago, and for the past few days I've been waking up with sharp abdominal pains, but they instantly go away the moment I get out of bed. Anyone think I might have this baby before the end of March? Anyone have any sound advice to ease my nerves of labor NOT happening yet? I just want my son here already. It's driving me crazy.

    I am currently 40+4 and CRANKY so I feel your pain! I can also tell you after going through the same thing with DD1 there is nothing you can really do if baby's not ready to come out. Those are all technically wives tales that may or may not work but short of baby being ready you might as well just settle in... (Easier said than done, I know!)

    I got to 41+3 I scheduled my induction for 41+3. He came 2 hrs before I was due to be induced. I didn't have any real labor signs until 41+2 and they sent me home because it wasn't "real" labor and i didn't progress. But I came back less than 12 hrs later and went from 5cm to 10cm in 15mins. Anything can happen when it comes to labor! Good luck!

    Just posted this for another member with a similar question.

    I had no dilation or effacement at my 39 week appt (baby born 4 days later).  I did not feel a single contraction till my water broke spontaneously the night before the induction.  I had 4 contractions during the 15 minute ride to the hospital and was dilated to a 4 at arrival.  This is my second baby!

    I didn't have any contractions until I had my membranes swept at 40+3. DS arrived 6 days overdue. Also, castor oil is a bad idea, for future reference. Good luck.
