April 2016 Moms

To call Doctor/go in to L&D, or relax?

Lost Mucus plug Thrusday the 24th.
I didnt have many contractions over the weekend. Did go walking on Sunday to get out of bed.
As of today i am having contractions.
I am 36w1d.
My contractions are verifying form 4-11 minutes apart but they are not strong to were i cannot talk, walk, or function.
My belly just keeps getting really hard on me.
Baby is active through some and still through others.
When should i be concerned?
I dont want to worry my doctor.
I went in to the hospital on the 22nd for contractions and i had only dilated 1 cm when they gave me a cervical exam.
We move into a 2 bedroom tomorrow and i have a doc appointment tomorrow. Should i just hold off?

  • Thats what i feel is best. My appointment is tomorrow at 10:40 am.
  • I agree that these sound a bit more like BH rather than labor contractions.  They do not seem to be consistent either.  I would try drinking a ton of water and relax for a while to see if that changes anything.  If they increase, or something feels "off" call your OB!

Also, I do have to disagree with @ashdawn24 on the 4-5 minute timing.  You need to get this direction from your OB.  When you need to call depends on if you are high risk, have any medical conditions that need to be monitored, if baby needs extra monitoring, and / or if you need to be on any medications during labor.

At my OB's practice, a woman with none of the above is directed to call when contractions are a minute long, consistently 3-5 minutes apart for an hour.  HOWEVER, if a woman has any of the above, then when they are 1 minute long, consistently 7-10 minutes apart for an hour, she needs to call.

I can get behind you on that. I just assumed her labour was "normal", but if there are any preexisting conditions or extenuating circumstances,  she would obviously be following her Dr.'S orders.
