Toothache, tooth decay or something!

Hello, fellow bumpers!

Anyone been having phantom tooth pain since the 2nd trimester? for me, it started with gums that would get so irritated, I couldn't chew! The strange thing is that the pain would subside the next day and wouldn't emerge again until weeks later! The doc just said it was hormonal and such.
Fast forward to the last two days, I'd had a toothache on my last molar radiating to the tooth at the bottom. I think it's a cavity untreated, or at least I thought so. I gave the doc on call a ring and he said to just use Tylenol and if I had a fever or if the pain got worse, to go to the ER. Mind you, yesterday was Good Friday and hence, my dentist is closed until MONDAY. Ugh! Basically I was told to monitor it and go to the ER if it got worse. The pain wasn't severe and I could chew on that side, but it did react to cold drinks so I imagine it was a cavity or whatnot. I was just worried that it might be infected and baby might be in trouble.
Strange thing is today, NO PAIN. Nothing. Like if it was some kind of dream. Now, I did put some of that dental filling that is sold at Walmart (since I do feel a small gap in between my teeth, but they could have shifted because I did have a tooth removed in that row) last night s o it may have covered the exposed cavity.
Anyone had experience with this? Does your pain come and go or is it constant? I wont see my dentist until next week.

Yep. I had this with this one and DD1. Your body is making milk which takes up your Vitamin D which takes from your teeth. I've had to get a root canal both times. You get immediate relief though once it's done. Sucks.

ETA: what was explained to me was it is just affecting you not LO

  • I had this. Over the course of a few days a tooth got worse, hurting to the point that I was having a hard time chewing. The pain radiated down into my jaw and I thought for sure I was going to need a root canal. I was amazed by how quickly it came on. Then, suddenly the pain was gone and everything felt back to normal.

My boss had this! She's lost most of her teeth after 3 kids because all the calcium was taken from her teeth and they became very brittle.

Please make sure you're getting enough dairy!
  • Oi, I get plenty of dairy! I drink milk every morning and I've indulged in a lot of Greek yogurt. I will thankfully get to contact my dentist tomorrow!
