Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Back again, this time it's worse

I'm October we found out we were pregnant with our first, I started spotting right after Thanksgiving and they determined I had a blighted ovum and it would pass naturally. Only 1/2 passed naturally and I ended. Up having a DNC on Dec 22.

Spring forward we got pregnant right away again and I was due Oct 18, at about 8 weeks k started spotting. I went in and I measure 6w new due date Oct 29. I continued to spot went in at 7w and it still grew and still had a heartbeat.

I never stopped spotting, so I thought I was ok. Unfortunately it stopped growing at 7w 3d and no longer a heartbeat. I'm going in for a DNC tomorrow.

I just wish I knew why I have miscarried twice now in less than 6 months.

  • I'm so very sorry.

I had two consecutive losses and asked for genetic testing on the embryo after the d&c. The results have been very helpful in my (and my husband's) emotional healing and gave us valuable medical information
  • I'm truly sorry for your loss! I have a very similar situation. My first pregnancy ended in a natural miscarriage on 12/1/15 (was due July 2016). We waited one cycle as advised by my dr and TTC. Got pregnant and was given a due date of 10/15/16. The dates/measurements always seemed off to me during the second pregnancy, but I stayed positive. At what was supposed to be my 8 week visit, we found the baby stopped growing at 6w4d, around the same time as my first miscarriage. I went for a D&C last Tuesday and the dr sent the embryo for chromosome testing. We should get the results in another few weeks. I, too, have questioned why this has happened consecutively, and within 3 months. My husband and I are going to see a specialist to hopefully get some answers. Most doctors won't recommend seeing a specialist until you've had three consecutive miscarriages. I personally can't handle another heartbreak. I definitely do not want to or mean to overstep boundaries, but if possible and affordable, I suggest getting the embryo tested, and looking for a reproductive endocrinologist. Wishing you all the best!

This is so weird you and I have the exact same situation it seems first due date 7/22/16 second 10/18/2016 which got pushed back to 10/29/16. I just got home and they are doing the genetic testing, they're afraid it might need to grow and possibly won't get enough information. I'm hoping there's something.

I'm so sorry! I'm in a similar boat sitting here at 7+4 with measurements at 6 weeks. I'm just waiting for the inevitable and it will also make two losses in three months (original EDDs of 8/13 and 11/5). Hugs. Loss sucks so hard.

H and I are seriously considering seeing an RE. Our OB is sticking to the "3 miscarriages" rule, but the ACOG redefined RPL a few years ago as two consecutive losses with no live births. The RE's website states that 2 consecutive losses may warrant a clinical evaluation (office visit) to discuss personal health histories to see if anything can be done to prevent a third loss. Personally, I have three health conditions that have been linked to an increased risk of MC, and I'm not sure I want to sit around and wait for a third before getting seen.
  • So sorry for your losses. I also had two in three months and it's so damn hard.
  • It is so hard, I was so excited the first time. This time I was cautiously optimistic, I'm nervous that the next time I'm going to be so afraid that I'm not going to get the chance to enjoy being pregnant.
  • I'm so very sorry for you losses :(

  • I'm worried we won't get any answers either from genetic testing since it was so early in the pregnancy that it stopped developing. Fingers crossed we both do! Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way!
I never got an official due date for my first pregnancy. We saw and heard the heartbeat the day before I had the miscarriage, but it was an emergency visit bc I was spotting. With my calculations for the second pregnancy, I should've been due the first week of October, but like I said my measurements never matched up from others I've spoken to that have had miscarriages and were able to get the embryo tested, chromosome abnormalities were found. I'm not sure if this makes me feel any better though. I'm still having a hard time processing my feelings and accepting everything that has happened.

  • I am so sorry to hear about your losses. Your story is very similar to mine. We had our first miscarriage in July of 2015 and our second on Thanksgiving. I eventually had to have a D&C in December because I hadn't past the baby. We were able to do genetic testing and found out why we miscarried. My doctor also ran tests. I secretly hoped for something to be wrong with me, but the baby had a genetic issue. I am not sure if knowing what was wrong made things better for me.
