Food after delivery

This may be a second time mom thing but I have known for months and even told DH as soon as I can when I am in the hospital it is his duty to get me Dominos Philly cheesesteak pizza.  Has anyone else thought about what they want to eat after they have the baby or is it just me?

  • Either a pizza. Or a cheesesteak. Or an italian sub.
Along with a beer to wash it down with!

  • We're bringing food with us to the birthing center in case baby decides they want to be born at an odd hour bc I have to eat before I can leave. But if not at a weird time my doula will actually go and get food for me and I've requested raw tuna sushi. It's been wayyyy too long since I've had it. Here's hoping baby cooperates and lets me get my sushi.
  • I have no idea. I do think about it, but I can't seem to decide.
I'm guessing it'll be dependent on what I want in the moment.

  • I had the most glorious Vito sub from jimmy johns. It was perfect. I suspect I will want that again, but if not 2nd choice is probably sushi or pizza. The hospital ended up having a surprisingly good chef salad that I ordered for every meal. I didn't realize how much I missed deli meat until I could have it again, apparently. Couldn't get enough.
  • 1. I had no idea that Domino's had a Philly cheesesteak pizza. OMG.
    2. Sushi or now that pizza!

They do and it is delicious!
  • I'm hoping that my aversion to beef will go away as soon as LO is born, and if it does I want a big cheeseburger! I haven't eaten beef in months and I miss it.
  • I haven't thought much about it, but if I think about what I typically want to eat after a long hard workout, I'm going to go with a burger, fries, and a smoothie. Iron, carbs, fat, protein, and vitamins.
  • Sushi. I miss my favorite sushi restaurant so bad! I've even told H that it might end up being little one's first outing. :)
  • An Italian sub and a gallon of champagne. Last time it was early morning, so I settled for a sugar free vanilla iced blended from Coffee Bean and a turkey sausage wrap from Dunkin Donuts. Holding out this time for something better, but I was ravenous by the time I got to our room.

Same thing as last time: a turkey sub on sesame  bread with cheese and all of the fixings from Dibellas...or possibly a Primantis sandwich. Or both.

I just hope I can hold down real food sooner than 48hrs afterwards this time around. I was hungry but so nauseated and bloated from surgery last time and it sucked.

Biltong. Still pink with some fatty bits. And then some Droewors as dessert. Yes please.

Eta: this is the most Afrikaans thing ever! My people will be so proud!
  • I want a deli turkey sub. Can't wait.

Yes! I am so ready to be able to finish a whole caffeinated beverage. I've been limiting myself to half of one every time :/
  • I didn't have an appetite last time for a few days? Anyone else? I've heard it can happen.
Yep. People forced me to eat. It sucked, I was SURE I was gonna be bingeing on the stuff I couldn't eat while pregnant. So I'm not counting on craving anything, and if I am, I have a whole host of folks who spoil me and will bring me whatever I want.
  • Yes on the champagne! I am usually a big wine/beer drinker but what I've missed the most of alcoholic are mimosas. I'm definitely having one no matter what time it is! As for food I'll probably have my brother deliver us In-N-Out. Double double animal style :-)
  • Oh I have been craving a roast beef sub from my favourite sub shop since about the beginning of second tri...I have dreams about it!! That will be my request :)
  • Jimmy John's sub and a glass of wine!

Oh you had to say Primanti's didn't you... I want a steak sandwich from there (with an IC light) sooooo badly!

  • I read this thread title as just "Food delivery." And now I want pizza delivered.
And I will probably want pizza after I deliver this baby as well.

  • I  want a Beach Club with no mayo from Jimmy Johns!

The only foods I've really be fully abstaining from are deli meats and alcohol. Therefore, I would like an Italian sub and champagne.
    Yes and yes!!!!

  • I don't really care about which food but have made it very clear I want a blue raspberry rush, an amazing energy drink from aroma joe's coffee. I've wanted one so bad but one is way over the caffeine limit. One of those and a bottle of wine
  • @PYLWhammy - Yeah, I can't think forward that far, this thread is just making me want food now!! Specifically a Burgerville chocolate hazelnut milkshake. Only I overdid it on dairy the last few weeks, so I'm working hard to take a break, I just keep forgetting that stuff besides straight-up milk is dairy. Like milkshakes. I'm an idiot.
  • Blue Moon, a bottle of our wedding wine (that we bought three days before I found out I was KU), and lots of cold cut sandwiches
  • It's become a tradition that I get a big mac and strawberry milkshake from McDonald's the next day after the birth thanks to my mom.  Hopefully she will come through this time too!

Great...after that pic now all I can think about is pizza.  And lots of it.
  • Pate. Just all the green peppercorn pate with crackers, and a glass of red wine.
  • Sushi!!! Definitely some deep fried sushi and then some chicken and avo sushi! I am getting excited thinking bout it! I have already given my order to my best friend who will bring it up to me :)
  • A giant charcuterie board and champagne. DH actually recommended it and I was like YAS! He knows me too well! There's a restaurant a few blocks from the hospital that makes one of my favorite charcuterie boards in the city. I'll have to raid our wine cellar to find the right bottle to bring.

My husband already has my Dibellas order! Ham and provolone on plain with a massive Cherry Coke. Can't. Wait.
  • I didn't have an appetite last time for a few days? Anyone else? I've heard it can happen.

    Mimosas sound good now though.
Same thing for me- I didn't have an appetite for weeks afterward and just ate whatever people handed me because I knew I needed the calories for my milk supply. Later realized I had horrible postpartum anxiety so hopefully I will clue into that sooner this time and get help quickly.
  • Small town options means no options.  I'll just eat hospital food until I leave, unless the dh gets something from a store.
  • Probs an In-n-Out cheeseburger & Dr. Pepper :)
