Will anyone else have 3 under 3?

Will anyone else be in the 3 under 3 club?
If so -how are you feeling about it? What are you going to do for bed/ crib setups? Car seats? Was this planned? (I'm not really sure who would plan 3 under 3? Haha)

I was was super scared at first but I'm starting to feel excited. My worst fears are happening. I was worried I wouldn't have enough energy to play with my 2 boys and yes that is totally happening! I'm really hoping I get some energy back with the second tri starting next week.
I still don't know for sure what we will do for room and bed situations. The boys are each in their own room across the hall from us which is awesome. They are both currently sleeping through the night which I'm praying stays the case!! My newborns never seem to like the bassinet and have ended up sleeping in their cribs by week 2 of life.
We were shocked to find out I was pregnant as I was still breastfeeding and never even got my period back. I was thinking I was just about to finally get my period and wham BFP!
Sebastian just turned 2 and Simon is Almost 11 months.

Re: Will anyone else have 3 under 3?

  • I'll have 3 under 3 and a half. Crazy as it sounds, this one was planned. If time and nature allowed, we wanted to have 3 kids two years apart, why? I don't know. So I got off bc right before thanksgiving and surprise, we conceived near our wedding anniversary in early December :)

As far as rooms, Deklyn and Cameron  have their own upstairs. Our guest/office downstairs will most likely be our nursery until the girls are old enough to share a room. Both girls semi sleep through the night so right now isn't a good time to put them together.

i feel you with the energy levels. I am so exhausted and as of two weeks ago Deklyn stopped napping. It's a new normal , cause you know nap time is mama time!

Overall I'm feeling pretty excited and a little overwhelmed at times. I sometimes ask myself if I am crazy for wanting three so close together especially with absolutely no family around for support and a husband who travels ALL the time. The answer is probably yes lol but I know I can give these girls a good life so I will do the best I can.

Car seats.... Definitely need a new car. I have a jeep now and don't have any room for a third car seat. We are looking to buy before summer. I'm thinking of having my oldest in the back and my two youngest in the front? I haven't really thought about that too much! I guess it depends on the type of suv I get.

    We can DO THIS!

  • Depending on when my twins arrive, I may have 3 under 2!  My son is 19 months now.

I have an explorer but with 3 rear facing I think we are going to have to join the mini van club.  I just don't see a way around it!

We we will be selling our current home buying and moving before these ones arrive.  We are shooting for 4 bedrooms, but the twins will likely share one nursery for as long as they can handle it.  My son isn't ready to have a toddler bed so we need two new cribs also.  I'm pretty overwhelmed with everything right now!

  • I had 3 under 3. DD will be 4 in July, so we'll barely miss 4u4. I love the close spacing!!! My kids are so cute togeter and have amazing bonds.

To answer your questions. We upgraded to a minivan while I was pregnant with #3. You can food three carseats across the back of a sedan, but I didn't want the trouble. I love my minivan though.

I have three bedrooms, but DD and DS1 shared. When DS2 moved out of our room, DD got her own room. Both boys sleep through each other's antics 95% of the time. It's amazing really. LO4 will be going into DD's room. If we have a boy, he'll move in with the brothers when DS2 is big enough for a real bed and we get bunks.

For cribs, we have two only because a friend gave us a second. Our kids transitioned to toddler beds fairly early because they are climbers and I didn't want them to get hurt climbing out of the crib.

Life can be crazy with 3+ little ones, but honestly we are in such baby and toddler mode right now that extra kids don't change much.

  • We will have 3 under 3.5. When this baby is born my other kids ages will be 5, just turned 3, and 16 months. We already have a minivan. We fit 3 seats across the backseat of our Bravada for a while, and now having the minivan is awesome. Our van has 2 bench seats, and on the passenger side there's room to get into the back seat. I have the oldest in the very far back corner (so back seat, driver's side) because she can buckle her carseat. I only have to reach back there to unbuckle her. The next sits on the back seat on the passenger side, she can climb into her seat herself and I can easily reach her to buckle her up. The youngest sits on the middle seat, passenger side because that has the easiest access. I'll probably keep the set up the same when the new baby comes. There's a sliding door on the driver's side also, so I'll put the baby on the middle seat there.

Currently we have our 3 sleeping in the same room. The 2 older have bunkbeds and the youngest still sleeps in the crib. We'll be moving to a different house before baby is born and I think we'll do the 2 older ones in a bedroom together and the younger one in the room we'll use as the nursery. At least for a few months. She'll stay in the crib. I'm going to get a bassinet or something for the baby to sleep in, he/she will be in our bedroom for the first 6 months or so.

It's been almost 15 years so I'm chiming in to give you encouragement- you will survive this and so will your babies!

My first two are 14 months apart and youngest is 18 months behind. So this year they'll be 15, 16, and 17 years old!!!

like @LeahKnits I had all three of mine in one room. We had a crib, a toddler bed, and a twin that had a bunk we could add on when the baby grew out of his crib. The girls started sharing the bunk when the oldest was 5.

We had to buy a minivan because the car seats were too bulky. I don't think they made skinny ones back then. we just went for the minivan. It was the first year Kia released their Sedona LOL and it was actually a good deal.

This sounds like so much fun! That's awesome for all those cousins to grow up together. My kids have tons of cousins 4 and under too, but they all live in other states. We're planning a family reunion for next summer, and I cannot wait to see them all play together. :)

  • Yay I'm not alone! Aaah everyone is talking about mini vans! We have an 8 passenger Honda Pilot. I'm hoping to make it work.
@seitzy3 I'm so impressed you were going for this close. We wanted the first 2 really close but not so much the third too. But of course it will be so much fun.
@bookworm982 that's pretty much how I'm picturing life. Just totally embracing the babies / toddlers.

@mamadomino twins thrown in the mix is going to be crazy! But we have to think this will be awesome in the long term. The kids are going to have such a fun child hood. We are the minority.

Im not going to be doing any errands by myself for a long time when baby comes! Does anyone do errands by themselves as it is? If I do it's rare and I usually regret it. My oldest is a bit of a terror.

I do errands alone if we only have one or two stops. My oldest is 3.5 and loves to "help" me shop, so her job is to grab things of the low shelves. Both bigger kids are great at entertaining the 12-month-old to keep him happy. My baby's favorite word is bye-bye because he lives outings and errands.

I avoid trips with more than 2 stops because i don't want to load and unload carseats that many times.

Once #4 comes, we'll see how errands go...

  • @mhilpisch10 For a while I traded babysitting with my sister. So she'd watch my kids for 4 hours on Tuesday and I'd watch her kids for 4 hours on Thursday. It was amazing. I did all my errands and planned all my appointments for that time. She moved farther away so it just wasn't practical for us anymore. I miss it. Right now I try and do my errands on a day when my husband is home early, so that I don't have to bring any kids with me. If he can't leave work early during the week, I try and do everything when my oldest is in preschool. Like @bookworm982 said, I plan things around how many times I have to load and unload the kids from their carseats. If diapers is all that I need from Target, I'll totally spend more for diapers at the grocery store just so I don't have to make another stop.
  • Yes @LeahKnits We currently just do all of our errands when my husband gets home from work early. Or I just give him a list of things to grab on his way home from work. The loading and unloading and walking into the store with 1 big baby and one toddler who never wants to walk on his own is not fun.

  • We will have three under three as well!  When these twins arrive our kiddos will be 7,5 and 2.5  so it's going to be crazy!  We have a suburban and I'm still stressing about ftitting everyone and minimizing the fighting!  And I'm always the one doing errands alone!  The idea of errands with twins and a toddler while the two big ones are in school is going to be my best plan but still a little terrifying!
