Re: Friday Ticker Change - 3/25/16

  • Week / Fruit: 31/Pineapple

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: We had a good appointment today with our MFM so we are happy. My only rant is I really loathe my swollen cankles right now. Still struggling to sleep well, sore, moving like a walrus everywhere.

Upcoming Appointments: OB on Tuesday, MFM next Friday and I'm sure we will see the Children's Hospital people soon.

    Questions for the group: Nada

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose? We had it narrowed down to Lula and Hazel - I liked Hazel and DH liked Lula (which is my grandmother's name, we were close and she passed away 3 years ago). But after learning that she hated her name (she went by her middle name), we chose to go with Hazel Marie. I saw a medium in January and got to speak with my grandmother, who told me that she loved the name and was glad we went with an old name. :)

  • Week / Fruit:  33 weeks

Rants / Raves / Symptoms:  I have to pee all the time.  If I can have an empty bladder I'm so much more comfortable.  I have a head and a set of feet hanging out down there!  Raves: Both boys are looking fabulous!

Upcoming Appointments:  I started weekly NST's (with ultrasound afterwards).  Yesterday was my fist NST.  Baby A was sleeping and his heart rate has to accelerate twice in the 20 min. period so the nurse used this 'buzzer/beeper' thing on my belly and I felt so bad for him!  He totally jolted awake in my belly (plus I had a small contraction).  Oh well.....he passed the test.  ;)

    Questions for the group:

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose?  We haven't chosen either yet!!  We really need to narrow it down soon.  We won't officially choose until the hospital (when we can 'see' them) but we still need more discussion.  I really like Luke for one of the boys.  Luke is just a random name I like but we also have some family names on the list.  Overall I'd say we like pretty classic boy names.  Our other kids are Hank Daniel and Julia Lane.

@mrstmoose - Bet you were happy with the game last night.  Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!   (says the K-State grad....;)

  • Week/fruit- 31/Pineapple

Rants/raves/symptoms- I am crazy tired and have to pee all the time...I feel more movement than kicks now. I feel closer to her now knowing that I can feel where her legs//torso and head are♡

Upcoming appointments- April5th regular check up.

Questions for group-Up to what size clothes is everyone washing and getting ready for baby? Like should I worry about getting 3-6 month clothes washed and ready or stick to0-3 and 3 months for now?

GTKY- We have not narrowed it down yet but there aew names we like. I would like to have two picked out and wait to see her to decide.
  • @2.red.heads I was very happy with the game last night! Only a few more to go! :)

@BabyL52716 - we aren't overloaded with baby clothes...yet. I have washed everything we have though, primarily because it weirds me out to not have it washed. I would have everything up to 3 months washed just because you don't know how big he/she will be.
  • Week / Fruit: 34/Butternut Squash

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: Are we there yet?? Nesting has taken hold! That's a good thing and a bad thing lol! Great that things are getting done, but man am I tired at the end of the day.

Upcoming Appointments: April 4th is my next appt, then I switch to weekly appointments until delivery

    Questions for the group:none

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose? Baby boy will be Grayson Cole. It was actually a name my mom suggested (She always suggests names and they are generally horrible) it has kinda just stuck. I said we needed a short middle name to go with the long first and last names and Cole fit so nicely.
  • Yay thank you for starting this since I'm not bumping as much now and just now was able to get on!

Week / Fruit: 33 weeks/ Duran (WTF is that?)

    Rants / Raves / Symptoms:
Symptoms: trouble sleeping- mostly because I wake up every time I have to roll over and I'm starting to get overheated, heartburn, my feet are slightly swollen today and I'm just tired. Holy Crap I actually feel pregnant!

Raves: I love her movements- but I'd like her to be a little less fascinated with my ribs, I also find it hilarious that my dogs keep trying to cuddle with my belly and she kicks/punches them. I do wish that I knew which body part she is moving. I know there's only one baby in there, but sometimes I wonder anyway because of where the movement is- that or she's already a contortionist.

Rants: I'd love for a regular body temperature again- but at least it's been nice enough we can open the windows by our bed a crack- it's the only way I've been able to sleep lately.

Upcoming Appointments: April 4th is my next one, though I have a dentist appointment monday, blegh

Questions for the group: None. I'm like @BabyL52716  and trying to figure out what to wash and what we need to buy more of. I'm terrified of having clothes that she won't wear! I've heard many people's kids never fit into newborn size but I hope she fits for at least a week because my Aunt and Uncle gave us some super cute onesies that were custom made so I'd like her to wear them at least once.

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose? We have! Evelyn Leia! Ok so my initials have always spelled ELF (even before I got married), so when we were still dating my hubby declared that if we had a little girl he wanted her initials to spell ELF too so that she could be an ELF too. So Evelyn was an easy pick- we love the name and my hubby said no to Eowyn super fast (party pooper)- so Evelyn it was. We wanted something that wasn't too weird but not super common - I hate having a common name. Then we had to decide on a middle name, I loved the name Leilani- but as we are super European looking (I get called a ghost a lot) hubby didn't love it. Before we knew if we were having 1 or 2 we jokingly said we needed to name them Luke (actually Lucas) and Leia if we had twins (Dad's a twin).Found out we're only having one, but loved the name Leia anyway (YAY Nerds!) and decided to stick with that. So yup, Evelyn Leia it is.
  • Week / Fruit: 32 weeks / Florida Pomelo (ovia app)

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: Not getting nearly enough sleep. I think I woke up at least 5 times last night. I am feeling so tired lately. I was trying to nap right now but our neighbors are apparently having work done next door so that won't be happening any time soon.

Upcoming Appointments: I see my Obgyn and my MFM on April 1st. May try to change one of these appts so my day is less crazy. Had my growth ultrasound today and everything was measuring right on target! Since I've had high blood pressure readings we were a little concerned he may be growing small. I got my first weekly NST at the MFM, and they had to buzz my little guy too! Tried drinking cold water first but that had no affect on him. I'll be having quick ultrasounds and NST every week from here on out.

    Questions for the group:

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose? We are still trying to figure out a name. I feel like we are narrowing it down but we also want to wait until we meet him to make sure that is the name. I'd like to have an idea before he is born so we can get a custom etsy outfit but who knows at this point.

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers

  • Week / Fruit: 31/pineapple/romaine lettuce head

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: Hemmorhoid! I'm so horrified by this, anyone else deal with this yet? My understanding is you just treat the symptoms until after pregnancy, but they don't usually go away until the pressure is gone (so, when baby is out). I wasn't even having constipation or anything, it just spontaneously appeared :disappointed:

Upcoming Appointments: Just had one, so not for several weeks (I go to every two weeks starting at 36 weeks). But my main OB is out all month because she just had a baby! I couldn't believe I didn't notice - I don't see her every time, and it's been a while, but did see her when she must have been 5-6 months along, and I guess her doctor coat just covered everything up! She'll be back before I deliver, but chances of getting her for delivery are pretty random anyway, so doesn't really matter.

Questions for the group: Anyone else feel like things have gotten pretty anti-climactic at this point? Been thinking about this stuff for so long, but the end still feels so far away, that I'm feeling pretty bleh on all baby planning stuff right now. Getting a car seat, getting a will written up, finishing the nursery, packing hospital bags... zero interest in doing this stuff right now, even though I know it needs to happen within the next month in case baby comes early.

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose? Not announcing anything yet because it's not 100%, but just a random name we like. Middle name is tough though - I want a strong one-syllable name, and was thinking of Mae (grandmother's middle name - wish I could use her first but don't love the name Helen). But recently came up with Dawn after joking about naming her after husband's boss (Don), and since then it's kind of stuck. I make all kinds of restrictions like it shouldn't start with a vowel (otherwise initials would be SAC, SEC, SIC, SOC, or SUC... no thanks), can't end in an A (first name does) or a Y (last name does)... so really rules out a ton of options I like otherwise. So kind of process of elimination!
  • @Pascal86 I feel the same way. We have a lot to do but by the time the weekends or evenings roll around, I have no energy. I think we've decided on hiring someone to come clean for us to at least take some of the stuff off our shoulders. I just need to get motivated. You would think my hospital stay would have motivated me but noooooo, I just want to sit on the couch!
  • Week / Fruit: 33/Honeydew - from What to Expect app. What the heck is a durian fruit Bump!?

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: My rant isn't preggo related. I just feel completely defeated at work. I'm just trying to keep my head up and holding myself together for the next 26 working days. Luckily I'm working from home today, because I've been a blubbering crying mess all day long. :(

Upcoming Appointments: next Friday normal appt.

    Questions for the group: none

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose?

We've chosen Asher as the first name. We chose it fairly quickly after we found out it's a boy. Middle name is still up in the air - either Louis (DH middle name) or Reid. There really isn't meaning behind the names we chose, which is completely opposite my DD since her first and middle name combines the middle names of my parents and my DH's moms (Annalee Rose).

    Baby #2 EDD: May 13th!
    BabyFruit Ticker
    Anniversary

  • Week / Fruit:  32/squash

Rants / Raves / Symptoms:  I had my 32 week check-up today and it went well.  DH was able to come along (sans kids!) so we enjoyed the calmness.  I was a little upset that the ultrasound place never sent my report over from my growth scan on Wednesday.  I called them after the appointment and they said they sent it via snail mail (even though they had our doctors fax number...) and they would fax it asap.  Well, I waited an hour and called the doctor and they still never received it.  Now I have to wait until next week to find out the details.  Our LO had an EIF on her heart at our a/s and I was hoping to get the "all clear" after this ultrasound.  I guess waiting a few more days won't kill me but it would have been nice to have the results today.

Upcoming Appointments:  Two weeks from today

    Questions for the group:  None

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose?  We have named all of our kids after cities.  DH and I both hold advanced degrees in geography so we thought it was fitting (although we didn't do it on purpose until this third baby).  DS is Jackson, DD is Sydney and DD#2 is a secret but named after a U.S. City.    We agreed on her name before I was pregnant so there was no question about it.  Her middle name (also a secret) is after both of our mother's and step-great grandmother.  I can't wait to announce her name after she is born- everyone is clueless!

  • Week / Fruit: 35/coconut (makes no sense to me but whatevs)

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: Pregnancy hurts. I'm always uncomfortable. Yesterday and today I had a reaction to the TDAP shot with a fever and body aches, luckily didn't last too long and I feel back to normal now. In can't believe I only have 5 weeks left until my due date!

Upcoming Appointments: This Wednesday, regular OB appt

    Questions for the group: none!

Stolen GTKY: If you've chosen your baby's name yet, how did you choose?

We are about 99% decided on Holly Magnolia but we have a back-up option and we'll decide for sure between them after she is born. My H and I have very different tastes, he prefers more common names and I prefer unusual and/or older names. We landed on Holly after I suggested Holiday - H laughed and vetoed but then said "What about Holly?" I'm surprised at how much I love it but I really really do! H did let me have my fun with the middle name and I'm happy I came up with something he likes too.
  • @BabyL52716 I washed everything we had (today actually) but we don't have too much in sizes bigger than 6 months. It just felt easier to do it all at once.

@Pascal86 I have been feeling the same way but finally starting to get motivated this week. I had a panic moment at work realizing I needed to clean my desk big time which jump started my nesting instinct a bit. I had way too much paperwork on my desk that needed to be shredded or filed and finally took care of it. We still have so much to do at home and only 5 weekends left including this one eek!
  • @LadySamLady I have 9 weekends left, so maybe I'll just forget about all this for a month and then start panicking! Can't believe some of you are so close to your due dates!
