I am unfortunately going through a loss with my first pregnancy. I went in at 12 weeks and they found the baby stopped growing at 8 weeks and had no heartbeat. I had the options of waiting, Cytotec or D&C. I didn't want to wait as it already had been four weeks since the heartbeat stopped and since it is our first pregnancy the possibility of fertility issues with a D&C didn't seem worth it. I took my first dose of Cytotec last night before bed as per the instructions, only one pill inserted vaginally. In the morning when I first went to the bathroom I noticed the tablet had come out. Had some bleeding and clotting but it tapered off. Called the doctor and they said to take another one this evening since that one came out.
My question is I am seeing a lot of posts about people taking 3-4 pills at one time or over a couple hours. Mine only says one 200mg tablet vaginally before bed. Anyone else had these instructions? I doubled checked with my doctors office and they said to take as prescribed on the bottle. I haven't been able to find one story yet that has you just taking one.
Thanks in advance for your answers I am just worried something isn't right.

Re: Cytotec - One Pill?
Regarding it falling out, I wet mine a teeny tiny bit so that they would dissolve easier. And then when I inserted them (TMI) I used a tampon to shove them up as high as possible. Or, you could see if your husband would help (that was my plan B if the tampon didn't work ). However, I did see one pill come out when I passed the sac. So maybe it's normal for them to come out.
Regarding your dosing, I agree it sounds off. Now my doctor did rx a lower dose to help me complete the miscarriage (which I ended up not needing).
I only took the cytotec once. The 800 MG dose. That was enough to jump start my miscarriage and I passed clots for days. I bled 10 days total and spotted for two.
Do you think you passed the sac?
Do you have another ultrasound soon to see what's left?
I wish I had more answers. ((Hugs))
Eta. Maybe call them asked them WHY the low dose??
FWIW, I got the impression it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other in terms of risk of future fertility issues with d&c versus cytotec. I was under the care of a reproductive endocrinologist for infertility issues before the miscarriage, and both he and another RE that I consulted said both the d&c and cytotec were fine options, and obviously an RE is concerned about future fertility.

It's still very fresh in my mind (I took cytotec March 11th) so, feel free to ask me anything.
