Re: Pregnancy Announcements

  • We announced it to parents. We brought pizza to their house and when they opened the box it said. Eat up everyone, my mommy doesn't want to be the only one with a big belly!

  • Here is what I plan on posting in some way. I may add progress images to it. I have not announced yet and probably wont for a while.

  • @evilgreencows5 Oh my gosh way cute!!!

I've already blogged about it and my mom has Facebooked my U/S pic and tagged me and DH in it, so there isn't much to announce. I'm not coming out directly on Facebook and saying it because I know how much it sucks to deal with infertility and see pregnancy announcements on FB so everything is going on my blog, and people can click if they want or not click if they don't want.

  • I really love this
  • I'm running a half marathon around 11 weeks. Getting a custom shirt made that says "running for two" and will have DD wear a Big Sister shirt. We will be taking a pic of that.

  • I wanted to use my dogs in some way I think but want to think of something that's not common, also want to make a slideshow showing all that we went through (fertility treatment) to get to our baby
  • @mrsellmers a friend of mine sent out a card with a picture of their dog with a "my parents are getting me a human!" chalkboard, and on the other side he was "reading" what to expect when you're expecting. It was crazy cute, although I have seen the chalkboard part other places as well.

  • I was just thinking about how April Fools is right around the corner and many people like to play the "I am pregnant" joke. I'll probay text some of my friends that I am pregnant with twins and then say April Fools....it's not twins. ☺️
Also, we aren't finding out the gender so when we finally do post on Facebook I plan on posting an ultrasound picture saying:
    "Pink or blue?
We won't know till baby is due
    So, keep on guessing
    Until Novemever 2nd!"
  • that was ours from last year! now we will prob do a theme of "big brother duty" with baby # 1 announcing this year!
  • Oh of course! I have many friends who have struggled with fertility problems and myself suffered a late miscarriage at 15weeks. I feel for all those who have to go through so much to get pregnant and those who have lost their little ones. :'(  Never would wish that pain on anyone. As far as the April fools joke, I only would do something like that to best friends, who I really know. Never on Facebook!

Just be careful who you play your April Fool's joke to, @NurseMamaB
Totally completely understand the need to be sensitive to those who are suffering, but maybe this "warning" is directed towards those who aren't actually pregnant and using it as a joke? If she's actually pregnant, I don't see the harm in playfully telling people about it. I mean if you're saying this applies to actual pregnant people, it's almost like its saying you can't say anything about your pregnancy on social media at all in order to avoid hurting other people's feelings. It truly is heartbreaking that there are people out there silently struggling with infertility, but I don't think that other women need to hide their own joy and good news, or be restricted in how they announce it.

Edit: one caveat, if telling a friend who you know is for sure struggling, some extra sensitivity needs to be used.

  • So cute @m6agua! I wish I had kept my mouth shut long enough to do something fun like this.

  • This was ours last time...absolutely no clue what we're going to do this time! Something with DD, but that's about all I've got.
