Winning Wednesday 3/23

I didn't see this started yet.

My win is that just when I was getting hungry and trying to figure out an afternoon snack, my super awesome co-worker walked in with about 200 Chicken McNuggets for my department, more than enough for everyone to have 5 or more. They were so delicious and just what the baby wanted!!

PS, sorry no GIF, I never figured out how to on mobile.

  • I have gelato at home waiting for me and after my non-stellar food options today I would have to say that's pretty winning. :)
  • I only have half a day between me and a four and half glorious day weekend.
  • @KidShrink I am painfully jealous of your husband working for Cadbury and bringing you all that chocolate!!

  • @KidShrink Is it wrong that I am hating you right now?!

My husband just came home with this (amazingly full) bag of all sorts of wonderful chocolate (he works for Cadbury). Not only is that a win of its own, but then I've been really good with weight gain, don't have GD and have found my love for chocolate again (it was gone in first tri). Happy Easter to me!

That's funny.. we've both been great with weight gain, no GD, and both of us got our sweet tooth back! lol Mine didn't come back until the middle of the second tri though. You can always send me some of those chocolates! ;)

  • @DanandVan : it's part European, part Canadian. Cadbury isn't owned by Hershey is Canada, so we get much better chocolates than what you guys get in the US. We truly are the best of both worlds ;)
@Charissadeats : I can live with some people hating me. You're South African too, right? So used to the good Cadbury stuff too! One of my old colleagues was from South Africa and whenever I'd come to work with a bag full like that, I had to make sure to save her some of the good Cadbury stuff ;)
@AdorkablePixie : I still have some chocolates my FIL bought me when we went to visit when I was 7 weeks pregnant, at the height of my chocolate aversion. Maybe because those chocolates were associated with that time in my head, but I'm not sure I can ever have them (and it's been more than 6 months now, so they're probably not very good anymore...). Thank god we announced to them I was pregnany then because he would have thought something was seriously wrong with me!
  • @KidShrink Jup South African. I am going to have to get some Cadbury tomorrow when we do our shopping. It's Easter though so I have a good excuse. Enjoy your chocolates!
  • @KidShrink - Your post made me hate you a little bit too... not really, more just sad that I couldn't have those things! A year ago my friend in Ireland mailed me a few packs of those eggs 'n scoops things and they were so amazing, but I forgot about them entirely until you posted that picture. So last night I made my husband go to the store with me to look for them even though I was pretty sure they don't have them here. They didn't, so then I looked for some other kind of chocolate mousse. Nothing at our neighborhood store, so I ended up with chocolate creme cadbury eggs. Not the same at all. Good, but not the same :disappointed:
  • Awww...I'm so sorry @Pascal86 ! I can send you a package if you pay the shipping ;) But I understand how unsatisfied cravings are frustrating.

Umm.. I will repay you shipping to send me some chocolate. For serious.

Also, I don't understand why we don't just have the same chocolate in the US. That doesn't make sense. We like good chocolate here too!! I get the Cadbury crème eggs and the Cadbury mini eggs, but that's it.

  • @KidShrink - Well now I can't hate you at all, that's an amazing offer! I will resist for now because I just ate a chocolate cupcake so can put cadbury out of my mind for the time being, but you're so sweet!
  • @Pascal86 - Do you live near a World Market? They are kind of like a Pier 1 store, but the also have fun food. And by fun food, I mean they have international candy.
  • @missnc77 I do! I'll have to go check it out soon, thanks for the idea!
  • @AdorkablePixie : it's mainly because the recipes are adjusted to the taste and food regulation of the country in which it's sold. The company my husband works for (Mondelez) owns other brands as well, like Mr Christie/Nabisco cookies. Oreos in the US are different from Canadian Oreos, because ours have coconut oil in them (and no trans fat). Generally speaking, you guys get the less healthy version of everything, because we have more regulations about what is/isn't allowed in food. Recently, we ended up with the american version of saltine crackers which tastes like cardboard because the company was looking to simplify their production.
  • @DanandVan - which suburb are you in? I know you already made the switch but my OB is through Hinsdale hospital and they are super VBAC friendly. The practice even offers doulas for a nominal fee. Not that you'd want to switch again but if it is closer might help you out! My cousin had her OB in the city and just driving in from Lisle in rush hour she felt like she barely made it!
  • @mmemartinez I am near Schaumburg. I know exactly which practice you are talking about! I called but they don't take my insurance. They sound great though! This is my 4th baby (csection with #3) so I know I am not one of those women who typically has a quick labor. If my choice is laboring in the car stuck in traffic versus a repeat csection then I choose the traffic! But if you hear about a woman giving birth on the highway in May it might be me, lol
  • @KidShrink So what you're saying is that DH and I should move to Canada? lol If Trump becomes president, we will be there in a heartbeat!

  • @AdorkablePixie : you seem lovely, but no, we don't want a bunch of Americans invading us (not that it works that way anyway...). Cuba is actually quite a popular vacation destination for us partly because of the lack of Americans. You're more than welcome to come and visit though, and then you can bring back all the chocolate you want ;)  And in case you haven't seen this yet, from the Ellen show: https://youtu.be/QxgpMLSK_I8
  • @KidShrink I'm not a bad American though. All the bad ones would be staying here… because they're the ones who support Trump. haha
I wouldn't want to live in Canada anyway though, I can't handle the cold or how much it snows in some places there in the winter. That video was funny. I need to show it to DH later.
