Today we had our first f/u appointment after our miscarriage on 3/3, and I feel so much better with having more information. And a random note of how much I love our Dr.
First was test results, (most of the genetic testing is still out) but so far they feel that chorioamnionitis(infection of the placenta) and probable incompetent cervix was the cause of everything. The choioamnionitis is hard to narrow down because she said that since I went into labor, it could have caused the labor, or been caused during the labor (kind of the chicken or egg situation). Similarly, IC may have been a major factor, but since I had no history, it wasn't something that they were monitoring extra. Unfortunately I had been spotting for so long that if the IC was changing, we may have missed it.
With all of that information, my Dr. let me know that she will be considering me higher risk than before and gave me a heads up to the probability of a cerclage next time. I love that our Dr. takes such a proactive approach, I've had other Dr.'s (not ob, different specialty) that seemed so wishy washy with what treatment plan they offered, I don't want that kind of thing left up to me. Just tell me what my options are, what you feel is the best, and lets move forward. She was also very direct about our next pregnancy and just how hard its going to be to be happy and positive about things until we are past the 14 weeks that this one ended at (but that thats very normal and OK) and just let her know if anything doesn't feel right and she'll get us in to be checked. Again, I love her ways, she doesn't try to brush off the emotional aspect of this and how it will impact us later.
My HCG levels have dropped to 22 as of yesterday, and the HPT urine test that they do at the beginning of the appt was negative, so she said she was fine with us TTC, even if its before AF. I haven't started temping again, but I think I will be starting that again soon. We will probably NTNP for now and then move on to TTC with earnest after AF.
Emotionally, I feel so much better. I just felt like I was hanging in limbo for so long (not that anything is changing immediately), I have been lurking here quite a bit, I just didn't feel like I was having anything productive to add, but I think it is so amazing how supportive all of you are to each other and how sweet of a reception you give to everyone that finds themselves here. I hope to try to participate more, maybe I can help someone the way you all have helped me.

@housewifehobbyist, She did give us alot of peace of mind. And I agree, being able to "talk" on here when needed is such a great help.
@SnobunnieMel, I'll have to look into it more. She just mentioned it and briefly described it, but didn't go into much more detail. Thanks for the info.

@dinosaurjumper We were really blessed with beyond amazing nurses and doctors through this whole process. I had 2 nurses helping me in ER and both of them were so compassionate and respectful. They both came in right before we were being discharged and asked if they could pray with us. Even though DH and I aren't extremely religious, It was such a sweet gesture for them to show that we weren't just a patient to them. We also received a plant and card a couple days later from both the nurses and ER Doctor that treated us. We aren't in a huge city, but still not small town (165K pop), but they went above and beyond I thought.
