What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week?  Eat more vegetable and fruit snacks.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?  Go to the gym 2x this week and walk around neighborhood 3x this week.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week?  Exhaustion has kicked in and its a doozy.

How did you do with your goals last week?  Could have been much better but I have to admit I kept doing the "I'll start tomorrow" thing.  I did get to yoga though and did start eating a little bit better but lots of room for improvement.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering?  I don't have one but I need to come up with one soon or this will be a complete fail lol.  Looking forward to reading some of yours.

  • Ok Ladies!  I'm WFH today and so I decided to drive over to the gym for my lunch break since it's only 5 min away.  I'm exhausted but I'm on the treadmill and hoping this will give me a boost.  Let's et some more check-ins!!

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? stop eating all the cookies.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? gym T/T/S and walk the dog every day

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? I may not make it to my class tomorrow because of my dogs vet appointment.

How did you do with your goals last week? I went to Zumba on Saturday and walked the dog a couple times, so that was good. I missed my workouts on Tuesday and Thursday because what to get things ready last minute for the dog.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? I don't think I have one, maybe the scale?

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? I would love to be healthy this week but I'm just happy with anything I can keep down at this point.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?
Hitting my 10,000 steps a day goal.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? I'm feeling so rundown and the Morning sickness lasts all day.

How did you do with your goals last week?
I was sick all of lastweek with a cold/flu so I was useless.  Hardly even left the couch.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? Having a friend who is also into fitness is great.  I got my best friend into running and we aren't fast or amazing but we run.  Whenever I just don't want to but should I text her and she motivates me.  I do the same with her too.

@TrulyBlessed22Good job getting to the gym!
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week?  Less worried about this at the moment since I'm dealing with morning sickness already.  If I'm actually interested in food (usually just once a day), I'll eat whatever it is with the hope that it stays down.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?  I'd like to get a swim in each weekday this week.  I'd prefer 6 out of 7 days, but still trying to adjust to exhaustion so weekend of rest is more likely.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? MS and exhaustion make actually getting off the couch and going such a difficult mental barrier!

How did you do with your goals last week?  just fine

GTKY:  I got myself new suits which helped me get in the pool last week.  Since the BFP, I just tell myself how important it is for the LO.  Side note: I mentally call it "taking the baby for a swim," for fun now. Also, I have this underwater mp3 player, which makes it more enjoyable.

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week?  Eat more fruits and veggies (though all I want are carbs, sweets, and more carbs). Need to figure out how to get more protein since meat is making me sick

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? Workout 5x (run and pure barre prenatal DVD)

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? Exhaustion!!! Lacking motivation

How did you do with your goals last week? I worked out 5x but food goals are not going so well

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? I'm recovering from an eating disorder, so gentle motivation works best. Right now, I try to remind myself about the baby and that whatever I eat, it eats. Also, I pull up pictures of Jessica Simpson when she was pregnant LOL!

BONUS Bumpie Challenge: Find some time for YOU.  (i.e. Take Yoga, Meditate, Get a Mani/Pedi) That sounds lovely....does sleeping count?
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? Remember to eat lunch and breakfast. I'm never hungry in the morning and usually have a piece of fruit and pumpkin seeds for lunch.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? I want to find some good gentle prenatal yoga videos and start doing those, maybe going to the gym for light cardio.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? All the AnXiEtY....trying to breath, drink plenty of water and relax.

How did you do with your goals last week? I did ok.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? Well now it's the baby! lol. But before it was just overall health. The more I researched what added sugar and chemicals/hormones do to your body the more motivated I was to eat right.

BONUS Bumpie Challenge: Find some time for YOU.  (i.e. Take Yoga, Meditate, Get a Mani/Pedi)....UGH!! I want a many/pedi so bad! I may just do that :)

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? Try to eat as healthy as possible, which for me means to limit the sweets!

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? lift at the gym 4 days, jog 30 min 2 days

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? I have constant low-grade nausea that only feels better when I am eating.  I also find that carbs help the nausea feeling too.  I was eating very healthy before this pregnancy (I lost 50lbs last year), so this is definitely a challenge!

How did you do with your goals last week? Great, I lifted 4 days and ate pretty healthy.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? I like going to The Berry app and flipping through the Daily Motivation pictures/gifs.

Anyone here do MFP, and going to continue MFP through the pregnancy?  Also, any tips to not give into some carb and sweets cravings when you feel like hell?

  • @zzia15 Good job on the weight loss!  I had lost quite a bit of weight before my last pregnancy.  I went crazy once I became pregnant and felt like I didn't have to diet anymore.  Bad idea!  It's tough I know!

Have you tried healthier carbs like ancient grain breads or spelt pretzels?  Same amount calories really, but apparently your body can process them easier meaning blood sugar doesn't spike as much.  As for sugar I certainly can't help you there.  I just got my blood results back and have elevated A1c so that's enough to tell me to back off the sweets.

Good luck.  The struggle is real
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? cut out the candy. Which means I'm going to have to toss out the Easter candy I hoarded in my desk.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? settle into a routine for each day of the week that I can stick with over the next few months

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? I haven't told my workout buddy I'm expecting! Hard to modify without letting someone know why :)

How did you do with your goals last week? pretty well! But a case of the Mondays and a bag of candy later, I have some work to do.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? getting a friend to join me. So much harder to skip out when someone is counting on you.
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? Not a big exerciser right now, but I am trying to get in long walks every day. I am more focused on nutrition. I am trying to stay paleo as long as I can.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? Not fitness related, but I want to eat more veggies.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? I have had a severe lack of interest in vegetables. I am not a big fan of smoothies, but I got stuff to make green smoothies to up my intake. I am also pre-cooking some stuff so it is easier for me to eat it throughout the week.

How did you do with your goals last week? Not so well. I hardly had anything green.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? The baby is my motivation. I am trying to find the most nutrient dense foods to give the little turkey everything it needs!

BONUS Bumpie Challenge: Find some time for YOU.  (i.e. Take Yoga, Meditate, Get a Mani/Pedi) Does laying on the couch watching Real Housewives reruns count? I am super good at that.

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week?
Maintaining my current weight to ensure I gain 5 lbs or less in first trimester. Going to try my best to keep my weight under control!

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?
Get in 4-5 workouts. Got in a run today and yesterday. Going to gym tomorrow so on the right path.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week?
the hunger/nausea has me a little more snack-y than usual.

How did you do with your goals last week?
Pretty great actually. I was traveling for work Monday - Thursday and managed to get in two long walks and an in-room workout for three of those days.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering?
    staying healthy.

    BONUS Bumpie Challenge:
I plan to get a mani/pedi later this week!

Thank you!  Yes, the struggle is totally real.  I do eat healthier carbs (brown rice, quinoa, and oatmeal), but when my stomach is feelings nauseous I want donuts.  Haha!  Or maybe I am trying to give myself an excuse to eat donuts?  I am going to have to look into spelt pretzels, that's a good idea.

were you able to drop the weight again after pregnancy?
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week?  Eat more sensibly.  Almost everything turns my stomach right now so any time something sounds remotely good I eat it.  Lately it has been chicken nuggets, I never eat chicken nuggets!

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?  To get up and move more.  Take a long walk at least 3 times this week.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week?  We are moving... in with my mother in law until we can move into our new house.   :/ Grateful to have a place to stay but...

How did you do with your goals last week?  I am just joining.  I was scared to join earlier because I thought I would be the only one struggling.  Before being pregnant I would work out most days every week and was much more active.  I am having a hard time feeling really lazy!

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering?  Switch it up and try out a new workout or take a new class.

  • TW...... Loss mentioned

@zzia15 I didn't lose the weight between pregnancies.  However I lost my son at 37 weeks and 5 months later I was pregnant again.

I don't know if you are planning on breast feeding but my doctor said it is a miracle diet.  I gained about 30 pounds with my son (not doing that again) and she was never worried and said it would probably come off with breast feeding. Amoung  other things I'm hoping for magic BF weight loss.
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? to stay on point with my meal plan and get the water in

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? hopefully 2 walks

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? Can't run until my u/s friday per RE.

How did you do with your goals last week? pretty good until I started spotting and they wanted me to take it easy and skip my runs this week. Trying to enjoy relaxing

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering? Sign up for something. Having a goal on the calendar always gets my butt into gear
    Me: 30 DH:31 DD:3

    EDD: 11/14/16

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week?  Mine is continuing from my TWW this cycle, but continuing to eat three solid meals a day and snacks,  with lots of veggies and lots of water.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?  Stretch before bed every night with my H and find a back-in-the-saddle fitness plan that works for 1st tri.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week?  I went from an active lifestyle (pretty regular running, Pilates, weight training) to gradually more and more sedentary over the last year.  I took off from a regular exercise this summer when we started TTC because I was afraid it may be keeping away my periods combined with already low BMI, and then we were moving and traveling and my H has been sidelined with an injury.  I've lost a lot of ground but now seems like an important time to start again.  I've deconditioned enough that I don't feel comfortable jumping in where I left off.  I want to get back into it gradually and just need to figure out how to do it safely.  I'm going to ask the midwife tomorrow and see if she has any caution or strategies for me since I'm almost starting from zero but it's not my most "zero" zero ever if that makes sense.

How did you do with your goals last week?  Good!!  My health/fitness goal since we started TTC has been to get my body healthy and ready for carrying a baby and we found out last week that I am.

GTKY:  What's your favorite motivation tactic when your interest in dieting/exercising is wavering?  I second @KKamm917 with signing up for something and bonus if I'm going with one of my friends.

  • No @zzia15 don't feel bad at all!  You asked a totally fine question. I didn't mean to make you feel akward or anything.  I'm was just giving an honest answer.

Breastfeeding can burn about 500 calories a day!  I know that some people it can have the opposite result and they don't lose at all I think most do.
  • Hi Ladies!  This is your mid-week Health and Fitness Check-in!

    How are we doing @m6agua @EmmieAnn22 @MrsDho11 @ANZ116 @juliehollz13 @zzia15 @hfab14 @HeyBooHey @Ash9614 @ElleBell13 @Kkamm917 @VirginiaHam ??

  • This hasn't been the best week for me and yesterday was a complete bust.  With the exception of the small bowl of fruit I ate my meals were terrible yesterday.  I haven't been active since Monday either but I'm just so tired once I get home from work, make dinner, play with DD, do bedtime routine and then finally have time for me.  At that point I'm exhausted.  Anyway, I'm not too optimistic about the remaining part of the week either as we are hosting Easter so I have a bunch of errands I need to run.  Does cleaning the house count as exercise?? LOL.

  • I have been doing ok. I have been able to get out for walks every day. My back still hurts on occasion, so I have to keep the walks short. I have had sciatica on my right side for two weeks ago now.
I have been much better about eating veggies. Lots more greens every day. I did get a desert bar at the farmers market yesterday, but it was gluten and refined sugar free, so I only felt half guilty for eating it. But it was amazing.
I am treating myself to two nights in palm desert this weekend so I can lay by the pool and bake in the sun. I am so tired of being cold! I love to go to the desert during San Diego spring.
I hope everyone else is having a good week!
  • This week has been better then last so that's a positive.  Hit the gym 3 times this week and have done decently with my steps goal.  Only bad day was Tuesday where I hardly got out of bed.  Eating is a whole other story.  Nothing sounds appetizing and I hardly eat anything.

@TrulyBlessed22 Of course cleaning the house counts as exercise.  At least I would count it, haha.
  • @HeyBooHey did you say San Diego??  We were just there last May and I FELL IN LOVE.  Seriously would move there if it wasn't that it's on the opposite coast as everyone I know.  As far as places within the US go, to me SD is perfection.  Enjoy your weekend!

  • @TrulyBlessed22 I love it here, I just hate the weather in the spring when it is foggy all morning and then never really warms up. I feel like I can never shake the chill. Luckily Palm Springs is 2 hours away and it is hot and dry. In all other ways San Diego is paradise!
  • Eh I have been ok. My meals could be better. I probably should eat more veggies. I haven't made it to the gym yet because we were at the vet the day of my class. But I am going today, I am so excited it has been almost 2 weeks since I went, I miss my class. I have gotten out on a couple walks with the dog so that's good. But now we just got like a foot of snow and its cold. Our dog is really skinny still and he gets cold fast so I don't want him outside for too long today.

  • I've been pretty good about stretching every night (except last night when I was passed out by 9:30p).  I talked to the midwife yesterday and I think that running will have to be a REALLY slow progression for me if I pursue that these next 9mo.  Still working out what workout route I want to pursue and I'm looking at classes at the gym.

**question** Do any of you use heart rate monitors during your workouts?

  • @virginiaham only when I'm at the gym and the treadmill has it readily available otherwise no.  The only other 2 things I do at the gym are yoga which I wouldn't need a monitor for and Zumba which I should probably start monitoring given that there is a limit while KU - is it 150bpm??

  • @TrulyBlessed22 I've never heard of a heart rate limit when pregnant.  Is that something you read or something your doctor told you?  My doctor had basically no limits for me when it came to working out.  When I start to show I should switch to lighter weights and more reps and when I run keep my pace slow enough to be able to hold a conversation.
  • Food wise- not great but not as bad as in the past. I'm in no way limiting my food or "dieting" - but I'm using myfitnesspal to try to stay within 2000 calories a day. If i feel like I need more to eat I don't deprive and if I dont feel like I don't need that much I am fine being under. Just using it as a guide to not eat all the sweets

Workout: 3x this week (running twice and barre once).

If anyone is looking for a challenging prenatal DVD, I suggest the pure barre dvds ($20 each). They are hard, but have a lot of modifications for as you grow. My booty is sore today :)
  • I have definitely been more active this week which is a major plus.  I am not really feeling better though and nauseousness has been an issue.  Haven't really been eating better as I just eat anything that sounds remotely appealing.  I am going to count the week thus far as a success though since I have been more active!

  • @EmmieAnn22at my appt this past Tuesday I asked about my workout routine and I was cleared to do all of it but she said I should be mindful of not having a heart rate of higher than 150bpm for an extended period of time.  I neglected to ask her to elaborate on what that meant time wise.  I'll ask at my visit next week.

  • edited March 2016

@EmmieAnn22 I just found this online:

    From: Mayo Clinic:

If you exercised regularly before pregnancy, there's no need to focus on your heart rate for exercise during pregnancy. Years ago, some experts recommended a heart rate of no more than 140 beats a minute for exercise during pregnancy. Today, however, heart rate limits aren't typically imposed during pregnancy.

    From WebMD:

Myth or Fact: Never get your heart rate over 130 while exercising during pregnancy.Myth. There is no one "target" heart rate that's right for every pregnant woman. "People are still stuck on this heart rate issue, and it was never based on anything concrete," says Riley, noting that ACOG abandoned the "target heart rate" concept a long time ago. What they and most experts now rely on as a guide is RPE, or rate of perceived exertion."This is a scale that determines how hard you are working based on how you feel when you are working," says Farel Hruska, certified fitness trainer and the national fitness director for Stroller Strides and their Fit To Deliver pregnancy workout program.
