This is my first pregnancy and I am not sure if this is normal. Dryness started recently does any one have any suggestions of any lotions recommend that do the job and are safe for the baby?
Not my chin but dear Lord around my nose it's awful!!! Super flaky and just coming off in chunks, it's gross. Prior to pregnancy I was definitely on the oilier side of oily/combo skin, only getting bad dry patches around my nose 2 or 3 days before my period. Now it's 24/7. My advice would be to get a clarisonic or one of the knock offs (I have a Clarisonic and the Conair True Glow Sonic brush, honestly the Conair works JUST as well for half the price). It's really helped my skin calm down from all the hormonal breakouts. I've also been really careful of what I wash my face with. I had to switch to Cetaphil for a while, which I don't really like, I find it leaves a residue on my skin. Recently I've switched back to Purity by Philosophy (pricy but literally the best cleanser I've ever used). It's the only cleanser that doesn't give me that sucked in dry feeling after washing. During the day I use Clinique dramatically different gel moisturizer and at night I use First Aid Beauty Hydrating Lotion i think it's called. It's super heavy, great for night time. Sorry I don't have any drugstore rec's I can't use cheap stuff on my face, it makes me break out.
Nivia (sp?) was an inexpensive life saver for me with my first pregnancy and as of this week I'll be purchasing more because my face has started drying out again!
I always did (nighttime drooling... ), and now it's even worse! I've been using Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture. It's retinoid and hydroxy-acid free, so far as I can tell!
Oh my yes! I struggle with dry skin all the time anyway but since becoming pregnant it's become 10x worse. I can't even wear foundation because my face is so dry and flaky. I too use a Clarisonic daily with their deep pore cleanser to help with the acne that pregnancy has also brought with it. I use Clinique Moisture Surge moisturizer and Aveda Hydration at night.
Thanks for posting this! I also have dry skin that has gotten dramatically worse since becoming pregnant. I am drinking a ton of water but also have cut back on wearing foundation now since it flakes right off. I will see if some of your suggestions help with the dryness.

Your are very welcome, I'm happy people have taken their time to provide suggestions it helps to have people experiencing the same things give you valuable feedback. I have also been drinking lots of water, looking forward to having any of these work and getting my face back... lol.
I had a dry rash all over my neck and chest. I tried to avoid it, but it got NASTY. I really didn't want to put medication on it, but it was out of control. I put some cortizone 10 on it twice a days for two days and it's gone.
Checking on the recommendations and it says to not used Cortizone10 if pregnant or while breast feeding. Love the sound of your results but should I worry about the warning. Will be E-mailing my Dr.
Yeah, that's why I didn't want to use it. However, my doctor said a light layer was okay and I trust her. I'm relieved it's gone as well! @Jocelynguillermo2012
I've definitely had a lot more dryness/flakiness with pregnancy. I'm usually terrible with washing make-up off, so that makes it worse, but when I actually follow my aesthetician's recommendation, it's so much better. I use a gentle cream cleanser daily and exfoliate with corn meal (it's all natural and no rough edges to scratch your skin) 3x a week. Then I moisturize at night with coconut oil and again in the morning with a light moisturizer with sunscreen.
What about your lips? Anyone have dry lips? As in peeling skin? It is so gross and chap-stick isn't doing the trick.
OMG yes my lips have been so dry and flaky this pregnancy! It drives me crazy! I try to keep the baseline lip ointment cocoa butter on them otherwise, if I let them get dry I will pick the dryness off until I bleed. Which I know is not a good thing to do lol
@blondie080300 I use the medicated Blistex at night before bed. It seems to help when regular chapstick fails. It's not a one day fix, but it helps soften everything up to exfoliate away the dead skin and prevent continued chewing/picking.
Flaky chin and cheeks here. When i shower i exfoliate w a skin glove then put green aloe vera gel on, the kind for sunburns. Seems to be doing the trick. I am a carmex aholic, so have it on my lips 24.7
I had super dry lips a couple of weeks ago. Like unrelenting. Even my old standby Aquafor didn't work, and that stuff was the ONLY thing that kept my lips from bleeding when I was on Accutane. I think it was a combination of hormones and the dry hospital air though. Back to normal now.
I went ahead an tried the Cortozine 10 and the dryness has disappeared. I went ahead and verify with my OBGYN before starting to use it and she said it was not a problem. I do apply a thin layer after washing my face and when needed.
I have eczema and this pregnancy my face was so raw that I had to go see a dermatologist. The best thing they have recommended was Vanicream. It is amazing for everywhere and safe and gentle for baby. Expensive, but lasts a long time.
