EBF and DD is not wanting to go to bed

DD is almost 11 weeks and for a few weeks she was great at bedtime. No for the past week she has been terrible. Just like when she was a couple weeks old. She will sleep from 7-8 and then be crabby, and refuse to nurse and sleep. She was doing so good. Now back to the witching hour.any advice? Or is this happening to any of you other moms?

Carlos usually naps from 6:30-8:30 and then is up again til 9:30 before feeding again. At first, I would usually have him up til 11 pm and then he slept til 5:30 am... Have you tried just making her bedtime later? You can always push it up when she starts sleeping better...

Editted to to add that LO is FF so it may be different, but he still slept good when I EBF, once I got him down. Also, from 6:30-8;30 it usually is a nap beside me on the couch, but later he sleeps in his crib.

  • My LO has been waking up at 12 and cooing non-stop. *__* lol. I think it is because she overnapped during the day. If there even is something like that.
  • DD is 14 weeks now and I remember her going through a huge growth spurt around 11-12 weeks. She slept horribly. I don't thin babies can oversleep at this age, it's better for babies to get all the sleep they need, even if it seems like a ton.

    How long did it last?
  • At 11 weeks it lasted 4 days if I remember right. Right now she's going through one again and it's been a week and it's just a mess.
  • My LO still has witching hours from around 530 until 7/8 when we start her night time routine. She did also have a growth spurt during her 11th week that lasted 3 days but then it was followed by 3 days of amazing sleep. If your LO continues maybe it's the 4 mo sleep regression? I think I read another thread that some peoples LOs are starting early.
  • My DD was sleeping great for naps and bed time. She has been awful the last week or so. She use to go down drowsy but awake but lately have been spending 45 minutes or so to get her down for a 30 minute nap. At night she went back to waking up every 1-2 hours. It has been awful. Tonight though we put her down awake. She was fussy for about 10 minutes. When she cried we went in to comfort her, but once she fell asleep she slept for 10 hours. So whatever it was is hopefully getting better. Hopefully it will for you too.
  • Sometimes when dd is fussing before bed I give her a massage & it calms her right down. My son never cared for massage but she looooves it. Try it maybe? With nice lotion- like lavender
  • There is a 12 week leap- could your baby be having an early leap? It's supposed to go by due date and I can't remember if your LO was late or not?
  • My baby girl is the same age and she is going through a growth spurt and maybe a leap at the same time. She is also having some trouble with sleeping at night. She is eating constantly when I get home from work, and she gets really overtired by the time it is bedtime. Then she falls asleep and wakes up throughout the night, cooing and playing in her bassinet. I have been feeding her when she wakes, but last night I tried offering a soothie a couple of times and it worked like a charm. Sometimes when they are growing and learning to do new things they want to wake up at night and practice.
  • DS hit a leap/growth spurt around 11.5 weeks. It lasted over 11 days and sounds very similar to what you described. Thankfully it did pass. Hang in there!
