Differences between pregnancies

During my pregnancy with my DD, I was nauseous constantly from the second I found out a was pregnant until 16 weeks, and vomited (sorry TMI) anywhere from 3-5x per day. I had immediate food aversions, and crazy sensitive skin, but not until later in the pregnancy, maybe around 25-30 weeks.

This time, I've been nauseous only twice, and it lasted maybe an hour, no vomiting. And my skin is already so sensitive. I can't use face wash, lotion, or makeup without my face turning beet red and feeling like it's on fire. I'm not really having food aversions, either.

Has anyone had very different symptoms with this pregnancy compared to previous pregnancies?

Re: Differences between pregnancies

  • Entirely normal. Every single one of my pregnancies has been different, many of them quite dramatically. It's awfully annoying how NOT feeling horrible can cause a whole bunch of anxiety.

Isn't biology a pain in the arse?

  • With my 2 daughters, my pregnancies seemed to be exactly the same, I noted when the nausea started (6 weeks). This one seems to be quite similar except that I haven't had heartburn yet. I would love to skip out on that symptom this time!

  • Right there with you! My first pregnancy, I was in bed from 9 weeks - 17 weeks. Can't really lay in bed while I am working full time with a toddler....so I'm not letting m/s happen this time  ;)

    My fingers are crossed!

  • I thought I had some nausea with my daughter but that was nothing compared to what I am feeling now.  I have all day sickness and it is not fun in the least.  My skin was really bad with my daughter as well, I broke out almost immediately and had acne throughout the entire pregnancy.  This time around my skin almost looks glowy.  Embarrassed to say I was so tired this weekend I didnt wash my face or shower Saturday and my skin still looked good.  So far the really tender boobs and fatigue are the same with both.

  • Yes, my first pregnancy with DD I vomited all day, everyday until I was around 20 weeks! It was awful, everything made me nauseous. Second pregnancy, with an other girl I only felt nauseous if I took my vitamin in the morning. It was literally such an easy pregnancy as far as symptoms go. She was just an eager girl and tried to come at 30weeks again at 34 weeks and then was born at 36weeks. This time...not too nauseous, just extremely tired. I am so fatigued, I wake up and I need a nap in an hour. I feel like I haven't slept at all, I have never felt so exhausted. Literally I just want to stay home and sleep all day. Yesterday, I managed to last a full day without a nap, but was in bed at 7pm! Also, I have to pee every 10 minutes! Weird how they're so different!
  • Yes!! My first was a breeze I wouldn't have known I was pregnant if I didn't have to test before taking an antibiotic at the doctors. This time I am so nauseous, and tired so tired.

@HomeyDontPlayThat that is exactly how I felt the first time! I want my magical pregnancy back!
  • With DS I never got nauseated, not even once. I just remember being super tired, but that's pretty much it. I had such an easy pregnancy. I did get extremely bloated/swollen in the third tri, but that's it. With this one I have been so nauseated and have been having severe food aversions. I haven't actually thrown up (yet), but honestly, with how bad the MS is getting, I feel like it's only a matter of time.  :(
  • Last time the exhaustion began early, but the nausea only went from 8-11 weeks. This time, nausea has kicked in majorly early. I'm 5+6 and it really hit me this past weekend. Boobs are already huge and sore too and the constipation is in full swing. Basically the biggest difference is that all of my symptoms have kicked in way earlier this time...great.

  • Yes I was incredibly sick all the time with DD and with this one I've only been mildly nauseous a few times.

  • I am in the same boat, except opposite.  My first pregnancy, I was never nauseous nor any morning sickness and now I have been sick almost every morning this week :(  not fun!

so far this one is exactly like my last, constantly nauseous and feel hung over.  I am prepared for puking to start more frequently in about a week.  Oh the joy

  • My aunt has 6 kids, 3 girls and 3 boys. She says she always knew which it would be because with the boys she was sick as a dog and with the girls she was never nauseous once. Probably a super weird coincidence bc I can't imagine that to be scientifically possible but still pretty cool.

  • I know every pregnancy I'd different, but I'm crossing my fingers that this one is as easy as my first. No nausea, and I felt good almost the whole time - I happily went to work at 40+3 and went into labor that night. Fingers are reeally reeallly crossed!
  • With DS I was nauseous in the morning and at night from week 5 to 10 but never threw up, I had major brain fog and had no food aversions at all. This time my nausea showed up during week 6 and I have felt like I have the flu ever since. It's horrible. Can't drink much water or eat hardly anything, have food aversions to literally everything right now. I also get really light headed if I stand for more than 2  minutes. Also with DS I had bad acne all over my face the entire time, and this time my face is looking amazing, the acne is on my shoulders instead which I am fine with! Very very different from one another.
  • It's crazy how different everyone's pregnancies are! I've been worrying myself because I haven't been sick yet this pregnancy, and like I said before, I was nauseous/vomiting immediately with DD. I'm relieved that the differences in my pregnancies seems to be totally normal :)

  • My first pregnancy I remember being nauseous (mostly at night) 8weeks-15weeks I would say. 2nd trimester was amazing, I felt great. 3rd trimester I had terrible itching and was diagnosed with ICP ,it was a nightmare. This time (6 weeks) I feel nauseous all day and the shortness of breath is no fun.
  • I was pretty sick last time and this time is worse. I already got Zofran on Monday. Last time I made it much longer without meds. Plus the food aversions are worse with this one. It's taken away all my favorite things: coffee, hot tea, and peanut butter. Like really kid? Also my husbands cologne makes me want to vomit. Sigh. I'm calling this one "Trouble"

I HATED my first pregnancy and always told my husband I could MAYBE do it one more time. I had all day nausea from the time I found out I was pregnant til 4 months. Lived on Vernor's and saltines. Had a break from 5-6 months, but then the heartburn started. Then the nausea joined the heartburn at 6-8 months til I gave birth 3 weeks early.

This time, I'm 7.5 weeks along and doing great. I'm a little more tired than usual and have had some mild intermittent nausea, but mostly wouldn't know that I was pregnant had we not been trying. I'm hoping it's smooth sailing this whole pregnancy. That would be ideal, right?
  • Last time I felt pregnant before I even tested. My boobs were instantly killing me and I was so exhausted. This time, I don't really have any symptoms yet 6 weeks in..I didn't even know I was pregnant until yesterday. I kind of want some sort of symptoms to pop up so that it feels more real.

  • With my first pregnancy, I was never nauseous or extremely tired. I honestly cruised through that pregnancy easy peasy.
This time around, I'm nauseous all day long, have lost 6 pounds and am so tired I can barely tend to my daughter. Crazy how different two pregnancies can be!

  • Mine have been completely different so far. With my son I knew I was pregnant immediately because the symptoms were so strong. I was throwing up all day everyday until around 16 weeks. This time I feel a little nauseous here and there. I feel a little extra tired. I didn't know I was pregnant at first.
  • My first pregnancy with DD, I was nauseous during 1st tri, had really sore boobs, but my skin was fine. My second pregnancy with DS, I was way more exhausted but only occasionally nauseous. My boobs didn't hurt but my skin was a wreck. This time is way more like my 1st pregnancy. Nauseous, sore boobs, so far no skin troubles.
  • I'm on my fourth pregnancy, and each has been different, my first was easy, I was just tired all the time.  My second I felt worse, but still not terrible.  Third was awful, bad morning sickness, I don't know how I would have survived without Zofran (I lost 15lbs, and didn't start gaining weight until my third trimester.) This one so far has been more like the first.  (Also don't think different symptoms mean different genders, mine are all boys).
  • I was nauseated with my son and daughter at about 8 weeks.  With this one ,  nausea started when I found out, at about 4 weeks. I'm pretty miserable right now.

  • It is still early for me.  5 weeks 2 days but this time I feel so much better.  Yes my boobs and my back hurt.  I get dizzy here and there.  And a few waves of nausea.  I think having an active toddler is making me push through and not focus on my symptoms.

Last time as soon as I got home I climbed into the nest I made on our couch with the snoogle.  Now I have to wait until wild man is in bed before I can put my feet up.
