Temping

Anyone else just hate this with a passion? I'm struggling with it. My temps always seem to be all over the place. For example, yesterday my temp was 98.07. Today it was 96.89. What the F? Same bed, same room,tested at the same time, ugh. 

I've been temping now for about a year, even when we weren't actively TTC. I thought maybe it was because I was using cheap thermometers. I bought a really "good" BBT thermometer online for like $30, so either my temps are just wacky or this thing sucks too.

I think I read somewhere that temping while on medication for infertility can be inconclusive, or did I imagine that?

    Hi, not sure bout the meds but know that sleeping under the duvet, above the duvet, one leg out, feet out, mouth open, mouth closed, ... can all effect your temp.
    Its one of the reasons I never bothered.

    @em01092, you are exactly right about fertility meds messing with your temps.  So can all the reasons that @tvh1982 mentioned!  A lot of women have more success doing their temps vaginally rather than orally, even though that sounds like such a pain!  Also, checking CM and CP are more effective for some women.  It all is such a chore though, and I understand your frustrations.  I was actually relieved when the RE started tracking my cycle so that I didn't have to anymore!

    I had been temping since December 2014 and I stopped this month for a break. We decided we wouldn't do anything (besides sex) this month- no temping, no OPKs, and no meds or IUI etc. I needed the break from temping definitely! In the beginning it was nice to temp so I knew when I ovulated, if I am ovulating etc... but now that we are doing fertility treatments I don't really need that info. If it is driving you crazy, maybe take a little break from it. :)  (Yes I know it is hard to stop..)

    Me: 28, DH: 30 Married July 2014  DX: Severe MFI- 3 failed IUI's, IVF #1 Egg retrieval June 4th 2016, 5 day transfer- BFP Baby Boy! EDD 2/25/2017. Our sweet miracle Carter Bennett arrived 2/12/2017 6 lbs, 2 oz 19 inches. <3 Surprise BFP!!! Baby Girl due 10/1/2018.

    I just got back into temping after years of not doing it. We did 3 failed IUI cycles last yr and I am temping more to see what my body is doing off fertility meds. 
     I second temping vaginally, much more consistent chart, esp since I am a mouth breather. If I wasn't temping I would have totally missed my ovulation this cycle, I usually ovulate around cd 20 but this month it was cd 25. Big difference and will be having a much longer cycle. Not temping would have left me stressed out when my period was "late" so even though sex won't likely get me pregnant, it helps me track my cycle and know if I am actually ovulating.
