What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Anatomy scan ultrasound next Wednesday!  Cannot wait.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  Sending calm, positive vibes to everyone!  Feeling good over here.

Questions?  Anyone else headache prone during pregnancy?  I think mine are dehydration related, but who knows.

GTKY: Any plans for Easter?  We're not religious, just planning a visit from the Easter bunny for my DD.  Usually we have dinner with BFF, but she has a newborn and a ton of company, so not really sure if that will happen this year.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Anatomy scan on Friday! I cannot wait.  I haven't seen this little girl since she was 6weeks.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  I am feeling great...although sometimes I think to myself "I haven't felt her move today". But then I relax and there she is.  Sending positive vibes out as well

Questions? @frenchteachermama I have been getting a lot of pregnancy headaches and I don't remember this the last time.  My doc told me it was dehydration as well and I should be drinking have my body weight in water everyday.  I must have heard her wrong b/c that seems impossible.

GTKY: Any plans for Easter?  I will go to mass by myself b/c taking a 2 year old seems like a really bad idea! Then off to my parents for an Easter egg hunt and dinner with my extended family.  I love Easter b/c it always feels like spring is coming and everything is new and bright.
  • @Katienu Half my body weight seems completely impossible to me too!  I'm trying to do better this week, so I brought a new straw cup to work with me today.  I filled that (16 oz) and a regular glass (another 16 oz) this morning and brought them both to my desk.  But even if I finish both, that's not even half way there!  Yikes.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Regular appointment next Monday. We had the anatomy scan last week and I'm still so excited from that!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: positive vibes to all! Before the scan, I was certain something had gone wrong again because I couldn't really feel much movement. At the scan we found out the placenta is sitting in front of her so that is why moment has been limited. We also found out she is a girl! Hooray!

Questions? @Fremdschamen I've been having a lot of headaches, too. Mine seem to be hormone related but they're still awful! Good luck!

GTKY: Any plans for Easter? Easter egg hunt with DS and then dinner with the in-laws. I can't fight church with the way my 2.5 year old has been!
  • Happy Monday!

    Weeks: 19w6d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): We had our anatomy scan on Friday and have our 20 week midwife appointment tomorrow.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Feeling very blah. The anatomy scan went great, except that I learned that my placenta is anterior, which explains why I've only felt movement super low. So now I'm nervous/bummed out that I'm not going to feel nearly as much movement as I did with my first one.
Rant: I'm kind of annoyed with the whole weight gain thing at my midwife's office. At my first visit (at 7 weeks), she asked me what my "starting weight" was, so I told her my weight, according to my scale at home (first thing in the morning, wearing very little clothes). She then weighed me that day and put down that I had gained two pounds, even though I hadn't actually gained anything at that point and was simply being weighed later in the day, after eating, fully dressed with shoes on. No big deal, I guess. But then at my last visit, at 16 weeks, she told me that I should "really watch it" because I had gained a total of 6 pounds, according to her record. In reality, at that point, I had actually only gained 3 (I weigh myself once per week at home on my scale before eating anything). I tried to tell her this, and ask if it's still a concern, and she sort of just shrugged it off. As of this morning, I've now gained a total of just under 6 pounds (so 3ish pounds since my 16 week appointment) and I have no idea if I'm on the right track weight-wise, or if I really am gaining too much. I gained 23 pounds in my first pregnancy and lost it all very quickly, and I'm hoping to stay around there this time too, but can't for the life of me remember how quickly/slowly I gained it, or where I was at by 20 weeks. So, again, blahhhh.

Questions? Anyone else with anterior placenta? How much movement have you felt?

GTKY: Any plans for Easter? We're just going to my mom's; Dh's family is terrible about planning things and, at this point, have no plans for Easter so who knows about them. It's frustrating because we both have joint custody of our kids so we have to work with the other parents too, and his family makes it very difficult to plan.

  • @1faceinacrowd That's ridiculous!  I've gained almost exactly the same amount and my midwife seems to think it is completely appropriate (and I started overweight).  My bump app said this week (at 17 weeks) that people have often gained 5-10 lbs by now.  So, it seems to me that you're right on track!  I know I'd definitely gained more by now during my last pregnancy.  My midwife just takes my weight based on what I self-report from weighing myself in the morning.  I much prefer that than the totally arbitrary mid-day fully clothed weight.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
Just regular monthly OB checks. Excited to reach 20 weeks this Wednesday.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I am still riding the high from my anatomy scan last week. I think on Saturday I may have felt the baby do a roll but it only happened once so not sure if that was my first feeling of movement or not. Nothing really since but feeling so much better since seeing him move around in there and not feeling anything during the scan.
Feeling motivate to knit a few items and downloaded some apps to start on the naming process!

    Questions?

    GTKY: Any plans for Easter?
Nope, it wasn't big growing up in my family so I have no actual plans this year.

What's next: Anatomy scan a week from Thursday. I'm so excited!! But I'm also really nervous my doctor could find something wrong with the baby. Trying not to think about that though.

Rave: I've been feeling a ton of fetal movement! I couldn't be more happy about that. It's not constant and it's not that strong yet, but every now and then I feel some kicks. DH was finally patient enough to wait with his hand on my stomach until he finally felt his first kick too. Feeling this movement has calmed me down a lot.

Rave: So I got an email from my grandparents saying they're coming to visit me in three days because they want to see the city I live in and need a place to stay to break up their trip to Florida to visit friends. I would love to see them but I'm a little upset too because they've planned this trip months ago yet are just now telling me three days in advance that they expect to stay here. I live in a two bedroom townhome and our guest room is being converted into a nursery. It's a mess right now and we can't even fit a person in there right now let alone two with a bed made up. DH and I were going to spend the next few months getting that room ready for baby but now we have three days (while we're both working more than full time) to finish the room. Plus I have to go buy pillows because I don't have any guest pillows right now. And to top it off I work nights and sleep during the day. This is a very tiny house, which means no sleep for me while they're here. And no sleep while pregnant and trying to work until 1 a.m. is not a good mix. I'm not very happy!

GTKY: No Easter plans. DH and I have the day off together so we'll probably just go on our weekly date. (Trying to get in as many movie and dinner dates as possible before baby comes.)

I'm sorry some of you are experiencing headaches! I'm a migraine sufferer, but pregnancy seems to have helped ease that a bit. Drinking water like your doctors suggested really does help a lot. I know it's hard to drink that much, but when you force yourself to do it you feel so much better!
  • @JournoGrl23 Umm yeah, I would be annoyed too!  Three days notice is not enough!  I would be totally stressed trying to finish a room in three days.  FX your grandparents are quiet, or spend most of their time out and about so that you can get some rest.

I'm up to 48 oz of water today and definitely feeling much better, if a bit waterlogged.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): had my anatomy scan today and all looked good! I have to go back because LO's hand was on his face the whole time and we couldn't get a good profile picture.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: feeling relieved after seeing that things are good. Found out I have an anterior placenta which explains why I only started feeling movement in this last week or so.

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: Any plans for Easter? We are bouncing between families... We'll go to DH's mom's for brunch and then dinner with my family.

@1faceinacrowd I think your midwife is being a bit overboard with the weight thing. I've gained like 8 or 9 lbs so far which my doctor is really happy with. Also, it's impossible to compare what an appropriate amount of weight gain is (within reason) because everyone's body gains the weight at different paces. I know some people whose gain slowed towards the end and some whose gain picked up towards the end. As long as you know your being healthy I wouldn't worry about it.
Also, I found out today that I have an anterior placenta this time and my doctor said that by 20weeks or so it won't make any difference, because the baby will be strong enough that kicks and movement are powerful enough to be felt in basically the same way.

  • @Fremdschamen That makes me feel a little better. It totally caught me off guard when she said I should "watch it" because I didn't start out overweight and thought I was doing pretty good, plus DH was giving me crap a lot for not eating enough (my cravings have consisted of salad, jello, and popsicles lol). So I kind of felt cruddy after that, especially since I do generally eat healthy.

@Bookhousegirl I agree, it seems a little overboard to tell me to watch out. We'll see what she says tomorrow... I know I'll be wearing a lighter outfit/shoes because it's supposed to be 70 degrees rather than 20, so that'll probably make a difference. I'm still about half a pound under what she weighed me in at 4 weeks ago.
Also, the ultrasound tech didn't say much about if/when the anterior placenta would make a difference, so that's good to know!

  • PS: I had an anterior placenta with my first pregnancy and it didn't make much difference to feeling movement, especially after 20 weeks or so.  The only thing it did influence is that apparently it can make back labour more likely and I did have back labour with my DD, which was pretty uncomfortable.

  • Chiming in: I totally agree about the back labor and anterior placenta. It was sucky. I wanted to walk around and not monitored in bed because it hurt to lay down/or sit up.
  • @1faceinacrowd I've gained 11 pounds so far and my doctor seems happy about it. She actually hasn't said anything about the weight gain so I'm assuming it's good. From the books and articles I've read about weight gain, 15-20 pounds by the end of the second trimester is considered normal. My doctor said she expected me to gain 25-30 pounds overall. I did start out slightly underweight, but my doctor said she isn't treating me any different as far as weight gain goes.
  • @lgem4 big hugs to you! I'm sure that the impending date is triggering a lot of this. I know it was really tough for me to feel positive until I got past mine (although that was much earlier so I can only imagine how much harder it is to have to wait for you!). I'm glad you have a doctors appt this week to ease your mind some.

  • @lgem4 I'm so sorry you're getting worried and having those dreams as that time gets closer! I lost mine much earlier but was panicked until I got past it. Still panicked most of the time actually. I have those PGAL nightmares too. I hope everything goes well for you this week and you're able to get some peace of mind that everything is OK.

    Appointment next Monday, yay.

    Love feeling the fetal movement

    Questions?

GTKY: Any plans for Easter? Eat peeps and catch a flight home from a conference.
  • @lgem4 What an upsetting dream.  I'm sure it is the impending gestational age that is triggering you.  I had a really rough time until I was past the gestational age of my previous loss.  I gained a bit of confidence after that, for sure.  Thinking of you and hoping nothing is wrong!

Thanks ladies! Last night was nightmare free thankfully. As always it helps to have all the kind words and support! I hope I do get a little more confident after passing that milestone. Once I hit viability, I know I'll be able to breath a little better. Of course I want to deliver full term but at least she will have a better shot after 24 weeks if I go.
I agree! Can't wait to hit viability.

  • Anyone heard or seen @bananers? I'm sure she's fine, I just usually see her. And PGAL brain has me worried..
  • @jacmkelley same here. Hope everything is ok
  • @jacmkelley @lgem4 @Katienu I was as well. Saw she commented on the 21st so hoping she just had a busy day or two.

  • Had a scare today. I believe it was last week that I was worrying about leaking fluid. Well today it started gushing out and I was getting sharp abdominal pains. I called the on call nurse expecting her to tell me to just wait for my appointment on Thursday. But she told me I needed to go to the ER right away just to get checked just in case. So I left work in the middle of a shift and went to the ER. They did a pelvic exam, a cervix check, a swab and an ultrasound. They thought maybe I would have an infection based on what they were seeing but everything turned out to be normal. I'm very relieved although feeling a little silly for going to the ER. One thing though, in the ultrasound the baby's heart rate was in the 170s, but then dropped down to the 90s, then back up to the 170s. I've been noticing that on my at home Doppler too but just thought I was hearing things. The doctor said to ask my OB about it but that he didn't think it meant anything. I don't really have a question. Just wanted to vent about my latest freak out.
  • @JournoGrl23  So glad to hear things are ok and it wasn't amniotic fluid!  That sounds like such a scary situation. Is Thursday your anatomy scan?  They looked at the heart pumping and the chambers, heart rate, etc. at my scan so I'm assuming that is part of the standard scan and they will do that at yours as well.

      BabyFruit Ticker Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • @ramoseecology yes, Thursday is my anatomy scan. I'm really looking forward to it! But also nervous about the heart. I'm hoping the ER Doctor was right and it means nothing.
  • @lgem4 The woman at the front desk  at the ER actually tried to send me to L&D, which I would have preferred. But the hospital I go to has a policy where no one under 20 weeks can go to L&D and has to stay in the ER. She tried to get them to make an exception since I'm one day away from being 20 weeks, but they wouldn't cave. I've never been to an ER before, but I was pretty impressed with the treatment I received at this one. But I think it was also a slow night for them. And you're right! It really does hurt when there looking and swabbing in there! The doctor was pretty rough about it too.

I'm so sorry about the nightmare you had! I can imagine how terrifying it would be to have the nightmares. I bet it is because of the holiday. When I passed the due date of my first pregnancy in February I had nightmares too and felt awful all day. I hope you have better dreams tonight and that today goes well for you!
