I have had a recurring UTI this entire pregnancy....and the nurse suggested a probiotic. Dr. Google says that it is ok to take during pregnancy. Anyone else take one???
I do! I've been taking one for a few months now. I take Rainbow Light brand ones, only because that is what brand I was using for my prenatals and DHA.
I have taken one for years after repeated utis. It helps a ton!!! It is actually recommended that you alternate between probiotics since they can carry vary in strains. Variety is good in this case!
TTC since 3/2011 Adenomyosis, LPD, hypothyroidism.
BFP on 7/20/12 after 4 cycles Clomid + IUI
2 large subchorionic hematomas & no heartbeat at 7w6d
D&E 8/18/12 Sonohysterography found septum and necrotic tissue.
My doctors are also okay with me taking one. I personally would just be careful of the media they grow them on (avoid dirt! which is not common, but is occasionally used to get high numbers of bacteria). I use Doterra, they have a double capsule to get the good bacteria into the small gut. My doctors were also okay with me taking a whole cranberry suppliment. I like Megafood for that one.
I started taking a fiber supplement--Fiber Well--about 1.5 weeks ago, and it has a probiotic. I made it the first 19 weeks without having regularity problems, but started getting them, so fiber it was. It seems to really be helping. I was so smug/concerned the first trimester that I was having the... opposite... problem, and then it caught up with me!
