Let's go shoe shopping!

Thinking ahead to this summer and shoes to wear! Unfortunately I work in an office where closed toed shoes are required (OSHA). In the past I wore pumps or ballet flats but the lack of arch support really killed my feet. With added weight this year, plus the possibility of swelling I am in desperate need of office friendly flats with great arch support! (and not crazy expensive!)

What are your favorite summer shoes that offer support?

What are your needs for this summers shoes?

A few people recommended Toms to me, and I found some ones that could work with a dress for work.

My feet swelled pretty bad with DD and my toms wouldn't fit. I wore a lot of tennis shoes honestly but I know tennis shoes with a dress would probably look silly. I know some tennis shoe brands carry flats as well that have the same amount of support as the regular shoes. I have a really good pair of flats but I can't remember the name of the brand right now.

I hear that Tieks are great but they are crazy expensive! Maybe there is a good knock-off out there.

Someone recommend Sanuk's to me but they are not necessarily my style.

Clarks also makes a good/comfortable shoe.

I love Tom's - maybe go one size larger or check for wider size.

I have found that most any flats that you like (and fit well) with an arch support insert worked for me.

I love my Toms and I'm on my 3rd pair. They run true to size. My newest pair were tight in the arch when I first wore them but they broke in pretty quickly. They're so comfy!

Toms would not have feet my super swollen with DS1, however DS2 they would have.

Check out shoes by lifestride. They are usually very comfy. Or see if you would be cleared to wear sneakers. Skeechers makes a simple black (and other color) slip on sneaker that looks similar to a shoe.
I used those last time but I wasn't in the same building as my director. I'm getting a note from my OB for sneakers so I can wear them again. So comfortable.

A little on the expensive side, but sooooooo worth it is a brand called Vionics. I have battled with plantar fasciitis in the past and LOVE their shoes for arch support. Dansko is also great and both brands last forever.

I'm lucky that I have a casual office and am allowed to wear flip flops. I typically only wear Reefs or Sanuks flips, and both brands have ballet flats/boat shoes that are really comfy too. I have a pair of each for the 2 months a year it gets below 60 and I love them.

My mom loves these. They take time to break in and get your foot to adjust though.

Last pregnancy I got a pair of not super attractive but workable Croc shoes that were like a black ballet flat. They added more support than just ballet flats and I bought a size up to accommodate for swelling.
