What is your Fitness Goal for the week?
Get to at least 4 Pure Barre classes!

Are there any challenges you're facing this week?
Getting through report cards with enough energy to make it to barre.

How did you do with your goals last week? Good! Last week I tried to have healthy small snacks accessible quickly at work, as well as focusing on drinking more water.

GTKY: What is your favorite work-out? (i.e. Cardio, Yoga, Strength Training...)
Pure Barre classes, and walking/running! I have not ran in the past 2 months but was running 3-4 miles before that at least 3x a week. I'm wondering if it is ok to pick that back up now that it's getting nicer out!

  • @anne11716 I've been wanting to check out a Barre class at my gym but when I found out I was KU I decided against it because I've never done one and not sure what it's about so I was nervous.  Can you tell me a little about it?

  • @TrulyBlessed22I love it! It's low/no weight, very small movements with low impact. Different sections of class are warm up, arms, thighs, butt, and abs. There is a lot of core work but only one part requires modifications right now (lower back work where you lay on your stomach, I am on all fours). I have done a few different "brands" of barre classes and the only one I didn't care for was barre method but I think that's because I took more of a cardio class then I was expecting. I highly recommend it! Pure barre has some online videos to show you a few things. Give it at least 5 classes because it is very different. Hope that helps!

^^ what she said! Barre is really popular for pregnant women so just let the instructor know before hand and they are usually great about sharing modifications throughout. I was nervous about what to wear the first time and didn't want to stick out ... full length / capri length pants and socks :)
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? Back off of my Whole30 diet by adding some healthy options like brown rice and wheat bread.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? Continue my Cardio Kickboxing and Zumba classes.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? I still have Girl Scout cookies. Also I was spotting today so I don't want to go too hard at the gym.

How did you do with your goals last week? Fine

GTKY: What is your favorite work-out? (i.e. Cardio, Yoga, Strength Training...) I love my cardio kickboxing class. I am bummed when I have to miss it.

Get vegetables in at lunch.  I've been queasy so lunch has been whatever I can get down.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?
If this cold lets up I'd like to get my miles in for my running program. (Trying to train for a half marathon in May)
Are there any challenges you're facing this week?
I have a miserable Cold/flu that kept me from running and going to the gym today.

How did you do with your goals last week?
Not too shabby considering 1st trimester can be hard to stay active during.  I was only off my running goal by 3 miles.
GTKY: What is your favorite work-out? (i.e. Cardio, Yoga, Strength Training...)
Running!  I'm a big girl and I'm slow but I found it two years ago and it's changed my life.

  • @anne11716 and @hFab14 Thank you!  I will definitely be checking it out!!

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? Stay off dessert, candy, sweetened drinks

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?
    Exercise 5x/wk.

How did you do with your goals last week? N/A

GTKY: What is your favorite work-out? (i.e. Cardio, Yoga, Strength Training...) Walking.

BONUS Bumpie Challenge: Take a 10-15 minute walk at least 4 days this week. <<< Love this idea!

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? I've stopped trying to lose weight (lost 15 lbs between NYE and end of February) and am just trying to maintain current weight through the end of March. My hope is to keep first trimester gain to less than 5 lbs.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? I'm traveling for work until Thursday morning, so trying to maintain nutrition and exercise.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? Bread and snacks at this conference! And lots of sitting, so hard to get steps in.

How did you do with your goals last week? Pretty good. Cheat day on Saturday did turn into cheat day and a half since I also has Waffle House on Sunday after church. Totes worth it though.

cardio. A good run is therapeutic

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? To stick to our meal plan. Last week we ate out way too much

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? To complete my Eminem run for half #3 (8 miles)

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? My 30th birthday party this weekend in which I have to fake drink. We also aren't having the healthiest food at the party so that will be interesting.

How did you do with your goals last week? Food was horrible, but still managed to get workouts in so I'm calling it a draw.

GTKY: What is your favorite work-out? (i.e. Cardio, Yoga, Strength Training...) running...which is funny because I secretly hate it. But I love the way I feel when I've accomplished a distance or pace I didn't think possible.

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? I'm afraid I don't have the same goals as many of your ladies (you all rock btw) but I do want to stay as fit as I can during this round of pregnancy. Nutrition Goal of the week, do not buy more Easter candy.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? 3 walks and at least one round of yoga (not including toddler yoga)

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? This is an overall challenge but since I haven't posted before I'll put it here: my husband is terrified of Zika and will not let me leave the house with dousing myself in DEET and even then not at dawn or dusk. We know the virus doesn't appear to be spread by mosquitos in the US yet but we live on the gulf coast and someone has to be the first so better safe than sorry. So, it's really uncomfortable to go for walks right now since the smell of bug spray is making me sick, I have to shower immediately after coming in with bug spray on and that's not always possible with a 20 month old in tow, and I'm saving up my outdoor time for toddler playtime. Seriously need to consider getting a treadmill.

How did you do with your goals last week? I ate all the Easter candy. :/

Hello Fabulous Fitness Bumpies!  This is your mid-week Health and Fitness Check-In...

How's it going?  Who is doing the Bonus Bumpie Challenge?  How are you feeling?

  • I'm feeling great! I did get on the treadmill for 20 minutes yesterday, so I was super proud of myself. I plan to get back to my regular workout schedule (at least 30 minutes most days) tomorrow since I just had a tiny bit of coughing today. I also chose to have a salad as my afternoon snack instead of something less healthy, so that is a start.

  • I'm doing terrible. I missed my class yesterday because we went to go look at the dog. I'm missing it tomorrow because I need to meet someone to buy a crate. But the good thing is once we have the dog I will have a reason to walk.

  • Not doing so great this week.  This cold is just dragging me down.  But tomorrow I'm going to the gym and hopefully I can manage a workout.
  • Giving myself a C+ right now. Eating healthy and hitting the gym have been going ok, but last night H promised to bring home cupcakes and forgot...

    1) cried because he forgot the cupcake
    2) cried because I realized I was crying over a cupcake
    3) went out for cupcakes

This totally happened to me once. Except it was a zaxbys birthday cake milkshake. And, I was just PMSing, not pregnant! It was so embarrassing!

  • I've made it to the gym every day this week! I was already in the habit, but it has been a challenge. I've been soooo fatigued! I also work in a busy urgent care clinic so I usually can reach my 10,000 steps too. My last pregnancy I worked out 5-6 times a week and it really paid off! So, that's my motivation!
However, I have eaten poorly this week. Fast food one night, Chinese an other, and ice cream. Oh well it's about a balance right??
    Keep it up mamas!
  • Great job everyone, even if it hasn't been as great as you'd like! I'll be getting some treadmill time today once DD goes to my MIL's for the day, so I'm excited for that!

  • yes, great job everyone.  I have been doing ok.  My eating is definitely not the best this week, it's bad because the truth is I normally eat fairly healthy but I've just been craving bad stuff.  Do cravings even start this early?  I never really had any with our first.  Anyway, still not going overboard though so I guess that's a plus.  As for walking it's been rainy here so that hasn't been so great but I'm still finding other ways of trying to get myself moving like chasing DD for tickles and doing dance parties.  I am def going to Yoga on Sat and will try to get on the treadmill then too.

@hfab14 thanks for the laugh I needed that this morning.  Glad you finally got your cupcake!

@m6agua Yes, the puppy will be a big help in that regard, with my last pregnancy I walked almost daily thanks to having to walk the dog :)

  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? I need to go to my spin class tomorrow! I usually go five times a week but life has been crazy and I haven't gone once!! Tomorrow is the day! I am.obsessed with spin!

What is your Fitness Goal for the week? Go atleast 3 times to spin and maintain my weight. I lost 9lbs in the weeks before o found out I was pregnant and want to keep them off if not lose more (I'm overweight)

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? I just Want to eat junk

How did you do with your goals last week?
Good, I hit five exercise classes last week!

GTKY: What is your favorite work-out? (i.e. Cardio, Yoga, Strength Training...)
    Walking and spin!
BONUS Bumpie Challenge: Take a 10-15 minute walk at least 4 days this week.
Done I walk back and forth to work which is 40 mins each way :)
  • What is your Health/Nutrition Goal for the week? I'm just trying to cut down on unhealthy snacking and large portion sizes.  This week I've done alright, but not perfectly.

What is your Fitness Goal for the week?  I was running 3 days per week, but H's work schedule changed in mid-Feb and I stopped having those times free.  So for now I'm taking long walks when I can and trying to find an inexpensive treadmill on Craigslist.

Are there any challenges you're facing this week? Just timing.  I'm working on it.

How did you do with your goals last week?

GTKY: What is your favorite work-out? (i.e. Cardio, Yoga, Strength Training...) Running.  I like the alone time and to be outside.  I like hiking too.

I'm a member of a fitness club that has a variety of morning classes: spin, weight lifting, intense cross training, etc. So I'm trying to do a morning workout at least 3 mornings a week. I'm really sad that I can't go relax in the whirlpool or steam room after my workouts because that used to be my favorite! Just by not drinking alcohol and being more mindful of my diet I've lost 5 lbs so I'm pretty thankful for that.  I definitely do not want to be one of those people who gains excessive weight during pregnancy because I feel I'd be doing myself, my baby, and my husband a disservice! And I already started out at my highest weight ever.

From my starting point of 144 lbs, I'm down to 139 (my normal weight has historically been about 120-125). I don't expect to weigh more than 140 by the end of the 1st trimester, so that's a goal of mine.
  • @nibu this sounds a lot like my situation! My preferred weight is 125-130 and I've never been about to drop the last 15 lbs from my first pregnancy. I gained over 50lbs with my first and I refuse to do that again. I'm hoping not to gain more than 40 this time by being more active and not going crazy with bagels when I have MS although it hasn't kicked in full force yet so we'll see. If I can stay around 145 by the end of my first trimester I'll be thrilled.

@earichar23 well I'll think about you if I'm starting to slack then :) I feel kind of lucky that I haven't felt sick yet but will be happy if I skip the whole MS thing. I just want the baby, and myself, to be as healthy as possible. My doctor actually said not to try to lose weight but I really don't think it's that big of a deal in my case. Baby is only a quarter inch so I have plenty of reserves for that lol.
  • @nibu it's pretty normal to lose a few lbs the first trimester especially if you have morning sickness, silver lining? As long as you are getting enough nutrients (healthy fats and calcium especially) don't be afraid to be active (within limits). Good luck!
