Did I overdo it?

Hi ladies!

Let me start by introducing myself. I'm Elizabeth, from south Mississippi. I'm 30 weeks tomorrow, due on May 28th! I'm a ftm, and my husband and I could not be more excited!

I'm a very frequent lurker, but not poster (I'm sorry!) However, I'd really like to get more active on here. I see so many of you have made great friendships, and I really have no mommy friends to talk to!

So! My question is, how do you feel after a long day when you know you've done too much? I've been running around a lot today, preparing for dh's bday. I just showered and when I got out, I got VERY flushed, a cold sweat came over me, my heart was racing and I had some very low cramps. Have any of you ever suddenly felt this way? It went away after sitting and drinking water, but it definitely scared me a little!

Could be a number of things. You may be over doing it. I got that way the other night after work, went to the store, came home and fed the dogs, packed our lunches and started dinner and I began sweating and feeling like passing out. No cramping though. Was your shower too hot? Possibly just over heated yourself as well. As long as your symptoms went away I'd say you're ok just take it slow from now on. We need to realize we are very pregnant and can't keep the pace we used to. Slow down! Take care of yourself.

  • I am a regular member of the over doing it club. Bit of a perfectionist and one of those people who just can't sit still! When I start feeling like that I just lay on the couch with my feet up (sometimes if my back is hurting I use a heat pack) and try to sip some ice water. It usually eases up shortly. Some days though I'm stuck relaxing like that for a few hours (oh darn eh? I'll be begging for that relaxation in a few months!) I find picking things up off the floor and sweeping seems to really do me in! Which sucks because I have to sweep at least twice a day with a husky and a German shepherd both blowing their winter coats right now!
  • Yep. That's definitely happened to me before when I've overdone it-- along with my hips or lower back seizing up on me after I get up from resting once I've already done too much.
  • Welcome! Like PP, it just sounds like you overdid it. Make sure to take care of yourself and don't get too hot!

And way to be an overachiever for shaving your legs!!
  • I haven't been working out enough lately so decided to start taking walks. Live on a hill, so started going up it, and two minutes in I had to stop for about three minutes with my hands on my knees and my head down because I got so light-headed. Walked about two miles, and was awake half the night with sciatic pain and sore hips. So yeah, apparently I can overdo it by basically doing what used to equate to nothing.
  • Yep. You're body is just talking to you telling you you've over done it. For whatever reason water is the cure all for most symptoms nowadays haha. Take frequent breaks and put your feet up (what my doc recommends) and definitely listen to your body.

  • When I overdo it I definitely get overheated, but my lower body also basically tells me to fuck off. I can feel my hips seperate a bit and my pelvis get really sore. My trick to find out if I have overdone it is to rest a little and then try and do somethings- if I've overdone it my body will really struggle with things like walking or stairs and it won't go away until I've basically gone to bed. If I just needed a quick break I'll feel back to normal after maybe 10-15 minutes of rest.
as a teacher and perfectionist and clean freak I tend to overdo it a lot. I try to pack my mornings/early afternoons so that when I finally need to give in I can do it without feeling bad.
  • Hey there due date buddy!  I would echo what everyone else says - and I hope your cramps went away with rest and hydration! Take care.

  • That has happened to me when I took a too-warm bath. I actually had to go drink ice water and then stand outside. I thought I was going to pass out.
