Perinatologist vs. Regular OB

I had my preventative cerclage placed a week ago. The perinatologist would like to see me bi-weekly (on top of checkups with my Ob) to measure my cervical length until 37 weeks when she woukd remove the cerclage, she's an hour away and I can't bring the kids (sahm) to their office. While I do have my mother, and SO that could stay with them it requires them taking off work early those days. My OB mentioned she could see me in her office for bi-weekly measurements until 35 weeks when she would take out the cerclage, she's twenty minutes away and the kids could come with.

Which would you do, personally? The only thing steering me away from the convenience of my regular ob is her wanting to take out the cerclage early. I was lucky to make it to 37 week last pregnancy, so I'd rather not chance anything earlier than that. Can I request her to leave it until later? I'm not typically a patient that questions her doctor over much.

Re: Perinatologist vs. Regular OB

  • My OB office would also use an u/s to measure, so that's a plus. Then they'd send the results to the specialist, too. They keep in constant contact regarding their high risk patients. I guess I just don't want trouble questioning her reasons to take it out early and requesting not to.
