Pressure and cramping - when is it cause for concern?

I know cramps can be normal in early pregnancy, but oh man this is kicking my ass.

For about the past 5 hours I've been having intense but dull cramps. I feel them in my butt as well, and my legs, back and stomach.

It feels like a combination between my body being twisted in a vice and like I'm imminently getting my period. It also feels like there's bags of sand in my uterus. A terrible heavy feeling.. LOL I'm pretty sure that made no sense.

I'm trying to remain calm. I think I'll call my clinic tomorrow if it doesn't go away tonight.

Any chance you have to poop? I've have some pretty wicked stabbing cramps that radiate to my butt when I'm constipated. I'm currently being an old lady and drinking Metamucil to prevent more of that lovely experience since the babies have decided I can't have coffee without wanting to vomit anymore. Cramping is usually okay as long as there's not spotting along with it, does your doc have an after hours line you can call?

Yea, do you have a fever? There's a nasty stomach bug going around. I would def call a dr tomorrow if it continues though.

I just had this conversation with my doctor's office. They said unless the cramping is accompanied by spotting/bleeding, or the cramping is so bad that it interferes with your daily functions (i.e., you can't work, sleep, walk, etc. because the pain is too bad) then it shouldn't be a cause for concern. I was having pretty significant cramping yesterday, and it's definitely scary!

I've been dealing with the same thing. Intermittent cramping, but a constant dull, heavy-type ache. It occasionally radiates to my back. My OB told me this is fine as long as there is no bleeding, like PPs said. It's freaking me out though because it's my only symptom.

If you're uneasy, give your clinic a call, at least for some reassurance.

You know what,I was having an a grade meltdown a couple of nights ago due onto cramping and back ache, it turns out it was down to the fact that I had to poop all the time. Not diarrhea just loose bowel movements, the next day the back ache stopped and the need to poop went away oh pregnancy

So my RE said the feeling like you are getting your period is 100% normal. The time to worry is when it is accompanied with bright red spotting.

As part of my eating healthier plan, two separate days I've had raw broccoli with a low cal yogurt ranch dressing. I later felt severe "cramping" which was probably actually gas

not saying that's what yours is but I suppose there can be different reasons for those kind of pains.

@laurenlalap i do not know if they are the same with yours, but I have been feeling cramping around abdominal area and legs etc. I have had bloating and had loose stool for two days, so I thought that it is probably the reason. I am not having a good week , looking forward to rest over the weekend.

I hate to thread high jack but I was curious if anyone was around 6 weeks and still feeling cramping? No blood, just intermittently?

Mee, not like major cramps but like a mild period pain. Not the pinchy cramps I had at 4 weeks. I've had the ache for about a.week, no bleeding, i figured it was normal

@HomeyDontPlayThat, I'm almost 7 weeks, and although cramping has died down a lot from week 5, I still get occasional cramping that lasts a few minutes and then is fine.

Yep, I've had a few that made me catch my breath. Lately, I'm noticing it's related to gas or gastrointestinal discomfort. Never fun!

Thanks everyone. I called my clinic today and they aren't concerned. They said to call back in I have bleeding, if I become short of breath, or if the cramps are so bad I can't sit stand or walk properly.

ETA: I found it odd they told me to call a fertility clinic if I couldn't breathe properly. I'll be calling 911 if that happens - not them
