Congestion - Gross

I can't stop blowing my nose.  I'm not sick but I just am soooo congested.  I read this happens in the 3rd trimester and I have a slight memory of it with my first but I seem to have forgot most of the uncomfortable parts.  Anyone else blowing their nose every two seconds.

Re: Congestion - Gross

  • Yep! Though for me this has been going on since the second trimester. I think I've blown my nose more these past four months than in all the rest of my life combined!

  • Yes! Using a sinus rinse in the morning and before bed helps a lot! You can get them at any drug store.

  • I feel your pain.  Mine never makes it to my nose though it's always running down the back of my throat especially at night.

  • Sleeping next to a humidifier helps me, at least at night!
  • YES! I have been struggling with bad congestion since the beginning of the third trimester. I am using those breath right strips at night to help me breath a little better, but now I want to try the sinus rinse that 'London' suggested.

  • Congested too! Also we're coming into allergy season so if your prone to allergies it's going to get worse as well. Nasal rinses are a great option, but sometimes unfortunately you just gotta keep blowing it out too :)
  • My sinuses have been swollen since day one of the pregnancy. Sometimes my nose leaks and other times I sound so nasally people tell me I sound horrible.
I read that 1 in 6 pregnant women experience this and having the baby is the only thing that will alleviate it.

  • I have had it since nearly the beginning and had it with DS1 too. Use more tissues now than I probably do in a typical year! Only relief will be when baby comes. I do use a Neti pot and humidifier but honestly they don't make much difference
  • Yes. What has helped is kinda gross. I blow my nose in the shower. I think it's the steam plus being able to blow it out without abandon bc it's being immediately washed away. Doesn't cure it but makes it to where I'm not constantly blowing my nose or fighting to breathe due to congestion.
