Symptoms come and go?

Is it normal for pregnancy symptoms to come and go? I've noticed this the last 10 days since my BFP. Some days my boobs hurt, other days they don't hurt as much. Some nights I get nauseous while laying in bed, others I don't. Some days I have very minor cramping. I had a horrible acne breakout last week and it seems to be dying down this week. On days when I don't have as many symptoms I start freaking out thinking I'm not PG anymore.

Re: Symptoms come and go?

  • I've had the same concerns lately and don't have a doc appointment for another 3.5 weeks. Racking my brain over this! I guess we just have to assume that a positive is a positive and wait it out.

  • I've read that it is normal. But for every favorable response you see on Dr. Google, you get 10 unfavorable responses!!
  • Yes, this is normal (according to my previous pregnancy).
  • With my previous pregnancy my symptoms came and went very randomly as well and after about 12 weeks they basically all went away with the exception of some things that came later in the pregnancy and remained the rest of the pregnancy like *tmi warning* hemorrhoids.  Everyone is different but I think you'll find this isn't that uncommon.  Hope that helps ease your concern a bit :-)

  • Yep, normal. And stay away from Dr. Google - you'll simultaneously learn that you're either 100% okay or dying of cancer from the same symptoms....
  • Yep, totally normal!  My most consistent symptoms were with my miscarriage.  My two pregnancies with my daughter's had on and off symptoms, and they weren't that bad.  There's no way to read into symptoms.  Unfortunately this early part is just a waiting game.

  • You are not alone, and I actually had the same thoughts and concerns as you the other day. Some days I feel like I have a bad hangover, while other times I feel completely normal.
  • I've been wondering the same thing! I was really nauseous 2 nights ago, but no nausea since. And yesterday, I had pulling/cramping almost all day, but today, I didn't feel it at all. It makes me anxious. I hope it's normal, as the PPs have said!

  • These posts are exactly what I needed to hear.

I'm pregnant for the first time after two CPs (October and February), and this is by far the furthest I've gotten. I've had pretty terrible nausea over the past week, which I took as a sign that things were going well. Yesterday morning though, I made the mistake of PingOAS, just because I had one leftover in the box from the last couple I took. To my surprise, the line was slightly lighter than two of the lines I got when I tested a couple weeks ago--still a pretty strong, dark line (and it popped up almost immediately), but lighter than before. I know there could be a number of benign factors contributing to this, but after experiencing two losses, I can't help but feel anxious that I'll lose this one as well.

Yesterday and today, my nausea has been off and on, so when I feel sick, I feel miserably uncomfortable, but when I don't feel sick, I feel miserably anxious that it means my hormones are falling and that my baby is failing to grow. I haven't had an appt with a midwife yet, so I might not be able to know until then (unless I clearly miscarry), but this waiting is driving me nuts!!
  • I hear you @hollylynnesmith my panic right now is that I have back ache, and the last time I had back ache during pregnancy was when I suffered a loss... However I was already bleeding at the point and im not bleeding at all this time. It's scary.
  • @hollylynnesmith yes!! The "Damned if you do and damned if you don't" mindset. That's exactly my problem. When I do experience certain symptoms I worry that it means something bad, but when I don't experience them I also worry about the bad. Blah! I'm sure we are fine :)
  • The symptom spotting is driving me insane.  I've had mild cramping (mostly on one side) since they day I O'd so I have myself all hyped up thinking I must have an ectopic pregnancy and spending hours googling other symptoms.  I think until I have my first ultrasound I am going to be stressed.

  • Happens to me also, I'm a little over 5 weeks. Cramping has been the most consistent with at least some mild breast tenderness.

Ugh this is me too!! I had awful O pain this time around, and the pain never really went away. I'm so scared it's ectopic, but I've also tried to convince myself that it might just be a big ole cyst, which is actually good to have because that maintains the pregnancy in the beginning (so I've read.)

  • Totally normal. With my last pregnancy, I was freaking out because my symptoms kept coming and going. My nausea went away around 7 weeks then visciously came back at 9 weeks and I was basically in bed until 17 weeks! Just try to enjoy the "calm" before the storm.
