Lets talk about hair

How has your hair changed during pregnancy?
I had straight hair until puberty, then it went super curly. I was hoping pregnancy would make it go straight again. Nope. It's gone from dry/normal to super greasy in the last couple weeks. I used to go a few days without washing it, now I feel like I need to wash it twice a day.

Re: Lets talk about hair

  • I haven't really had straight hair my whole life but it was wavy until puberty then it got frizzy. Then I didn't know how to style it in high school so I started putting curling mousse in it and I guess it got so used to that that it automatically goes curly when I'm out of the shower. Hasn't changed during pregnancy that I've noticed. It's still the same frizzy mess.

  • Mine is totally opposite! I have stick straight, fine hair that has always been oily. I've had to shower/wash it every day since puberty. It's dried out a lot through this pregnancy, but I can't tell if it's that or the fact that I'm old ;)
  • I really don't notice much of a difference...not yet, anyways. I do find that it gets greasy quicker than it used to, but aside from that there's been no real change.

Hair on my head, no real change. The same cannot be said for the rest of my body. Ahh, the glamour of pregnancy never ceases to amaze me.
Me too! All my hair is the same, except now I have little dark hairs around my belly button - so gorgeous.

Yes! My leg hair has stopped growing which is awesome but WTF is up with the stomach hair. Not cute.

I think we might be hair twins..haha! This describes me, 100%. My hair was never straight necessarily (kind of straight with a slight kink), but the waves really kicked in after puberty and I had no idea what to do with myself! I attempted straightening it through high school, but my hair did not cooperate so I eventually embraced the mousse and it has been wavy/frizzy ever since. No change with my hair, other than the thickness. I always have super thick hair, but I think my prenatal vitamins are making it even worse. I have a MANE now and it needs to be cut frequently or else I can't control it.
  • I love my hair when I'm pregnant. It gets so thick and shiny! It's usually really dry so I'm enjoying every moment!

  • The oily/greasy look is something I am struggling with - I can shower/blow my hair out and it already looks greasy - so gross! I have curly thick hair but straighten it often - nowadays I straighten it & up in a ponytail it goes - fingers crossed it goes back to normal PP, because I loveeeee my hair & itsnot treating me well during pregnancy!
  • My hair hasn't really changed, it's just growing stupid fast. And only my hair on my head. Thank god, because I can't really bend to shave my legs and I gave up on my "Chanukah bush", as DH likes to call it. If i can't see it, it doesn't exist, right?

  • Dry shampoo has been my life saver. I can go about 3 days without washing my hair. It used to be very greasy before I was pregnant but now it's drier. The only change is that it feels stronger and thicker. Which sucks when I have to blow dry it. I will ditto to everyone else who has started getting black hairs on their stomachs. I hate having extra hair growth.

  • My hair has changed a lot in my life time it seems.  Being pregnant has made it SUPER curly and really thick.  I love it.  I want it to stay this way after baby boy is born lol.
  • I know this is going to sound super obnoxious, but my pregnancy hair has been a million times thicker, softer and shinier than my normal hair. I've been loving it! But I've heard that hair and nails typically go downhill in the third trimester :(
  • My hair hasn't changed at all but my stomach is fuzzy now. Like wtf.
  • Ditto to all the stomach fuzz! I wish this didn't happen lol. As for my actual hair, it's always needed to be washed once a day bc it gets so greasy. Since hitting the second trimester it isn't dry but defiantly can go a day without shampooing and I don't look like I dumped my head in a grease bucket.

This! I've been using dry shampoo after I dry my hair.

  • @sdLindenberg- I gave up on mine too. I can't see it therefore I'm not using a razor down there. DH is lucky my legs are getting shaved on occasion, because it's a struggle.

  • My hair looks darker, and it is a bit frizzy.  I'm not complaining about the fizzy since it gives my hair some volume.  I will say the one piece of random hair that went curly(of course it is in the front) is a bit odd.
  • Hair is thicker and curlier.

    Also -stomach hair. Ugh. Wtf.
  • My hair has changed with each pregnancy. It generally gets thicker, but a lot fell out in the beginning of this one. It's growing back in so now I have very thick hair for the first 5 inches and then it thins out some. It makes leaving it wavy a mess!

Also my scalp is greasy but the ends are dry, so dry shampoo is my friend. I've changed to a moisturizing shampoo and condition at the advice of my stylist and it's helping a lot.

  • ...I see some of you say stomach fuzz...mine is thick, black, wiry hairs and it's disturbing!

My head hair is super thick and I can wash it less. I used to be able to get the pony tail holder around 3 times, but I've snapped about 7 so I've given up.

  • Maybe fffc but I pluck any dark or thick stomach hairs with tweezers. It just grosses me out. Part of my just wants to wax my whole
    stomach
  • I've had super straight hair my whole life, no change in pregnancy.

With my previous two pregnancies the hair on my legs got darker and grew super fast, but not this time around. In fact I think it grows slower than usual.  No idea why is different this time.

  • Yes on the stomach fuzz! At least my other hair seems to grow slower.
  • With DD1, my hair went from curly before... to super curly and thick during.... to barely a wave postpartum. I was hoping to get some of the original curl back with DD2, but no such luck. It's now just a limp, greasy mess.
  • When I was pregs with my first son my hair went INSANE! It was just a big pile of fluff, and when I'd brush it my brush would get covered in fluff! I can't even explain it, but when I was able to tame it it looked FANTASTIC! It also didn't fall out. I had to start using detangler and smoothing solutions. This pregnancy it's falling out like crazy and less fantastic. Usually I throw it in the same side-braid I've been donning for 7 years.

You're still one up on me! I can't even bend over to shave my legs, otherwise I risk peeing myself lol. Sorry husband

  • I thought my hair would finally grow during pregnancy... It's still basically the same length!  Ugh.  Also, I don't have to use the Paul Mitchell skinny drops when I flat iron anymore- it makes my hair feel wet.  Very odd.

i have always had fine hair along my linea Alba, however, now the line is dark and so is the hair.  Lovely!  I will be heading back to my laser hair removal treatment after baby boy is born!!!
  • My head hair is as thick, oily and homeless as ever.  I have always and still have to wash my hair every morning and either scrunch, or dry/straighten.  Luckily I work where a messy bun is on.  That happens a lot.  I've noticed leg hair has slowed down although I'm still able to reach all areas when necessary.
  • My head hair is & always has been thick -- but my eyebrow &'eyelash hair is terrible. I feel like I am losing more hairs each day !
  • The only hair difference I have noticed is on my belly, ugh! I look like a facking monkey.

  • Hair on my head has stayed about the same.. it's just growing fast! Same texture tho! my legs and cooter don't grow AS quickly, but let me tell ya about these belly hairs and armpit hairs. OUT OF CONTROL! I have to shave my happy trail!! Wth?!
