Starting Clomid for the first time tomorrow and looking to see what I can expect....Did you have symptoms? If so, what were they, and how bad were they? Feel free to be brutally honest, I like knowing what to expect! Thanks in advance!

Re: Clomid Side Effects?

  • Hi, I am on cycle #3 IUI and have been on clomid 100mg each time. Very mild side effects for me was basically hot flashes nothing horrible. Its the mildest medication my RE says so to expect mild symptoms. GL!

  • I just finished a round. I was really bitchy lol- easily aggravated! Hot flashes and I got a migraine. The u/s tech today said if you are one to get headaches during your cycle it may cause them. The RE also told me to take the dose at night to reduce side effects. Overall they were mild though. I just hate medication and am very sensitive to all of it.

  • I took mine at night like @lablover78.  I also had a little piece of chocolate afterwards because I thought the pills tasted bad since they weren't coated

I had kind of odd side effects, but nothing too bad.  All three cycles with it, so far, I had shoulder aches in the same shoulder at the point in my cycle after I'd stopped the meds.  My acupuncturist said that altering hormones can affect how we feel pain, so it might be that, kind of an indirect side effect.  My third cycle I felt much more anxious than I normally do.

And I would suggest wearing looser/comfortable clothes when you're around ovulation.  One cycle, I had to squeeze into a suit that between bloating and weight gain wasn't a great fit anymore the day after my trigger shot, and it felt like my ovaries were going to explode.

  • I'm on day 3 and for the most part I am just more emotional than usual and get aggravated very easily. Last night my puppy pooped in his crate while I was in the shower, because it was raining and he didn't want to go outside. Anywho, I cried! Like full on poor me cried! After I was done I sat on my bed thinking, Heather, you've got to get it together lol

  • I took clomid for three cycles and it made me extremely hungry. I gained 12 lbs! And I'm pretty steady weight-wise. Other than that it was ok but no baby anyway.
  • A quick update....you may have seen this on the TTC Check-In, but if not....I did not have any side effects from the Clomid at all, but it also didn't work for me at all as I didn't have any follicle growth or mature follicles. I am hoping that you all have more luck and that the side effects are not too awful for you!

  • yes! Clomid made me so hungry!!!! I also gained weight which is very hard for me to do but I didn't put it together with the clomid. AF arrived in time for my work trip out of town :/ so this means clomid cycle #2 didn't work for me. I'm not as upset as I thought I would be because I really didn't feel like it worked so I was kind of expecting AF. Hope they will let me jump right it again.
