Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

feeling weak?

Did anyone feel weak post miscarriage or in my case, during it?

I had some scary bleeding Monday ( a pad in less than hour) leaks on the sheets, my underwear, everywhere. It led to the passing of a large clot and then things calmed down.

Tuesday bleeding was still heavy but not scary-heavy. My husband left for his out of town work thing.

And then today the bleeding and cramps ramped back up to the scary level again. (At one point I filled a large pad in 20 min). I called the nurse concerned and she said as long as it "wasn't going on for days" it wasn't a problem.

I left the house to go do something that I HAD to take care of and started feeling dizzy while driving, with each turn I felt a wave of lightheadedness.

I pulled over and called my BFF in tears and asked her to talk to me the rest of the drive hoping that would keep me through. She was luckily nearby running an errand (perks of a small town) and her husband drove me home and she followed.

I told my mom what happened and she picked me up and took me to her house and made a big dinner and dropped me off back home.

I guess my question is what the hell happened? I half wonder if I had a panic attack but, usually when I have a panic attack my chest hurts and I hyperventilate.  My mom thinks it's a sudden drop of hormones or something?

Did anyone experience anything like this?

Re: feeling weak?

  • It could be the blood loss. Soaking a pad in an hour is too much blood. I would call the on call dr or nurse if that persists and possibly go to the er. I'm so sorry that you are going through this.

  • I would call the doctor on call also if it continues I was bleeding that much and passed out and had to get admired to the ER. Be very careful and if you can don't be alone, maybe stay at your moms. That way you don't have to do this alone and if anything happens your not alone. Keep us posted and your in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs <3

  • @iceandsnowflakes29 your fatigue and dizziness may have to do with losing blood. I agreed with the above comments that the amount of blood and frequency of changing pad are concerning. I had the post DC care procedure care info from Women's Health Clinic  and I found it helpful. I am 3 weeks post DC. Though I wasn't bleeding as much as you, I still have fatigue and lightheadedness, esp when I get up or move my head... I try not to drive as much as poss (it could be hard for some folks) and lower my daily activities to the bare min...But in my humble opinion, I suggest you to check in with your obgyn to see if everything is alright. Wish you speedy recovery!!
  • @iceandsnowflakes29 it sounds like you are losing too much blood. Like other have mentioned, you should definitely get this checked out. Please take care of yourself and take it easy.

@iceandsnowflakes29 my doctor told me to go to the ER if I started showing signs of too much blood loss, including dizziness. Take care of yourself and call or go to the ER if this happens again!

ETA: I'd also start taking iron supplements if you aren't already.

  • My doctor is wonderful but, his staff and nurses are absolutely abysmal. If I feel like I'm going to pass out again I will go to the ER. I really hope my bleeding slows down soon. It's not scary heavy right now but it's still going. It's like every now and then someone cranks the faucet as high as it will go. But then turns it back down hours later.

This is day 7 of bleeding. Surely it will go away soon???

@AL_TwinCities  that is a wonderful idea. I quit taking my prenatal because it was a trigger to take them lately  (I know that's a stupid trigger).

    Anyway thank you all.
  • @iceandsnowflakes29 thinking of you.  Glad it's slowed down again, but please take care of yourself and go to the ER if needed.  I went to the ER after my d&c for pain and the folks there were more compassionate than those at my own (well, former) OB practice.

  • I didn't bleed as heavily as you, but in the days after the cytotec, I tried to eat a high iron diet - lots of spinach and that sort of thing - to get my iron levels back up after the blood loss.  Keep us posted - we want to know you're okay!
  • I called the dr and told the nurse everything. She asked me what my temperature is and I took it and it is 99.5. So long story I go in today at 3:40.

And my bleeding is ramped up again. I think it's pooling all night and then flows for hrs all day.

I don't know, but I'm glad to be going in because I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong.
  • I am glad you are going in, too.  Do you have someone who can go with you, if your husband is still out of town?

The dr checked my iron but I won't get that result until later today. I still had tissue left which I think I may have passed this morning. I'm on antibiotics to prevent infection and while I was in office he tried to manually remove the remaining tissue with a speculum and  the tool they use to remove iuds with.

He wanted me to do more cytotec but since I think I passed more this morning I'm going to hold off.

I go back  Tuesday.  Hopefully I'm almost done. I'm exhausted. Just physically, mentally, and emotionally drained.

Thank you again for the support. ((Hugs )) to everyone. I hope everyone has a nice Friday and does something  nice this weekend.

Eta @ThePax89  you were right. You said something once about me needing my husband. I busted into tears as soon as he walked in the door last night from his trip. I'm so glad to have him back.
  • I'm glad they're keeping an eye on you, but hopefully that was the last of the tissue.  Also glad to hear your husband came back - that must be such a relief to have your support system home.  Been thinking of you <3
  • I'm so sorry this is dragging on @iceandsnowflakes29 I am keeping everything crossed that this is over and you start recovering soon. Hugs!

  • I'm so sorry for what you went through!!! I am glad things seem to be better now.

I was like this after my D&C but my
dr told me that if I was going through a maxi pad every hour and a half or so it's fine. Just make sure I don't feel dizzy or nauseous.

It it was really hard, I think I spent more time in the bathroom than in bed.. It got a lot better after the 3rd day.

Im glad you have your mom to help out, that is always nice.

    hugs!!
