Trouble TTC

Hello! Started Clomid this week. Any advice? Also, a question about mature eggs.

Hello all!
I'm not necessarily new here, but I've not posted very often. I've gone through a few bouts of TTC, but never had any luck. My previous doctor was either ignorant to PCOS or didn't believe me, so my PCOS went diagnosed for a long time. Then came the demise of my marriage, I stopped TTC, and so life goes. However, I'm back and in a wonderful place in my life with the man I should have married in the first place. I'm seeing a new Dr. and he said he is very confident that we will be able to conceive with Clomid. I do not have my exact numbers from my blood work, but he said that my levels, while off, are not horrendous. I have had maybe 6-8 periods in the past 10 years. I'm wondering if my eggs are still healthy? Odd question I know, but I was thinking about it last might and wondered if they could be damaged at all because they have been dormant for so long. Maybe I'm hormonal and overthinking, sorry!

  • My doctor said its actually healthy to have less periods, I was on Seasonale for 6 years and only had 4 periods a year. She said that historically most women had babies every 18 mon-2 yrs so they had very few periods. I wouldn't worry too much about it!

I have PCOS as well and am starting Clomid next month. FX for both of us!

I am the same way! Only have periods about once a year, and I would be interested in knowing the answer to that question as well.

I'm also starting Clomid for the very first time and I will start taking it on Thursday! We are in this together my friend! Good luck!

PS: I am so glad that you are in a great place in your life and with the man that you are supposed to be with.....it sounds like quite the silver lining!

  • Thank you so much for the support ladies. It gives me goosebumps. I'm the only one in my family that has had an issue getting pregnant. The rest of the ladies in my family just need to think they want to be pregnant and the next thing you know, here comes a baby. It's so hard when it isn't like that for you. Women that haven't been in a position where they couldn't get pregnant don't really understand how awful it makes you feel. But, it's amazing to know there is a place to go with absolutely wonderful people like you!

  • I think we've crossed paths on the regular TTC board, and I haven't posted in TTTC yet (just lurking) but I wanted to shout out to you! LOL.

I mentioned on that board I was also diagnosed with PCOS recently. I just finished Day 5 on Monday of Provera. Just waiting on AF so I can get all of my blood work on CD 3, followed by an HSG and an US.

I had been on BCP for 10+ years, so I always got my period like clockwork. So I'm not sure about your question regarding healthy eggs. I can only hope all of ours are healthy!!

I'm happy for you that you're finally in a good place!

I hope to follow your journey, as well as @stephyM89 since we are all in a similar boat!

I am finding the same thing with my own family and friends....it seems so easy for everyone around me in real life, and it is so nice finding people who understand the struggle!
