Re: Ten Things Tuesday

  • 1) There's not enough coffee in the world today.

    2) 31 days to my C Section!!!!

    3) I wish I could go on maternity leave now instead of having to wait. My job is becoming rather loathsome.

    4) I would love to go on a vacation somewhere soon, if I only had the money

    5) I'm kind of sad I didn't have a baby shower for baby boy, but I have everything I could need

    6) I wish I could have a "sip and see" like I had originally planned, but my auntie is getting married 2 weeks after the baby is born so everyone is saving their trip to come up for that instead. So my little boy will not really have any kind of celebration either as I intended.

    7) I wouldn't feel so bad but this is my last baby.

    8) I'm kind of glad I'm getting my tubes tied this time around. I've been so miserable this pregnancy

    9) Besides that I'll be 39 this year and my goal is to have the babies all potty trained by the time I'm 41

    10) If only I can run caffeine through an IV today. I slept terrible.

  • 1. I'm so tired of being so tired, and knowing it's about to get worse is somehow exhausting me even more.

    2. I am mentally and physically checked out from work right now. Approximately 27 working days left, not that I'm counting down already or anything..

    3. We didn't have any type of shower/sprinkle this time around, and this weekend family started asking me what all I still need. "PTO hours and sleep, please."

    4. DS has a long history of ear issues, he's had tubes twice and his adenoids removed. It's been SEVERAL months since we've had any problems so the ENT suggested that we remove this second set of tubes. Literally two days after he saw the ENT, one of his ears started draining heavily again and I don't have a clue as to what to do about his surgery now.

    5. Work missed a reimbursement check for me several weeks ago and it has set off a chain reaction of financial distress ever since. I'm still so annoyed by all of it. They still haven't sent it. GIVE ME MY MONEY.

    6. My new PT exercises have me on all fours and I can't wait to hear Hs jokes about it. Not.

    7. My 5yo still sleeps with me most nights, and I know I need to move him back to his room soon but I'll secretly miss having a snuggle buddy at night. We both sleep better when he's in there. H works nights and sleeps on the couch more often than not because he stays up playing games or watching TV when he can't sleep.

    8. My sex life went from pretty good to non-existent in 3rd tri. Last time was just not good, and if we don't do something soon I'm going to be SOL until June. Even at 6w out last time, it was not comfortable. My tear was not pleasant and I bled for quite awhile. Blerghhh..

    9. Frosted Flakes and Cheerios have become a main food group for me in the last few weeks. No shame.

    10. I keep looking back at DS baby pictures and imagining a girl version of him and it's making me LOL. Gosh, he was such a serious looking little chunk! I can't wait for squishy baby snuggles again. This was at around 10w.

  • 1. I feel really guilty for how annoyed I've been with DH recently... I'm just so tired of him not knowing how to do some of the most basic ADULT CRAP. Like putting in for an address change online through the DMV... Or that he needed to pay attention at the end of it because it has a link so you can update your voter registration... I need to teach this man how to do taxes, fill out a W-4 properly, make his own doctors appointments... Last night I had to teach him how to write a check and what to put on the envelope to mail it out.

    2. Even though DH can be a complete man-child, I love him completely and I'm more than willing be to the adult for both of us.

    3. I broke down after dinner because I've gotten to the point where I can't understand how I'm supposed to work until I go into labor. Everything hurts, and my job is 75% lifting.

    4. DS passed out at 9:30 last night. Thank goodness.

    5. I spent about an hour and a half last night with my head on DH's lap while he played video games. Pretty much the entire time I was whimpering in pain from BH.

    6. I hope the weather is clear for maternity photos on Saturday. Come on, Oregon, cooperate!

    7. Around 3 AM I woke up really thirsty and with the absolute worst heartburn.

    8. I can't wait until all of the boxes in the living room are gone.

    9. DS happily screams "mom" when he sees me in the evenings when I pick him up after work. He used to just ask for daddy. I'm starting to feel a little loved.

    10. The trailer for Sausage Party looks stupid and hilarious.

  • 1.  I am uncomfortable.  I am done being pregnant.  Officially.
    2.  I was on my feet all day yesterday.  Today and tomorrow are no different due to all the visits we have.  I hope the dr doesn't freak when he sees my feet.
    3.  Thank god I gave up heels months ago.
    4. I am interested to see what happens with the polls tonight.
    5.  I am still dragging after daylight savings.
    6. DH needs to come home, I miss him.
    7.  I have a good feeling about our house on the market.
    8.  I appreciate my mom staying with us for so long but I am also happy she has other things to do this weekend and I can be lazy.
    9. I never understood why women would take off before baby is born, but the more uncomfortable I get at my desk the more I get it.
    10. My MIL decided to take it upon herself and transfer money into DHs personal account...just because.  Um ok...I am too tired to fight.

  • 1. STILL on bedrest. The doctor says I can go back to work on Monday when I've passed 37 weeks. I hate burning through my sick/vacation time like this!!!

    2. I'm tired of heartburn. So, so, so tired of it.

    3. I have never peed this much in my life. I'm in the bathroom every hour!

    4. Thank goodness for Netflix and Duolingo or I would be losing my mind stuck in my house like this.

    5. I got maaaaybe 3 hours of sleep last night, in half hour chunks. Not sure if it's hormones or anxiety or just that I'm not burning any energy during the day, but man, I'm wiped out.

    6. I need to learn to nap.

    7. Everyone is making bets on when the baby's going to come. The general consensus is early rather than late. We'll see!

    8. There's a wedding happening at my house a week before my due date. I'm not thrilled.

    9. Annie's pasta makes pizza rolls and they're DELICIOUS and relatively healthy. This is the best discovery.

    10. I'm so tired (and I know it won't get better for the next ten years at least)

  • 1. Woke up at 2 and couldn't go back to sleep till 6...seems like a my new daily thing

    2. So over being pregnant.

    3. I'm only 34+3 but I have a gut feeling LO is coming between 36/37. Right when I stop my nifedipine.

    4. I have a fear of my water breaking in bed (it's new)

    5. I was that horrible coupon lady everyone hates at the check out stand this past weekend...so many coupons for buy buy baby but worth it.

    6. Addicted to Words with Friend...anyone want to play? :)

    7. Finally getting our maid service tomorrow yay!

    8. DH wants to take FML about 2/3 weeks early since we both feel like baby will be here soon. I hope we can manage financially :/

    9. I feel like a turtle on its back when I'm on the couch or bed.

    10. I hope this acne goes away after baby arrives.
  • 1)  Tuesday needs to become the new Friday.  Work has been an intolerable exercise in sitting and trying to look busy for 8 hours.  15 working days to go in theory...

    2) We have no data on our phone plan for this month, so I've been reduced to bumping during lunch and our morning break.  One more week to go...

    3)  I've managed to survive so far (*knock on wood*) the stomach flu that ravaged DH and DD last week.

    4)  At my doctors appointment yesterday, OB said baby was free to come at any point, but I would probably put money on the fact he'll show up late.

    5) I made waffles with cinnamon chips for dinner last night.  They were pretty delicious.  Breakfast for dinner needs to become a weekly ritual in our household.

    6)  I stupidly signed up for baking for a company bake sale on Friday.   I used to love baking, but that was before I had to do everything after 7 pm (now closer to 8 pm-thanks Day Light savings!) because it revolves around DD's bed time.

    7)  I really am itching to go on a real vacation-like get on a plane and fly to Europe style vacation-but having the sad realization that with two kids those dreams are like 4-5 years out.  *Sigh*

    8) DH got some really promising career news yesterday and that they would like hire him from his contract status by the end of the year (budget contingent).  This would result in his salary doubling pretty much as soon as it was effective.

    9) Since he called about that I have been searching out plots of land for us to build our "dream house".  Unfortunately land in our target area is short supply and more expensive than we anticipated : /

    10)  Even though I am not a fan of being pregnant and this is definitely our last kid, there is a small piece of me that is sad about it ending forever. Plus I'm imagining that life while hectic now with 1 kid, will truly be crazy once I have two kids on the outside.
  • 1. DH informed me yesterday that we can go shopping for a king mattress...I am so stupid excited, it's ridiculous!

    2. I'm currently lounging in my recliner watching Say Yes To the Dress after getting a prenatal massage, facial, and foot reflexology treatment this morning.

    3. For the first time in a week and a half, DD slept through the ENTIRE night!!!! 8:30 to 7! Nevermind I was in and out of sleep from 1am on add I was just waiting for her to wake up, I'm just so glad DH finally got a full night of sleep.

    4. Yesterday we had the water table out for DD (the pool wouldn't inflate), I wore a tank and shorts, and basked in the sun...it was 90°. Felt more like summer break than spring break.

    5. I decided to go back to work for a 4 day week after spring break rather than be done now, it's another $600 in our pocket, so worth it.

    6. I had cake for breakfast.

    7. DH informed me this child is NOT allowed to come before April 1st or our Aflac policy won't pay out $1,500 to us. It needs to be a minimum of 9 months from the policy effective date, it was effective July 1st. I'm due the 6th. DH thinks she'll come exactly on the first, since he's a prankster and an April Fool's baby makes sense.

    8. DD won't nap. Maybe we'll go on a Carter's outlet trip instead...

    9. After this morning, I'm now planning a couples massage for our 5 year anniversary this year since we can't go away like we'd talked about before with a 2 month old.

    10. Savannah, my dog, had gotten so ridiculously attached to me lately. She did the exact same thing right before DD1 came...

  • 1. For the first night in forever, I slept through to my alarm  which was unfortunately set 30 minutes early so I could go vote  I live in what is like the 2nd largest precinct in my area because it's a small enough town to only have one polling place, but big enough that it's a pain in the ass.

    2. DH got his 2nd sale this weekend, which means he gets another $250-$500 bonus, depending on when the house closes...wooohoo!

    3. LO has gotten really still lately. Still able to get my kick count, but I swear daylight savings time messed her up more than it did me.

    4. Tomorrow is going to be 85 degrees. What the heck.

    5. 11-ish working days left!

    6. I *think* DH and I have finally settled on a name!

    7. Primaries are over after today in NC, which means no more local political ads. YAY!

    8. Trump is leading in NC...BOOOO

    9. Not really a fan of TTT, but it is a really successful way to procrastinate.

    10. I keep seeing pictures of pitt bull puppies on my Facebook and I really want one. I have to keep telling myself that a baby is going to be enough work, I don't need another dog...
  • 1. My insurance allows me to get my free breast pump 31 days out from my due date... that's today... 31 days is a month... holy heck.
    2. Only 20 working days left! Again... holy heck.
    3. I'm volunteering at a community event on Saturday (second Saturday in a row to do an event) and it's supposed to be like 90 degrees... ummm.... no thanks.
    4. We sliced into our top tier yesterday for our anniversary! My mom vacuum sealed our cake and it defrosted perfectly... it was still moist (eww I hate that word) and flavorful and delicious!! I can't wait to have more tonight!
    5. I've started having this pain in the bottom of my heel when I bend over or flex my foot... it's not fun.
    6. Our nursery is almost done! Oh I can't wait, but at the same time I love working on getting it ready!
    7. I had a crazy dream about baby dropping last night... so bizarre.
    8. DH and I mounted a TV on our outdoor patio this weekend! We are grilling tonight, so I'm pretty sure we will be having dinner al fresco!
    9. Although it's warming up quick here in AZ, the pool isn't getting the memo. It needs to hurry up because mama wants to be a submarine!
    10. After pretty consistent contractions all last week, I'm really happy they've slowed down! Stay in there baby girl!
  • 1. My mom and aunt are coming over to my house to paint our basement bathroom and family room tomorrow. Once their done being painted both of those remodeling projects will finally be complete!
    2. My mom is bringing egg salad over for lunch tomorrow and I'm far to happy and excited about that.
    3. I have to do laundry, vacuum, and clean the bathrooms today. It's 2:30 and I've done nothing.
    4. It's been warm enough out over the last few weeks that the bugs and snakes have emerged. The biggest garden snake ever was on our back step when I took the dogs out at noon until the Pomeranian noticed and killed it.
    5. The Pomeranian got a bath today because she reeked of dead snake. YUCK!
    6. DH has a project for work that he has to do from 7 pm to 1 am tonight on top of his 8 to 5 day shift. He also has to be back to work at 7 tomorrow morning which means he is going to be a huge grump tomorrow night.
    7. While DH is working tonight I think I might work on organizing the nursery and getting some pictures up on the walls.
    8. I'm making hot beef sandwiches tonight using the leftover pot roast from dinner last night. It's going to be delicious!
    9. With all of the online shopping I've done for this baby, our recycling bin is overflowing! I wish they would pick it up every week because every other week is just not enough. I'm so thankful that our neighbors allowed us to almost fill theirs as well.
    10. DH agreed to get a netflix membership. Hello binge watching all of the tv I want during this last month of pregnancy!
  • 1: My sleep schedule is so whack right now I can barely function... No matter what time I try to go to bed I can't fall asleep until around 4-5AM and then I have to be up at 7:45 to take fiancé to work. Yesterday I had a cup of coffee to help me stay awake, skipped taking a nap, and did a crap ton of stuff around the house to keep awake. Still didn't crash until after 5. I hate not getting enough sleep >.<

2: Fiancé and I got into an arguement about cloth diapering last night because he doesn't want to wash his hands after changing a diaper. Me: Bro... Are you seriously not planning on washing your hands after wiping away shit or piss off another person's rear end? Him: Oh... Well when you put it like that I guess it makes sense. (Smh)

3: Now that I've got a good portion of my CD stash I'm annoyed with the idea of prepping it all >.< Why did I get sooooo many microfiber inserts???? Six washes in hot water? You kidding me?

4: Totally gonna start a CD stash thread when I get everything in. I have no problem being an AW :P

5: Went to a farmer's market this morning after dropping fiancé off at work. Really tiny one, won't go back again. Had a really rude black chick tell me I'm a princess for asking if they take cards because I'm out of cash. Her literal words "You kidding me? What you think this is princess?" Me "A produce stand that doesn't want my money" and I walked off. (I still need bell peppers and onions for dinner now...)

6: I spent too much money at Target. I know fiancé won't care, but I do. The poor kid in me cringes every time I spend more than I intend to :/

7: I don't think sex is going to happen again until (well) after LO is here. I'm really depressed when I think about that, but I'm also so uncomfortable it's probably for the best.

8: My grandma just informed me that my cousin wants to get corn rows put in. She is beside herself over how trashy he is lol. I just kinda laughed because I remember his Emenim phase back in mid school, and when he dropped out of highschool because he was too cool for the teachers to be told what to do.

9: Studio just scheduled a performance on the day we have planned to go to Disney. It's probably my grandma's last year of being able to go, and it will be my first year going as a mother. (We go every year for Mother's Day. Huge tradition for over a decade now) Told my boss I will be out of town and he got a little annoyed because I missed their last performance which was this past weekend... I couldn't go because they sold out of tickets for the show I could make it to, AND I'm glad it didn't go anyway because at least ten people got a stomach flu!

10: I need to go eat something... But that I cloves moving... I think I'm gonna jump on that cereal train...
  • @Knottie9983816 I'm working on washing the inserts too. Such a pain. I have washed them 4 or 5 times (I can't remember now) but I still don't think they are absorbent enough. I was washing them on cold though....

How do you know if they are absorbent enough? Is there a way to test this... I washed mine with the special detergent they said with cold and assumed that was good.

Uh... I was just gonna test it by running water on it... If it runs right off it clearly isn't ready. I have heard that you have to use warm water for that to work though. Idk. Waiting for everything to come in, then inventory what I have, and make a game plan from there.

I was wondering that when I began but one set of diapers I bought were used and I re-washed those inserts separately and I seriously had to keep turning the dryer back on to get those suckers to feel dry; but when I have been washing the new ones, especially the first couple times, they dried quite fast so I'm guessing they might be good to go when I have to dry them longer.
  • @RoseShadow873 did you strip the used ones? I have three my mom got me from a consignment shop that I need to strip, and I completely forgot to buy peroxide at target today. (Allergic to bleach)

No I didn't do anything special since I talked to the lady who was selling them and she sounded like she did everything right and she only used them for about a month on her kid so they were in great condition. I hope it's ok.... I'm pretty confused about this stuff. Honestly I'm not sure how much I need to prep the inserts I have since I don't know what they are all made of but they didn't seem as absorbent as the used ones so I thought they needed washed more.  :/

After poring over many CD websites, I believe knowing what the inserts are made of is key to getting them prepped correctly. I bought a variety of inserts and prepped the microfibre ones separately from the organic hemp/cotton inserts, always with hot water. This site is useful to me and may give you some idea as to what your inserts are made of:

Also you don't have to dry them in the prepping phase, it's the water running constantly through them that ups the absorbancy, so once you can just run them through the cycles without drying in between until you're all done. I also read this should help cut down on the cycles.

I also agree on the stripping of any used diapers. My really close friend gave me a few hand-me-down AIOs and I trust her completely and am still going to strip those suckers. They were still on another child's bum with their pee and poop on them - that is not going on my child without at least a good bleaching!
  • @emgee27 I didn't even know stripping was a thing. How is it done? I don't even own any bleach.

It's pretty confusing. Maybe I don't need to strip the diapers I have since fluffloveuniversity says this about stripping:

"Hold on there, Thunder. While stripping diapers is a wonderful tool to help rejuvenate diapers, it is not a gentle process. Extended soaking of diapers is hard on fabric, especially when soaking in such a caustic solution. That’s why we don’t recommend stripping diapers regularly or even frequently. Stripping is not the way you get clean diapers. You get clean diapers with a good wash routine. Stripping is an extreme process used to correct months or years of improper washing, not something you do just for fun. If your diapers are clean out of the wash, there is no need to strip."

If you trust the person you bought from and their word on how they cared for their diapers, then go for it.  :)

For me, I don't tend to trust anything I didn't do myself. One 'harsh' stripping of diapers is totally worth it to me for peace of mind. I consider stripping a 'start over' and from then on, I know how I'll care for those diapers and should not need to strip again. I am going to strip, then run the pre-loved diapers through a regular wash routine cycle before use myself.
  • @RoseShadow873 what she said. I'm only stripping the ones I got from the consignment shop. The rest are new. I also wash all the clothes I get from other people too...
