Sorry if this is too long, but I had to vent right now. So the surgeon that's removing my polyp put me on BC, a brand that I've never used before- April. I've used Yaz in the past and the lowest dose cause it always made me slightly nauseous, esp the first week of taking it. So now, not only am I doing the opposite of what we are all trying to accomplish here, but im taking the anti baby pill. The reason I need to take it is so I have a thin lining in my uterus wall so it's easier for him to take it out. The 1st 2 days of taking the pill were fine, but the 3rd day, my body literally rejected it. I woke up in the middle of the night, felt the chills and my stomach just went upside down. I never actually vomit. The last time it's ever happened to me was like 5 years ago and I had a stomach virus. So the next day I took a break from the pill (which was yesterday) and of course I felt fine. I went back on it again today and I just feel terrible.... It's like, isn't it shitty enough that I have to go through this surgery aaand this BC has to make me feel like crap!!?! I called the Dr and he said I have to keep taking it, there isn't a lighter dose. Really??? If anybody has experience with this, please let me know. I feel soooo nauseous, I have a terrible head ache and my face is breaking out like crazy, I can't move and I can't eat anything :'(

  • Hi, sorry to hear you feel so rough from the pill.
It probably has to do with the combination estrogen and progesterone in Apri that is different in Yaz...
Which is tough, as I have been taken the two together since January and have been slightly nauseous ever since.
Im not sure it's a lighter dose that will do the same trick, but it's the different combinations of estrogen/progesterone or ethinylestradiol (last is in Yaz) which probably does what your doctor wants it to do.
Ill hope you get used to the side-effects really soon.
    GL on your journey!

Thank you @tvh1982 you think maybe I should take it at a different time of the day? I've been taking it in the afternoon after lunch.
  • Yeah I would try taking it a different time. Unfortunately the Drs know what they are doing and they have to put u on the appropriate hormone. Even starting my fet cycle I was on birth control for 2 weeks. Keep your head up and know they are taking care of you. As far as the nausea I'd let your dr know and maybe they can help you!

  • Yes, try a different time @mamma1614. See if that helps. Do have salty crackers nearby to eat. I find that that has helped me with my nausea.
Hope you don't have to be on bc to long!
