Mine's been lovely thus far. I shot her an email the other day updating her on my situation and she marked me off as sick for two weeks and said I don't need paperwork if I can go back after that. I'm an RN on a young floor though, so they're used to KU nurses and stuff.
I won't be telling the fire department until June. I have to suck it up and do the job or go on medical. So we haven't told a soul. Not one friend, family member, or co-worker. If it comes to a point where I don't feel I can be safe then I will go off earlier.
Fair enough. I do Night Audit, so I had to get schedule modifications while we were dong IVF. So my immediate managers knew something was going on. I don't think she was trying too, but my mgr talked to me the other day about protocol (which is fair) but made me feel like I was inconveniencing the whole team. Ugh.
I don't have recurring night shifts, thank goodness! But sometimes I am working overnight attending births (I am a doula), and I am really worried about how that's going to go when it does happen. How have you been coping with being up all night with the fatigue and other symptoms of pregnancy? My "shifts" as such are almost always at least 12 hours of being totally on with little opportunity for breaks, and at least a third of the time I'm up all night. More often than not I'm with families for even longer that that if this is the client's first baby.
I've been drinking a cup at work every night. Gotta keep the brain functioning! From what I've read, it's safe as long as your intake is less than 200 mg. How long have you worked in critical care?
I went from a ton of coffee a night to like one tiny one very couple of days. The cravings just turned off once we had our transfer. I've been chugging water like crazy though, so I don't know if that has something to do with it.
