Glucose rant! Arrgfhh!!

Just finished my 1 hr test - I feel pukey and awful, fasted, drank my drank and finished at 720am.

My glucose was 150, BUT SHE PULLED THE BLOOD 10 MINUTES TOO EARLY!

So now I have to do the 3 hr test and they cant get me in for another 3 weeks - Ill be 31 weeks at that point.  The nurse isnt worried about it because "youre probably a false positive anyway since we pulled too early."

Are you F-ING kidding me?! Do it right the first time so I dont lose a day of work and have to endure that hellish test.

Uggghh.  Seriously so annoyed right now.

That is pretty shitty. I would be upset too. I'm sorry you have to deal with that :( I also had to do the 3hr due to a false positive.

  • That's annoying!! It is a big time commitment. :( I just brought lots of random things to work on, so I did accomplish some things....
  • I can't imagine 10 min making that big of a difference. Either way that's crappy that they are makin g you do the 3hr one...I would have why did you draw early then.
  • I dont know if it makes a difference in human medicine, but at least in my Veterinary patients, weve seen big changes in 15 minute spans (for instance, if a patient is a little low, we may check 15 min later and find that the number has changed by 10-20 points).  With a 150, 10 points of change would put me normal!! >:\
  • I just took my 3 hour at 30 weeks 6 days. Since you have to wait 3 weeks, do you think maybe you can talk to your doctor and see if they'd be okay with you testing your blood sugar for the next 2 weeks instead of taking the 3 hour test? I've read some doctors allow that. The only downside is you have to prick 4 times a day and keep a journal of what your readings are instead of just getting it over with in one morning.
