Rants/Raves/Questions? When is everyone starting to look into creating a registry? I know it isprobably way too early but I am so excited for it.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? No cravings or aversions really. Mostly GI symptoms. Constipation came back full force after a brief reprieve . Also I am not sleeping well at night, waking up after about 3 hours and not being able to fall back to sleep.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? Not really superstitious, except for occasionally knocking on wood.
How many weeks? 15! Still going so fast, I feel like 16 is another milestone though it isn't.. I think I just like the weeks that are factors of 4
What size? A navel orange - holy moly! I have one in my lunchbox.. that's a big ol' baby! Ovia gives me an ECLAIR as the best option for this week (YES! Although should I really want to eat my baby?),
Upcoming appointments? Next week... will be the first appointment that I bring my son to (15 months old), should be interesting.. it's right when he usually goes down for a nap.. yay?
Rants/Raves/Questions? Nada
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Symptoms - nothing. No real cravings, I just think of food and want it. No aversions
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? I actually don't think so, at least none of the usual ones... although I have always made wishes on eyelashes, not sure if I really believe in it but I do believe in the power of positive thinking - so maybe? I always wish to get pregnant when trying and wish for pregnancy to stick in the early weeks.
What size? A lemon or house mouse. Not my favorite of the animal comparisons.
Upcoming appointments? Next appt is the 16 week on the 31st.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Are any belly sleepers still able to sleep on their stomach? I'm freaking myself out because I still can and feel like I shouldn't be comfortable on it anymore. This is despite being fairly certain I was able to do it until 16 weeks with DD. The stupidest stuff worries me, but I can't help it.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Feeling pretty good. Boobs are a little sore, and starting to notice belly hair growing. I had a craving for ice cream on Sunday. We were going to get a half gallon when we went grocery shopping, and they didn't have any out! The section of the freezer that it's in was being emptied, and they didn't relocate the food at all. So on the way home, DH stopped at a local ice cream place, and we had that. Sooo good. I've been craving watermelon as well, but got one that wasn't ripe enough and had to throw it out. Watermelon was a big craving with DD as well.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? Not really. I'll do the knock on wood occasionally, but I don't really think it works or anything.
@camichael84- I got better sleep after my son was born just because I could sleep on my belly again. I have been starting on my side, or kind of half way between tummy and side and wake up on my stomach - sometimes it's sore so I'm really trying not to sleep on it. I think that's part of what's waking me up, is being so obsessive over what position I'm sleeping in. A friend is bringing in a pregnancy pillow for me, hoping that helps.. I miss good belly sleep!!
@AnnaS930 DD has been to a couple of my appts, and she even went with me in December when I had my yearly. The last one is the first time she didn't do well. Not that she was terrible, but she spent the whole appt trying to gibber loudly over the nurse then OB. I've brought a snack and books every time, just in case. The 16 week appt is usually fairly quick, so I'm sure your son will be fine, too!
Upcoming appts? Tomorrow! This is the appt that seems like I've been waiting for forever. Looking forward to hearing the heartbeat on Doppler for the first time.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm just going to complain about this stupid cold that I have on top of my regular symptoms. Why can't I just feel good?
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions: I feel like my body missed the message about feeling better in the second trimester. All of the sudden my migraines are in full force and the nausea and vomitting is becoming a daily thing. I haven't had much of an appetite. Bread and carbs have been my stand by this week. A happy accident...I put a Gatorade in the freezer to get it cold and I forgot about it. I took it out and it was like a slushie. Now that hit the spot!
GTKY: Any superstitions? I knock on wood, but I don't think I have any other superstitions.
@AnnaS930 I was having some times that I was uncomfortable on my stomach earlier in this pregnancy, that I'm certain was more bowel related than anything. That got me trying to avoid being on it, but sometimes I roll over in my sleep, and sometimes I do it consciously because it's the only way I can get comfortable. I end up turning back over fearing I shouldn't be on it anymore. The past week I've let myself get worked up thinking my uterus should be big enough that it should be uncomfortable. I think I'm overthinking it, and letting it get to me.
@Thscary I'll start my registry after the anatomy scan. Of course, this time I'm only doing one for completion discounts and to have a list of what we will need. And it'll be a much shorter list. However, we waited until after the anatomy scan with DD as well. Just made things easier because we could register for gender specific things at that point.
@camichael84- I'm sure he'll be fine for the appointment with some snacks/books like you said. Hoping she finds the heartbeat quickly with the doppler, that's the only time I expect him to be a handful - he likes to be involved in everything and will unlikely sit quietly. I'm sure a nurse can come help entertain him for a few, the office is wonderful and all really want me to bring him in anyway.
You're definitely overthinking the size of the uterus/sleeping situation. I've had a lot of lower abdominal pain this pregnancy (from straining to poop) and that's probably what the pain is. I think I slept somewhat on my belly way further into my last (by rolling at night)
@AnnaS930 My OB's office has been great with having her in there as well. I'm with the same OB, and it's almost always been the same nurse, too. They always seem happy to see her, and were even humoring her gibberish at the last appt. That has made me feel better about having to take her.
How many weeks? 13 weeks, on the ides of March. It has me spooked :P
What size? A peach...that seems pretty sizeable
Upcoming appointments? Today! FINALLY! I'm so excited to hear baby's HB for the first time! I just hope everything is going ok!
Rants/Raves/Questions? None - I'm ready for today's appointment so I can shout this pregnancy from the rooftops
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? The past week has been ok mostly. I was pretty tired all day Sunday, but I had an all day rehearsal Saturday after working all week, so I'm sure it's more likely due to that
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? Yes, like I said above, 13 weeks on the ides of March has me freaked out. In general I don't get too caught up in superstitions but it's just a weird combo.
@camichael84 I am still sleeping on my belly at 13 weeks. With DS I made it to 20 before having to shift to my side. I did have a couple weeks where it was more uncomfortable and now it's back to being comfortable. I'm going to assume the baby has moved up and now has more of a buffer between (ie. my belly fat :P) making it more comfortable for me.
@thscary I plan on starting a registry after confirmation of sex or after the a/s scan. I'm not registering for a shower, but more or less a completion coupon and the discount for myself since this will be my second. We won't need much.
@diagonalley- Two spooky things like that must just cancel each other out and result in really good luck! Hope you have a wonderful appointment!
@Thscary - Similar to others, I will do my registry after the 20 week ultrasound.. last time my husband and I went out to lunch and hit up Babies R Us - it was a great day. I will be putting items on there for a completion coupon and for ideas for people to buy me (I live in Maine.. we aren't concerned with tackiness or being gift-grabby). I've had a handful of friends say how excited they are for baby shower #2.. how can I say no to that?! A registry helps make it easy to pick some things out since we already have a houseful of baby stuff. Yay.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Huge Rant! I had my Harmony bloodwork drawn two weeks ago. Obviously I was nervous to get the results, but the days ticked by without me hearing from the doctor. Finally, 14 days after the initial draw, I called the doctor's office. They had just gotten the results in and the results were inconclusive! Why did it take 14 days to come to that? So I had to get it redrawn and now I'm starting the two week wait time all over again. Patience is not one of my virtues, anyway, so this is just torture.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Still can't handle sweets.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? Not really, though I try not to put stuff out into the world that is negative for fear that it will come back to bite me in the ass. For instance, when I was in high school I wanted to go on a weekend trip with my boyfriend, but was scheduled to work and couldn't find anyone to cover my shift. I lied and said my grandfather died and felt so horrible that I couldn't even enjoy my trip. I was also terrified that something was going to happen to my grandfather because of my lie, and never did anything like that again. Kind of off topic, but as close as I get to superstition.
Upcoming appointments? There is one next week, I'm sure of it. Still haven't called to check since I lost my card...
Rants/Raves/Questions? I wish my husband would be a goddamned gentleman and give me the bed already. He snores like a truck and it keeps me awake even with earplugs, so I always end up on the couch and sleep horribly. But ask HIM to move to the couch and it's the most offensive, unimaginable thing. I kinda figure that the sick pregnant lady should get the bed, but what do I know? I'm going to reassemble our guest room and move in there until he takes his noisy ass to the doctor.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I need lobster and macaroni salad, the same craving I had with my son. I got plenty of macaroni salad last time, but it didn't count I guess because I didn't get any lobster to go with it. This pregnancy, I WILL have my lobster.
@rfrazier611, have you tried those Mack's Ultra foam earplugs? My husband's snoring is unbelievable, but if I use those (it's supposed to block 32 decibels of noise) I can usually sleep. Every once in a while, when he rolls over and snores right in my face, they don't work.
Upcoming appointments? Still waiting for the 23rd of this month.
Rants/Raves/Questions? nah
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Still having morning sickness. I had one good week where I ate (last week) and now it's back.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? I don't but my Chinese in-laws do. My mother-in-law is doing a great job of not being overbearing though. I'm really proud of her.
@Ssoccerball- You're expecting twins right? Do the genetic tests work well for twins these days? My sister's are 4 years old and I seem to remember her opting out of the testing because they got a lot of false positives back then in multiple births. I haven't done genetic testing for either of my pregnancies so I really know nothing of them except that they tell you if you're at a higher risk but are not conclusive to if something is truly wrong, is that still true?
@AnnaS930, my doctor's office said (and the websites of the companies advertise) that the test works on twins. If the results come back that there is high risk for a chromosomal abnormality, though, you just won't know which baby has the issue. Always the optimist, I was just hoping that we'd get great results and I'd have the peace of mind of knowing that everything was okay. My inconclusive results were due to "quality control" and the doctor's office had no idea what that meant.
@Ssoccerball- That makes perfect sense.. maybe that was the same 4 years ago and my sister didn't like the idea of not knowing who was what (She also used her smalltown, excellent but very old school OBGYN who probably suggested otherwise/wasn't fully informed). Quality control - sounds like they didn't have a large enough sample or something completely unrelated to you. No news is so hard to deal with after 2 weeks (I'm not very patient). Fingers crossed for conclusive, great results!
@rfrazier611, have you tried those Mack's Ultra foam earplugs? My husband's snoring is unbelievable, but if I use those (it's supposed to block 32 decibels of noise) I can usually sleep. Every once in a while, when he rolls over and snores right in my face, they don't work.
I haven't tried those, but he even makes the bed shake. I think it's more the vibrating bed that wakes me at this point rather than the snoring.
@jln27I'm sorry that you're feeling some regret over the NT scan. Those concerns you voice are the exact reason I haven't/won't do it.. it's a slippery slope for a worrier like myself. Great results are great (though of course not a guarantee), but any level of risk and you have to start wondering how far to go in terms of testing/worrying. I hope that Friday brings you some clarity as to where to go next
@AnnaS930 Thank you so much. I actually just got the results a moment ago, and the genetic counselor was confident that no further testing should be needed. It's a great relief, but again, I still wish I hadn't done it and caused myself and my husband such anxiety in the first place. I'm going to take the GC at her word and put my worrying about this to rest so I can finally start enjoying my pregnancy. Well, as long as I don't throw up again haha.
I hope all of you Tuesday ladies don't mind me joining your party! I've been doing Friday's but my doc is sticking with a 9-27 due date and there's no way I'll make it til then anyway.
How many weeks? 12
What size? Toy soldier or ripe apricot
Upcoming appointments? NT next Wednesday
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm just stressed! I got a call from our realtor that someone wants to see our house this weekend, and it's totally not ready. It's not even on the market yet!
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Chicken and coffee are not my friends.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? My grandma always said not to pick up pennies that are head down. I still won't!
How many weeks? 12 What size? Lime Upcoming appointments? One tomorrow Rants/Raves/Questions?
Just hoping I have more energy soon. I am way too tired lately
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Craving all the foods.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? I'm a bit superstitious, but not in a way that prevents me from doing anything, I mostly do things for luck like cross my fingers, and make wishes on dandilions and eyelashes
@Ssoccerball that stinks that you had to call for results after 14 days! Hope your redraw doesn't take too long. A twin mom on our pregnant after 35 board had to do a redraw too and just got good news.
Upcoming appointments? 1st appointment with the OB 3/23
Rants/Raves/Questions? Got my Harmony results back and baby is low risk! And it's a girl!
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I'm just growing. Very happy that my new bras should arrive tomorrow and that there's only 3 more days until spring break. I'll be ready to let the blump show after break.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? My stepmom gave me a jade necklace years ago. I've always loved it, but I began wearing it regularly after she passed away late last year. Jade is supposed to bring good luck so I made sure to wear it to my IUI and I've been wearing it almost every day since. And when the clasp falls to the front I say a little prayer for the baby as I put it back. It doesn't quite feel obsessive, but I'm afraid it may get there....
Upcoming appointments? I have one next week and we'll schedule the "big" ultrasound.
Rants/Raves/Questions? nope.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? The heartburn has started. I lived on tums through the last pregnancy, seems like this one will be the same.
GTKY: Do you have any superstitions? Not really. I mean, I usually talk about the baby in terms of "if". I'm always afraid to make it a sure thing until the baby is actually here in my arms.
Evelyn (3.24.10), Graham (5.30.13) & Miles (8.28.16)
@BernieRae, thank you for sharing that...I hope that's the case. I've now convinced myself that I'm going to get another "inconclusive" because I don't want to get my hopes up.
I also think of 16 weeks as a milestone and then I feel like I consider every 4 weeks from there a milestone.
No idea why. Well probably 20 weeks because of the anatomy scan. Then which week is considered viability? I thought it was 24, but I could be wrong. Maybe that's why I like every 4 weeks. It also kind of lines up with my appts.
