Day light savings time

for you STM ... I was wondering how you dealt with this? Did it mess with your LO head? my DS normally goes to bed at 730. When day light savings time happens tomorrow do I still keep his bed time 730 or would it be moved to 830.

I feel like I'm maybe over thinking it too much. Lol

Re: Day light savings time

  • We didn't follow the clock with the change so it'd be the moving it back to 8:30. If that works for you I'd leave it. If not, we found a gradual shift easier on everyone.

  • Over thinking it, stick to routine, they will work themselves out.
  • I used to freak out over it with DD but I didn't really have the luxury of working on gradually helping her with the change during the week since we had to leave for work and daycare at the same time daily. They'll catch up to the time change eventually as the week goes by.

  • Ok I figured I was overthinking it! Thanks for your responses!
  • So glad I live in AZ, no daylight savings no worry!
  • Since daylight savings time is changed only in two weeks in Germany I would be glad to read your experiences here!
  • definitely overthinking it. It's just an hour change. My LO does that when its NOT daylight savings time. She will wake an hour early or an hour later at times.

  • @andreaAL11 lucky!! Wish the rest of the country would do away with it!
  • Last night I set the clocks ahead around 5 pm. DD didn't nap well yesterday and I ultimately had to keep her up when she probably would have gone to sleep at 7 (with time change) but she hadn't nursed. I nursed her and rocked her and had her down by 8:45 (technically 7:45). She wound up sleeping great. I just treated last night like any other night, but got her down 20 minutes after she usually goes down. Hopefully tonight we'll be back on track.
  • It was actually really nice for us. DH works nights and I used to have to go to bed right before he got up to get enough sleep with DS before the sun rose. Now that the sun rises "later" I put DS to bed around the same time but he sleeps an hour later so I can stay up with DH another hour before he heads to work.
  • Daylight savings time blows. That is all.
  • Wait until they are toddlers! Haha DS is almost 3 so it doesn't affect him as much, but the first few years are rough, and the fall is always worse. Always. :(
