  • @laurenmdrn16 DST is hitting me really hard this year. I am so exhausted that I keep dozing at my desk. Also, I hope you're feeling better! It might be that you just overdid it this weekend. Definitely bring it up to the Dr tomorrow!
  • Week/Fruit: 30/Cucumber (tomorrow) Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rant - had some bright red bleeding for a few days so I had to go in to be monitored. They showed I was contracting so they gave me steroids for baby's lungs, and said my outer cervix was at 1cm, but inner was closed (didn't know they measured two different places?). Was put on modified bed rest until my appt tomorrow for further review. Rave - because I wasn't having contractions yesterday, I was able to come to work (desk job) and sit on my ball. I need to be out of the house - kudos to everyone who has to go through bed rest at all - you mamas are strong. Symptoms - spotting, achey (my vag hurts), and now my butt is achey with those shots! Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow for U/S and 30 week check up. Questions for the group: How soon does the inner cervix follow the outer cervix in terms of opening? Never realized they measured in two places so I'm curious now. GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner? I haven't been.... but I'm about to go read everyone's answers to steal some!

@Aquinna82 - Questions for the group:  Anyone else notice their heart racing at times for no reason?  I used to be on a medication for rapid heart rate, and I'm wondering if it's a flare in my condition or a normal part of pregnancy.  Planning to bring it up with my doctor on Thursday. ^^I had this issue ALOT in the second trimester - I have a heart condition too so I was freaking out, but my doctor said heart palpitations are fairly common in pregnancy, and as long as I rested and it went away after a few minutes, I was fine. Definitely let your doctor know, but mine is nearly gone now. You are farther along than me so maybe if you take on more blood at those weeks, it comes back? edited to tag
  • @hellogoodbye2 @aliciaD39  Thanks!!  That's good to know...I was getting nervous because  I know the particular medication I was on was not safe for pregnancy.  I weaned off of it in order to get pregnant and I haven't had any issues until 2 weeks ago when it started racing periodically without stimulation.
  • @Aquinna82 I've had intermittent heart racing/palpitations throughout pregnancy. I have them off and on when I'm not pregnant, but they're usually worse when I am.  My doctor didn't seem overly concerned about it, it since you were on medication prior to getting KU, I think it's definitely worth bringing up!

@laurenmdrn16 Yes, DST hit me hard.  It actually had he opposite affect on me.  I went to bed an hour earlier than normal?!  I think it might just be another wave of 3rd tri exhaustion honestly.  And my nausea, which finally went away around 26 weeks, has made a sudden reappearance.  Ugh!

Yea the couple times it happened to me I wasn't doing anything. My heart raced and I felt dizzy. I closed my eyes and breathed through it. It's scary, but my doc assured that it was normal especially in late pregnancy. I hope you don't have to experience that again!

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Once again feel like I can't complain too much because it's been a breeze until now, however, little one seems to still be turning and I'm getting a lot of upper rib thumping. My DH has told me to stop making painful faces because it makes him nervous. K.

On a good note - we've secured our in-home care! She's amazing and a street away from us (who could've ever planned for that..!). Now we just need a peditrician....

Upcoming Appointments: On bi-weekly appointments - last appt OB said she was head down but I feel she's horizontal today.

Questions for the group: None that I can think of currently.

GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner? No... Should I?? We have been so lax it's unreal. I am so Type A and don't even know how to handle my lack of freak-out-ness! We took a baby care class but decided to skip the birthing class due to a lot of people saying you typically throw what you've learned out the door and it doesn't go as expected. Trying to not get my hopes up for one form of delivery over the other since I ultimately have no say - baby does!

We opted to take the newborn care class, the breastfeeding class and the infant CPR class.  Skipping the childbirth class for the same reason you said...although, it's offered as an online class too and I think about signing up for that occasionally.

We were opposite, we skipped breastfeeding and newborn care class but took the birthing class. I've been a nanny for years so I'm less concerned about newborn care, and I had heard the breastfeeding one isn't good so I didn't bother. I almost skipped birth class but I'm so glad we went. We obviously don't know what's going to happen birth wise, but I think it helped me and SO have a better understanding of what he does that's helpful vs not. Since then I've had lots of contractions and have been in the hospital, but he's way better at knowing what to do without me asking. So while I've already forgotten some of the breathing techniques and he may not remember the massage exactly, we work better as a team. If that makes sense. Not saying it's for everyone, but we are glad we took it.  Also he knows how to read a contraction monitor now which he is jazzed about

  • Week/Fruit: 32 weeks/ Squash? Doesn't look like any squash I've eaten.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Pressure, thirsty, can't sleep, restless legs, kicks, growth spurts...

    Upcoming Appointments: Friday

    Questions for the group: None

GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner? My comfort techniques are staying positive that both DH and I will be well into our mat/pat leave when I go into labor (lol), remembering there isn't a lot of planning I can do when it comes to my water breaking, and I think just having a hold of since we've done it before we can do it again.

  • Questions for the group: Any tips for relieving hip pain?
I've noticed when I have slight support with a pillow wedged under my belly while I lay on my side as well as laying slightly elevated it has helped with the pressure.

I've never had prior problems (not even with my first pg) but have with this pg. They've tried to put me on meds for it but I'm not comfortable with taking them. My pulse is anywhere from 111-114 with PVCs. We're thinking it will go away with birth. I've started breathing techniques to get them to quit.

  • Week/Fruit: 31/ Pineapple- although according to latest scans she's measuring at 33, so who knows what fruit she really is lol

Rants: please, please, please munchkin leave my ribs alone! Also, swelling sucks.
Raves: As much as she plays in my ribs, I love feeling her move and roll.
Symptoms: Swelling, insomnia, and hip pain. Random fatigue has hit and I'm not impressed.

Upcoming Appointments: Friday for 3 D/4D scan.

    Questions for the group: None.

GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner?

    No, although we probably should.

  •  @Aquinna82 My heart has raced a few times for no reason at all. Dr. said unless it increases I shouldn't be worried.

@sarawifenow  Ive been having MH either apply pressure I circular motions or roll a tennis ball on my hip. So far it's been helping enough for me to fall asleep.

  • Week/Fruit: 32 weeks/ Squash

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: All the symptoms, ever...to include: leg cramps, tiredness, peeing 30 times a day, can't sleep, swelling, pressure, kicking in all the wrong places, etc.

    Upcoming Appointments: 3/24

    Questions for the group: None

GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner? Negative. I figure if I haven't done anything by now to prepare, it probably won't be too helpful to try and cram it in at the last moment now.

  • Week/Fruit:  30/cantaloupe

Rants/Raves/Symptoms:  Mostly raves...I just love feeling her dancing around.  Of course, I'm tired and cranky and fed up with heartburn, insomnia, and random third-tri nausea.  But overall, I'm feeling pretty good.

Upcoming Appointments:  Regular OB appointment next Monday.

Questions for the group:  Regarding classes -- we're taking them all. :)  Childbirth class, Baby Basics class, and breastfeeding class.  It's not so much that I will remember everything (or anything) when the time comes, but I seriously feel like I don't know anything.

GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner?  Nah.  We hired a doula for that.  :)

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Am I bad person if I say that feeling his movements is a rant and a rave?

GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner? At our birth class they showed us some stretches, breathing techniques and massage. TBH, I didn't find it that helpful and doubt I'm going to be glad I did the class once the time comes. I'm actually starting to hope my water breaks so they admit me ASAP.

No, you're not. lol I keep waiting for it to start hurting, then I think I probably won't enjoy it as much.

We took a Lamaze/birthing class the last two Mondays. I think the breathing techniques are helpful. Most of the birthing positions we went over I already knew. The massage my husband learned how to do, though, will probably come in handy. I am with you though I'm not sure it was really all that helpful. I know a little more now than I did before, so I guess that's good.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I'm feeling pretty good, physically! I don't feel achy right now although that may change... Only rant is the full-bladder feeling. I feel like I am about to burst all the time. That and over the weekend I started getting these strange uncomfortable sensations in my cervix area (I think). I was sitting on a panel giving a talk and practically jumping out of my chair. Also: I traveled for work over the weekend and I'm back home and so happy to have that behind me. It was a big presentation and I spent many long hours preparing for it. I'm currently binge-watching Netflix on my couch as I write this!

Upcoming Appointments: Today at 3 p.m. in fact. Routine check up: Pee in a cup, weigh-in, heartbeat check.

Questions for the group: The more I read about perineal massage, the more I think it is the smart thing to do. But I don't know...I feel weird. Anyone doing it?

GTKY: Are you practicing any comfort techniques for labor at home with your partner? I want DH to do the perineal massage. Does that count? He hasn't yet because I haven't really pursued it, but I wonder if I should. I mean, it is supposed to help prevent tearing!
