TTC After a Loss

TGIF check-in!

What is everyone up to this weekend? What are you doing to take care of yourself/treat yourself well? Doing anything alone with DH to re-connect?

I have plans to meet up with some friends for lunch this weekend. I don't often get to see them, they are old work colleagues, so it will be nice to meet up and commiserate on our crazy jobs and lives. I also intend to get myself a massage. One of DH's co-workers left a card and a gift card to get a massage for me in his mailbox one day shortly after the miscarriage. He still doesn't know who, but the card just said for me to do something for myself and wishing me healing thoughts. I get kind of teary just thinking how kind people can be. I haven't had the courage to use it until now, so I'm hoping it will be a nice and relaxing opportunity to take care of myself.

Other than that DH and I will hopefully do some Netflix catching up after bedtime and enjoy that as our weekend date. Any new Netflix/Amazon Prime ideas out there? We are finishing up a series and needing something new!

Oh yeah and I'm also likely Oing today, so there is that whole baby making thing. Apparently my body decided to O 5 days sooner than it has the last few months since MC. Looks like while my body is still getting itself together it still likes to taunt me with me lack of control.

I hope you all do something good for yourselves this weekend, we deserve some fun, happiness, distraction, etc. during this process!

Re: TGIF check-in!

  • @BornReady I hope you enjoy your gift. Some people really have right idea on how to treat others. You deserve it. Have fun BDing!  :D No Netflix recommendations from me; eagerly awaiting someone something new myself.

Not a really fun weekend ahead: going to the dentist. Getting either a filling, or starting work on a crown on a broken and cracked molar. I have stress (and probably not stress related) bruxism and this has been a trying time for my molars.

Possibly entering my fertile window and doing SMEP, so lots of baby-making sex. Not really in the mood for that, finally had intercourse last night and it's been so long it kind of hurt. I'm going to pull out the Preseed, I guess. My cervical mucus is never that great. I'm a really sexual person, so this is all new and confusing. At least I get to use OPKs at a reasonable point in my cycle now - but I'm bsc and have been using them anyway.

Have to replant a bunch of seeds, as the cat knocked over and ruined a whole greenhouse full. At least it was the easy to germinate ones and not the herbs and peppers I've been giving all my love and attention.

Housekeeper comes today and I always clean for the her arrival, so I'm getting set for that. It's weird for me that we have one, since my mom is a housekeeper and it's a strange feeling to be a person who has one herself now. It's provided by my husband's work, so I guess that makes it a little less weird.

I'm going to read/listen to Leonard Cohen a lot this weekend; I'm in the mood. Maybe that'll get me in the mood to BD??

  • That's so sweet @bornready! What a lovely and thoughtful gift. I hope you enjoy your massage and visit with your friends.

@reneeannemm good luck with the BDing. Hopefully, you'll find your groove soon. And enjoy that housekeeper--jealous! I am sure I would feel compelled to clean for the housekeeper, haha.

Tomorrow is my son's birthday, so we are having a little party. So I am slightly stressed, but mostly looking forward to it.

Today though, my husband is off work and I am getting my haircut. I am really looking forward to it. My MIL is coming to town today, so I am hoping to squeeze in a date night, or even day date, with DH. Enjoy your weekends, ladies!
  • @BornReady, DH and I have been watching through House M.D. on Netflix. We had each seen bits and pieces when it was originally on tv but it's been fun going back through it! It can be gross/graphic and there are a few episodes that deal with babies, so read the episode info first if you decide to watch it.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. DH has been insanely busy at work and has spent far more time there than he has at home this week. We are going to visit his parents and my parents tomorrow. Where we live, there are pretty much zero fun places to shop, but where our parents live (where we grew up!) there are ALL THE STORES. Maybe I'll bat my eyelashes and talk DH in to a hobby lobby trip. I can never have enough yarn.  ;)

As far as taking care of myself, I deleted my fb app yesterday. I'm in a fb group from DD's BMB and there was one more BFP announcement yesterday and that pushed me over the edge. Between pregnancy announcements and the general negativity of my newsfeed and politics (gag) I just needed out. I haven't deactivated and probably won't but I'm thankful for a break.

  • @BornReady @reneeannemm have fun with the BD!

I'm on call these next four days. I do urgent care on the freight ships that come in from the Pacific to Washington/Oregon, which basically means sitting around the house and waiting for the phone to ring. But big plans for a Sex and the City marathon on Amazon Prime! DH will get lost in building something in the garage, I'm sure :-)

  • Ugh! I had a while response typed out but for some reason my app only posted my first paragraph!

@beff12 I am so close to deleting my fb. My cousin's gf got pregnant (on accident of course) one month ahead of me. They live in FL so I don't have to physically see her but her fb posts are so depressing! I just keep thinking that would be me in a month...blah, blah.

We we will be soending some time with family this weekend. My inlaws got a new puppy and I can't wait to hug and squeeze him! He's so precious!

Im also just waiting on my first af since my m/c. It's been exactly 4 weeks but I don't even feel like it's close to coming. I'm just eager to start TTC again. I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing weekend and that we are all able to forget our worries if even for a few minutes! Since I'm benched TTC I will be enjoying a margarita or two I think!

  • @reneeannemm I always clean for the lady who comes to our house too. While I felt weird about it at first, now I think it's money well spent. My husband grew up the youngest of 6 until he was 10 and got 1 more sibling and his childhood home was always chaotic, disorganized and messy. He hates clutter and messiness and having someone who comes and does a deep clean / makes everything look nice has really helped him stress less about life in a house with other people like you know me, our child, our dog etc. The house always smells better after she comes too, no matter how hard I clean it always looks better when she does it. We love her basically.

@amberruka I'm so intrigued by your job! You must have some interesting stories!

@moofish2364 Enjoy the puppy snuggles, I love interacting with any creatures who are new to this world. Always a good reminder for me how amazing everything can be if we look hard enough.

@beff12  Good for you for the Facebook app delete. I feel my most sane when I am living in my own world, not seeing too much of other's through social media. Enjoy your weekend!

  • Oh, any hip hop fans here? Not a new Netflix show, but a couple of producers did a effing brilliant tribute (here) to Notorious B.I.G. and it is an emotional riiiiiide, let me tell you.

    Forgive the ramble...
This weekend the plan is to make a baby. Turned an opk positive this morning. Odd thing happened though, in the past I was able to have 2 very positive tests consecutively (one each day), both lines would be exact same darkness. Yesterday evening I had an almost positive, this am got a very clear positive, then tested at lunch and it's looking like my line is fading. I'm sure it's because I caught the tail end this am, but still has me slightly disappointed. I keep reminding myself that ovulation happens 12-36 hours after the LH surge. And I dont even know why it's disappointing. Oh emotions!

Anyway, today was a stressful morning at work. Almost cried at work level stress(I'm not a stress cry person, so that says something). I'm trying not to let it get to me, stress isn't too conducive to baby making! I wish I would have wine tonight but I don't usually drink during my FW or TWW. Guess I'll journal and maybe have a nice bath and Netflix? Tomorrow we are entered into a fishing derby, so that will be a nice distraction.

@BornReady looks like we will be TWWing together. Sounds like you're weekend will be lots of fun, enjoy the catching up with friends and the massage.

@reneeannemm sorry to hear that you have a dentist appointment, they are my very least favourite appointments to go to. I hope that BDing gets a little better for you.

@silentP hope you get some alone time with DH. Haircuts are always so exciting, I feel like a new woman when I get mine done (likely because I'm the worst client and only go in when I can no longer stand my hair haha)

@beff12 there is zero shopping where I am as well, enjoy all the awesome stores!

@amberruka you're job sounds pretty interesting. Enjoy the Sex and the City marathoning

@MooFish2364 oh so jealous of puppy snuggles!! Enjoy puppy snuggles and margaritas!

  • @BornReady a caring co worker who gets it, hallelujah! Enjoy your lunch and especially that massage! Hopefully it will help make for some super relaxing BD'ing.

@reneeannemm good luck with SMEP. I plan to do that next week and have similar qualms. We've only BD'd twice since my loss. Besides being slightly painful, it was just so hard to get in the mood because it was triggering my sadness, and it's definitely an unnatural feeling for me to be hung up on sex all of a sudden. Totally unwelcome emotions and fears sneaking in when I'd rather be able to focus on the act and mine and DF's pleasure. I'm hopeful that the whole 'being in the moment' thing will get easier again with time (I keep telling myself it just has to). And bummer about the sprouts! At least it was early on but cats can be such jerks sometimes. I constantly tell mine how lucky they are that they're cuter than they are destructive (but only by a little).

@silentP I hope your party goes off without a hitch. Have a great time on your date!

@beff12 have fun shopping! So nice that you and DH are getting some alone time. And I hope the Facebook separation helps you feel a bit freer, it definitely did for me.

@amberruka as PP's have said your job sounds really interesting! Enjoy your SITC binge!

@MooFish2364 new puppy snuggling, I'm so jealous! And I haven't had a Margarita in a while. Cheers!

@roper2617 sorry things are so stressful right now. A fishing derby sounds like a very interesting distraction! Is that a race to catch the most? Have fun!

So DF and I haven't actually had a whole relaxed 'just for the fun of it' day since before winter started, I think. I'm pushing him for a big Sunday breakfast, followed by a long afternoon hike and then maybe dinner out on Sunday... Saturday I'm sure there's a house project that I'll find to do and I'll tell myself it's to earn that lazy Sunday. Ugh! And grocery shopping. I hate when I leave that to the weekend

I've actually got nothing on the Netflix tip this week. Still finishing up a couple of series I had started previously, but nothing new.
  • @cooaladoll The person that catches the biggest fish wins the grand prize, which is half the pot (around $700 I think) and then there's prizes for second place and such. Should be a fun time, plus I'll have fresh fish for dinner. Your Sunday sounds pretty enviable. Big Sunday breakfasts are my favourite

  • Nothing too crazy for us this weekend...just got over the flu and am finally feeling better, so hopefully it'll stay that way so we can get out of the house tomorrow.  We are going to brunch with a group of friends tomorrow at Punch Bowl Social (not sure if there's one around any of you, but they have great food, fun cocktails & old school games).

@BornReady if you have Hulu, there is a good show with James Franco that we just started called 11.22.63 -- it's about JFK's assassination.  HOC is back on Netflix too, otherwise, no suggestions really.  We did a lot of binge/marathon watching post-loss and now we're itching for a new show too.  And that was so thoughtful of one of your DH's co-workers.  It is nice to be reminded of how kind and thoughtful people can be.

  • DH only got 3 hours of sleep last night - so although I really felt the need to BD (I think I'm going to ovulate tomorrow - or I'm ovulating today) we're skipping it. We're good at EOD though (so if I ovulate we've got -1 and -3 and likely +1) so we should be fine... He's not up for a SMEP or similar right now - though I did get him to agree that we'd go for less spontaneous/fun BD if in a few months I'm still not pregnant. We'll BD tomorrow and Sunday - so hopefully I ovulate Sunday - then we're golden on timing.

No big plans this weekend - I apparently have committed myself to talking about girls in STEM fields with BIL's GF so we'll see how that goes. She's lovely but she seems like to make herself upset - she isn't comfortable in her comfortable bed if she's comfortable... But I've got connections to STEM people and experience in academia - once I know more about the project she's working on I might try to get in on it as an unpaid consultant/volunteer. Would look great on my CV and it is something that I believe in.

So like other weekends, BD - knitting - grocery shopping late on Saturday night (to avoid crowds). Oh and listening to a new audiobook (Calamity by Brandon Sanderson). In a moment I'll be catching up on the Muppet Show - not sure how I feel about it yet.

This weekend is already half over for me. Tonight we're walking in to Mui Ne to spend some of the million or so Vietnamese dong we have left (about $50). My brother wants a bottle of booze with a scorpion inside. I want to get some weird candy to share with people at work, and maybe some cheap pearls because they're everywhere. Tomorrow DH wants to rent a jet ski. I will not be joining him. I'm scared of water where I can't see the bottom. I got a pretty bad sun burn so I'm trying to stay away from the pool and beach except if I'm under an umbrella. No other plans for tomorrow besides enjoying our last day here. On Monday we head back. I'm going to try to watch the entire Star Wars series :)

  • @catiecatp BUmmer about DH being so tired. It's always been hard for me in the past when I know the time is right, but DH hasn't been on board. It takes a lot for me to be sympathetic. You are a good partner! @Aera11 Thanks for the recommendation! We actually watched 2 episodes last night of 11.22.63, so suspenseful and creepy. Also so funny to see James Franco in a different kind of role for him. @zrain Enjoy your final days of vacation! @jenmlangtake2 Good luck with testing, keep us posted!
  • @catiecatp we get up early on Sunday mornings and go to the grocery store for that same reason! It's actually something I look forward to :-)

@zrain I'm a physician assistant. I usually go to Kalama/Longview, occasionally Portland or Astoria. The guys are awesome and generally self sufficient, I think my best stories actually involve me getting *onto* the ships at times. A few weeks ago I had to climb up scaffolding then onto a severely pitched (like 70 degrees) hanging ladder over ~90 feet of water, throw my bags over, and take a faith leap onto it. Without anyone watching. Oi! Other weekends I go to group military events to do pre/post deployment health assessments--another job with amazing people I'm blessed to have (and travel to-I love traveling!). 3.5 days during the week I work at regular ol' primary care clinic.

  • @catiecatp Of course you were....You still had good timing though! The two times I"ve been pregnant my timing was never that great and it only takes one, right?  I agree O looks like yesterday and FF will adjust your coverline and O date with two more temps. Glad that your body seems to be coming around. I am noticing the adjustment with each cycle, this being cycle 5 and I'm ovulating in my normal time and with more lined up CM etc.
  • The dentist was an absolute angel. I have two broken molars from grinding and she didn't try to pick at them (or whatever the flip dentists are trying to do with sensitive bits). She didn't hurt me once; the most sensitive touch imaginable. We have a very quick treatment plan and I'll finally be getting the mouth guard I need to stop grinding my teeth into nothing!

  • Yesterday was DH's birthday (and our 5 year anniversary of our first date) so his family took us out to dinner. His sister and BF came into town. It was nice seeing them. Today has been a productive day. We are finishing our basement and our Saturdays for the past month have been consumed by that. Today however, DH's friend was in town so we only worked in the morning and had lunch with him. Then I cleaned the house a bit (vacuumed the stairs yuck!) and did a bit of yard work since it was nice. We even took our fur babies for a walk.
Tomorrow DH's mom is making crapes for brunch. I hope to continue my productivity and get some more accomplished around the house. Then I think DH and I are going out to dinner alone to celebrate his birthday.

DH got a cold at the end of our vacation, which he decided to share with me.  So I’m spending the weekend trying to get over that.  I also got a BFN yesterday morning and AF today, so this weird cycle is over and I’m taking it easy this weekend.

Good luck to everyone O’ing this weekend.  Enjoy the BD.

  • @reneeannemm - glad you're getting a grind guard - I use mine every night and I've got dents in it that look crazy (oh, and I cracked the first one). The first few nights I had a grind guard I found it under the bed in the morning... apparently I took it out and tossed it because it felt weird? Now if I don't wear it at night (or for long naps) I wake up with a really sore jaw.

@dpjennifer it was tons of fun! But I didn't win. The winning fish was a 21 inch long lake trout and my biggest was 16 inches. I caught the biggest between DH and I though, so there's that lol. The fish made for a pretty amazing dinner. It was likely our last day of ice fishing and it was a good one!

@catiecatp sorry for DH being tired, you sound so much more empathetic than I am though. Poor DH has been ill in the past and I definitely didn't let him get the rest he should've (and we didn't even conceive that cycle! Ooooops). Timing does sound good for you regardless though!

@Aera11 food, fun, cocktails and old school games? Sounds like a blast!

Edited because seriously why do I have such an issue with autocorrect?!
