Re: Weekend Ticker Change 3/12 & 3/13

  • Week/Fruit: 29 weeks and some fruit/veg that I don't know

Raves: Only two months left! Time is getting closer and I'm so excited.
    Symptoms: Heartburn, cankles.

Upcoming Appointments: Monday!! Excited to see baby boy!

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in?
Nope - not a big lover of photos.

Questions for group: Anyone have a list of non-baby related stuff to do before baby comes?

Week/Fruit: 32 weeks, says squash, feels like a mini rollercoaster!

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: rant: usual, people and their unwelcome opinions
raves: pleased to get to the looking pregnant stage, the top half gave a good chase but the bump has finally overtaken!
Symptoms: swelling, get beached on sofa sometimes! fatigue (wish nesting would kick in now...)

Upcoming Appointments: week after next ... Just standard

Questions for the group: are you ALL really organised with your nurseries? I feel so far behind!! Anyone like me planning to start next week when I will be 33 weeks...?!

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in? Umm I think they have someone who does in the hospital. Really want video of baby and family. Have couple outfits but haven't seen the 1 just yet!

  • Week/Fruit: 32 weeks / squash

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: All quiet on the midwestern front.  Baby's kicking a little harder than usual and I'm getting slightly more painful twinges when I move, and the heartburn has kept me sleeping on the couch a couple nights now so I can sleep sitting up, but I feel great (aside from needing more naps than I'd like during the day). BUT OMG 8 weeks!!! Two months!  I am kind of not believing how close it is...  Other thing I can't believe? How big my belly is.  I keep catching glimpses of myself in the mirror and freaking out.

Upcoming Appointments: Monday after next.  I saw my OB yesterday and everything looks good! And I found out good news: even though I'm allergic to all the antibiotics that baby gets (like the erithromyacin eye ointment) it's still perfectly safe for baby to have--apparently his immune system won't be strong enough to have an allergic reaction before the bacteria are gone.

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? Apart from the ones we take on our phones, I don't think so!

Questions for group: Anyone else not have any pics of you with Bump? It just occurred to me that I literally haven't had a pic taken of me since getting pregnant (mostly because we're pretty boring and don't do photo-worthy things).  I might have to start taking selfies to document this thing...

@charissadeats: Anyone have a list of non-baby related stuff to do before baby comes?
OMG SO MANY THINGS!!!! Mostly work deadlines: I've got a book chapter that needs to be finished before April 15, two journal articles that need to be revised by May 1, and a book proposal to submit before baby comes. (I/m increasingly skeptical about that last one actually happening). On top of teaching and grading. Also, taxes:)  And weddings and showers and a househunting trip... Yikes. And that's just the stuff that's *not* related to baby. I actually think I'm more terrified about the non-baby to-do list than I am about the baby one!
  • @dshannah Sounds rough! Are you a writer of some kind?
  • Week/Fruit: 28 /eggplant

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: 3rd trimester with twins. Everything is uncomfortable now. This can only get more fun right? Still, just making it this far with twins is a milestone I'm happy I made! Keep cookin, little ladies!

Upcoming Appointments: GD test on Thursday. Had perinatologist last week, everything looks good, both babies are head down, still no signs of twin to twin transfusion syndrome! Will be seeing my OB every 2 weeks now.

Questions for the group: for those of you who are having for reals contractions, what do they feel like and how will I know them from BH?

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in? Haven't planned this far ahead. We'll definitely do them, but won't be able to plan an outfit until we know how teeny our twins will be. It will likely be a last minute purchase, probably something Royals or world series related.
  • Week/Fruit: 29/acorn squash

Rants / Raves / Symptoms:  Up way earlier than I am on any given day and neither Harper or my stomach are happy with the schedule change today...it may also be due to having some sort of stomach virus over the past few days too, but I'm feeling a lot better from that.  I have to say, I give all you ladies who suffered through morning sickness and vomiting TONS of props.  After throwing up numerous times the other night, I was completely worthless the next day and having a squirming alien in your gut just intensifies the sickness.  I bow down to you ladies for powering through it, because I'm not sure I could have.

Upcoming Appointments:  Tuesday the 22nd...I start every two weeks.

    Questions for the group:  None

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in?

Yes, we are. I don't think we're doing outfits so much as "props".  My sister is crotcheting me a surprise for the baby, so we will of course use that for photos (my guess is a little crown and diaper cover).  Other than that, we'll probably do headbands or something.  My photographer has a lotnof props and hats, so I'll probably just borrow from her stash too if there's something I totally love.
  • Weeks/fruit: 32, squash

Rants/raves: sleeping is almost impossible, leg cramps, hip pain. Back pain when I drive. Tons of braxton hicks still. But she is so active and I love watching my stomach move into a million different shapes.

Upcoming appts: I had one Wed after 6 weeks. Got to see her real quick. I'm still measuring 3 weeks ahead so I have a growth ultrasound on the 17th. I have the rest of my appts booked. I have 3 in April and that's it. I might not make the last one because I might have my repeat c section that week. Eek! 6-7 weeks left.

GTKY: newborn photos? Yes, we're doing them. My mom does photography on the side. She's done several newborn shoots so I'm excited she'll be doing my LO. I saw this cute pic on pinterest of a little baby in a dit bike helmet (we're a dirt bike family) but I don't know how we'd stick her in there. Looks too difficult. No other outfit ideas. Just headbands and wraps really.
  • Week/Fruit:  29 weeks!!  acorn squash - this baby is putting on weight!!

Rants / Raves / Symptoms:  Rant: As you know, I contract pretty much all day, every day.  I'm anxious that I won't know which contractions are harmless and which ones are putting me in real labor.  I've been to triage twice so far (not since Feb 26th), but I've been closed each time.  Of course that was great news, but I still get anxious, and I read to much into other symptoms. For example, Weds and Thurs my back ached a bit.  I jumped to the conclusion that I was in labor, rather than just feeling a 3rd trimester back ache.  I refrained from calling my OB this time, and today I'm fine.  I don't know if I'm ranting over the contractions or the anxiety - probably both.

Upcoming Appointments: Weds March 23rd, routine OB appt.  We hope to schedule our c-s that day!

Questions for the group: What are you doing to let others take care of you?  I need to know that I'm not the only one not fully "pulling my weight"!

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in? A friend of my SIL took pictures for us in the Fall, so we plan to use her again.  She is building her portfolio, so it won't cost us a lot.  DH and FIL also take lovely pics, so we should be covered!  We may take a few naked and with a white onesie- I'm not in love with naked baby pics.  We are Team Green, so I don't know what other outfit we will use.  Last time we did the in-hospital photo shoot with the Bella Baby folks, and the pics out generic, but pretty cute.

    Mama to Three Girls:
Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor
    and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!

  • Questions for the group: What are you doing to let others take care of you?  I need to know that I'm not the only one not fully "pulling my weight"
Not enough! I'm still being stubborn about my own independence, probably past the point I should, to be honest. I let people bring me food though :expressionless:
  • khochanadel I personally don't know the difference between contractions, braxton-hicks, and uterine irritability.  I call them all contractions because they feel the same this pregnancy as they did last pregnancy when I was actually in preterm labor.  This isn't to scare you, just to let you know that I can't tell the difference.  Maybe other people can.  I get worried and call my OB when the contractions don't slow down with rest or are coming regularly at 6+ per hour.  Or are accompanied by other symptoms like cramping.

Are you contracting a lot?  When is your OB's cut-off to call?  With twins, I would be sure to have a low threshhold for going into triage and getting checked out. Much better to get sent home!

  • Questions for the group: for those of you who are having for reals contractions, what do they feel like and how will I know them from BH?
FTM here, so I have no experience of my own to offer. But I recently asked my SIL the same question, and this is what she told me (though from reading various posts/threads on this board, I suspect it might be one of those things that slightly differ for everyone): BHs will usually be in one specific area, and you will be able to feel your uterus tighten in that one spot. They'll also be more sporadic. Real contractions, on the other hand, will involve your entire uterus and will come regularly. Also, BHs can sometimes be made to go away by changing position/drinking water/etc. Real contractions won't.

I don't know if you're actually having BHs right now, but for me, they are usually just to the left of my belly button, and it feels like not only that specific area is tightening, but like someone is reaching into my chest and crushing my windpipe. They don't hurt so much as take my breath away right now, but they definitely have me terrified for the real thing.

I felt the chest tightening bit long before I ever felt the contractions in my uterus. I thought I was having panic attacks the whole time!

  • Week/Fruit: 30/cucumber

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: I've started to have extremely vivid dreams. Last night I dreamt I was directing a production of Romeo and Juliet.

Upcoming Appointments: A routine appointment at the end of March. We also have an appointment to tour the maternity ward coming up!

Questions for the group: Have you had a vivid, crazy dream recently you'd like to share?

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in? We are! The mother of our flower girls in our wedding has a photography business and will be doing our session. DH and I picked up this outfit last night, and I think it will be perfect.

  • Week/Fruit: 31... I think it's a pineapple this week.

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: Heartburn is back. Swelling in the hands and feet by the end of the day... Rings have officially come off bc they were starting to cut into my finger. If I walk a lot I also feel it more in the hips. I feel like I have more energy if I walk, but my body is objecting. Despite all that, I passed my 3 hour glucose and baby is moving like crazy so things could be worse. :)

Upcoming Appointments: 3/14 for regular appt, then every 2 weeks till 36, then once weekly till she gets here.

    Questions for the group:

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in?
Yup. We picked someone a few weeks ago to do a lifestyle type shoot, so about a week after she's born someone will come to the house for pictures. We aren't a huge fan of the posed stuff and we wanted pictures so this seemed like a better option for us. Haven't picked any outfits... I'm sure it will be something cute that I just pick out that day.
  • Week/Fruit: 32/Squash/Pomelo/Jicama

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: I'm a little annoyed. A couple we know is having their baby shower this weekend. Ours is next weekend. We sent them a gift as soon as we found out we couldn't make it, I asked her for her address and everything. Flash forward: she hasn't even mentioned anything about returning the favor to us or asked for our address. How. Tacky. They're a gift-grabby couple too. They asked their host to host this shower for them. It wasn't offered. Ugh. I'm kind of regretting spending that $40 on them. Not to mention, she's having a second shower the same weekend as mine so she "can't make it".

Upcoming Appointments: 3/18 for regular tummy and Doppler check.

Questions for the group: My doctors haven't mentioned anything about a growth scan. Should I bring it up at my next appointment? The last medical ultrasound I had was at 18 weeks. We've had 2 3Ds done since then so we know our boy is doing fine but I'm just wondering :)

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in?

Yes! 9 days after my due date.

  • Week/Fruit: 31 weeks

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: I have been on my feet all freaking day and I want to cry! It's amazing how badly my feet got swollen. But I'm in a nesting mode today and doubt I'll be sitting too much longer after this bump break!

Upcoming Appointments:  This Wednesday for normal check in. Hopefully I didn't gain too much again so I don't get yelled up!!

    Questions for the group:

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in? No newborn pics but we are doing family pics in June or July. I bought this for Harper and hope it fits! It's a size 0/3 so I think it might be too small.

  • @tgortney, I asked my dr about growth scans last week. See pretty much said that as long as you are not considered high risk, they don't do then at my practice. Obviously every practice differs but if you are not being offered them I wouldn't worry too much.

Omg sister... we moved into our new house today and I feel like I've walked about 19 miles. Doggies are Barkin for sure!
  • @dshannah Sounds rough! Are you a writer of some kind?
I'm a professor! So, yes? The job requirements are teaching, publishing, and service (doing administrative things for the good of the university), but for me the most difficult is the publishing (because for the other stuff you have students and colleagues constantly asking for/needing things, but with the publishing you've just usually got one faraway due date).
  • Week: 31/pineapple

    Next appt: March 21

RRS: I don't recall such tenderness but the movements are also so much stronger. Heartburn still blows. As does tying my shoes.

Questions: I have been waking up every 1-3 hours to pee at night, but the last few nights I've been real nauseous. I'm thinking it is acid related but I was wondering if hormones could still be an issue?!? Ugh.

GTKY: no pics planned but not
sure yet. @yogahh I love that outfit!!

I've had this too... I've also had a big increase in heartburn lately so I'm just assuming it has to do with that. It tends to subside a little bit based on how I'm laying down so it would make sense.
  • Week/Fruit: 30/Head of Cabbage or Cucumber

Rants / Raves / Symptoms: Lots of different movements...I can recognize hiccups now!  I've had back pains since about 8 weeks, but they seem to be getting BETTER...no complaints there!

Upcoming Appointments: Today with the diabetic counselor and regular 30 week appointment (and hopefully an US).  This is my first of my every-2-weeks appointments.

    Questions for the group:

GTKY: Are you doing newborn photos? If so, any plans for the outfits you'll have LO in?

My DH loves to hunt, so I thought this would be cute.  Not sure what other outfits we'll do yet.
