hcg today

My HCG today was 331. Last Tuesday it was 399 (over a week ago). Before that it had been almost halving each week. My d&c was over 5 weeks ago. Ugh.

Ugh. I'm so sorry. I haven't even thought that far in advance yet. I keep taking pregnancy tests to see if they will give me some sort of magic 8 ball answer on when I will miscarry (ha!) And so far nada.

Did your dr say anything about why it is taking so long to go down?

Ugh that makes me nervous, my levels were still really high when I miscarried (125,000 at 9w2d when baby only measured 7w4d). Hcg must of kept rising which is why it was missed. Dr said it could take a month to come down but who knows...hope they are down by next follow up April 4th, I will take a pregnancy test before then and see if they will recheck levels. So sorry @BrightenMySky, I know we all just want it to be over so we can move on.

I had retained material after my d&c and used cytotec a few days later, but a scan about a week later still showed retained material. My body just cannot give up this baby. I am being monitored by my RE and will go in next week for u/s in addition to the usual beta, although DH is going to call to talk to the RE to see what might be going on and if it would make sense for me to come in soon. My RE was not too concerned when I had the last u/s and said it might come out when I get my period, or if not, he will do a saline u/s and then maybe a hysteroscopy if needed.

@BrightenMySky I'm sorry- that is so frustrating. I was wondering, your RE had mentioned the retained material could come out with your next period. If your HCG continues to be high, technically wouldn't you not get a period/ or would the period be delayed? I guess the question is do your levels have to be back down to zero to get a period? Either way, I hope this is resolved for you sooner rather than later so you can continue on with your treatments.

@roxgibbons it does seem sort of like a catch 22 to me. I trust my RE, though, so I am just going to keep doing what he suggests, although I may try to go in before next Wednesday just to have an answer a little sooner, and so I can plan if he says it's time for a hysteroscopy, or maybe the saline u/s that could help things move along.

ETA: I just emailed to see if I can come in earlier. I also asked if I should continue to do acupuncture to try to move things along or if I should hold off...there is a deeply irrational part of my mind, or maybe my heart, that wants to hold onto the hope that this could be good news.

Ugh. Not looking forward to facing the world today. Have a crapton of work to get through but maybe will come home early if things don't improve with distraction.

My husband said the same thing that you said above, the baby didn't want to leave. My body didn't want to give him up. It's rough on a super philosophical level.

@ThePax89 you also had testing that showed a chromosomal issue, right? I feel like my body was just so ready for and so wanting this baby, and the fact that the baby died is just not something I can physically handle, nevermind emotionally. I am supposed to go in Wed for my next bloodwork and will have an u/s then, I am going to see if I can go in earlier. I think I'll likely have a saline ultrasound (to visualize and maybe dislodge), and then possibly a hysteroscopy. This morning I have been mentally preparing for another surgery.

I understand about not wanting to face the world. I am right there with you. I am swamped at work and very overwhelmed right now. I feel like hiding out under the covers and just being alone. Probably not the best thing for me but that's how I feel. Gearing up for another procedure is difficult so I get preparing yourself and getting mentally ready. I have both of mine scheduled in April and although I know that they will probably help the cause, it's just a lot wrap your head around. I hope you hear back from your RE's office soon.

I think it's wise to go in sooner if that's what you need. Are you still bleeding?

No, not bleeding. I've had some very minor spotting, but haven't really bled enough to require a pad since...my LMP in November? I hardly had any bleeding after the d&c, and then with the cytotec it was mostly while I was in the bathroom.

Oh and I am going to see my RE tomorrow. Hopefully that will give me more info and allow me to relax a bit over the weekend.

No more retained tissue! RE says my hcg is just slow to drop, and it's possible to ovulate with some hcg in system, so I may be getting back on track based on how things looked. Waiting for bw results.
