Hi all, I need some advice
3 months ago I bought plane tickets & event tickets for wine tasting in Napa Valley this weekend for my friend's bachelorette party. I didn't think I'd get a BFP this soon (I just switched over from the TTGP board after testing positive on Friday). I also thought that if I *did* get pregnant before the trip, I'd still go, it'd be fine, and I'd just wing it..
However, the more I'm thinking about it, the more I am dreading it... This whole trip is centered around wine tasting, I don't really know anyone going, except for the bride-to-be of course, and the house we're renting has a hot tub which also sounds like we'll be hanging out in a lot (which I also won't be able to enjoy).
I'll be starting my 6th week of being pg on Sunday and I'm scared to death that I'll start getting morning sickness soon and that would also be the worst thing, being away from home, away from DH, sick with a bunch of drunk girls.
I know deep down I'll still be going because a) to support my friend b) I already spent $600+ on this weekend, I'm going to take advantage of that lol. I just don't know what excuse to give for not drinking. I'm going to be the only girl not drinking, everyone will be wondering why/think I'm weird because no way in hell am I telling the truth. Are there options for non-drinkers who go wine tasting? I've never had to ask this question before.
What would you do? What would you say or what excuse would you give? Any input/support/sympathy is appreciated!
Re: Bachelorette weekend - wine tasting
Are you a big wine drinker? You shouldn't have to tell if you don't want but this definitely a tough situation. Maybe say your not feeling well and taking some meds? Sorry not much help but I hope you find a solution and are able to enjoy it.
As for nausea, I'm 7+3 and haven't had it too bad. Just some queasiness if it's been too long since I've eaten. I would make sure you have some snacks on you, throw some crackers or a granola bar or something in your purse just in case. Not everyone gets it and most that do have said it's worse when you don't eat.
You should definitely go and enjoy getting out of town. It won't be the same but I think you can get around telling people, especially because you don't know them all that well.

I would tell them but I'd also tell them it's very early and it's important the news stays within the group until you feel comfortable telling friends and family you are expecting.
spare yourself the awkwardness of a lie and just be honest
