So apparently it's twins?!

My FMD called this morning to go over the results of my viability ultrasound yesterday. Sounds like, if these babies stick, I might be having identical twins (mono/di)! DH and I are in shock, and still very nervous.

My ultrasound did show a placental bleed, which is where my bleeding stems from and likely explains the episode of severe pain that preceded it, so we're repeating betas tomorrow, another ultrasound next week and taking it easy until then. I'm still bleeding a bit this morning, but no clots or tissue yet so hopefully everything resolves over the next little while and doesn't worsen and cause the placenta to tear away completely.

Just picked up a copy of the report from my doc. There is a large subchorionic bleed (3.8x2.1x3cm) next to Twin B, and cysts on both of my ovaries(which explains the pinchy pains I've been getting); no fetal pole in either sac, but yolk sacs in each measuring 3mm. Definitely diamnniotic, too early to tell if they're dichorionic but the report leans that way because of the bilateral cysts. I go for a repeat in six days, so I'm calling out sick from work until after the repeat to be safe.

New research shows that bed rest doesn't actually help, but I'm on pelvic rest and going with a very cautious approach!

@16isourluckynumber my first betas were normal: 30 at 10dpo, 147 at 12dpo. Yesterday's were 27334 though, which is high for 5w5d from what I understand.

ETA: for comparison, at 6w6d last pregnancy, my betas were like 2007 or something (however that was an imminent loss so not the best comparison).

@kns1988 when's your first appt? My levels have been high, too. At 5w5d I was 37,000, then 6w1d I was at 60,000. I'm trying not to get too caught on the thought of twins, but for some reason I keep thinking maybe...

@UTAmbs11 - two strong heartbeats on two little babies! SCH is still there, waiting on the official report to see what it's doing, and going to chat with my MD tomorrow to plan how to proceed (whether or not I need to remain on modified rest). There's a pic of each one in the ultrasound thread

@UTAmbs11, I had an ultrasound on Monday and there's 1 baby in there! My levels were 29,175 at 5 weeks, which is pretty high, but I guess it doesn't always indicate twins. I'd have been happy with twins, but I'm thrilled with 1 healthy baby, too.
