Skin care

Anyone have any recommendations for preggo safe skincare that's worth the money?
My skin is usually oily, but each pregnancy it dries up around this time. This time I have clogged pores (that won't exfoliate out!) and now it's so dry I have flakes. Bah! Let's blame it on being over 35, because that's the excuse for everything this time.
Any lines you all have tried that work?

Re: Skin care

  • My skin has also been quite dry so I've been using an exfoliating scrub (I just use St. Ives apricot scrub) every other night, and then Jose Maran argan oil to moisturize after exfoliating. In the morning I just splash cold water on my face and then use Glossier moisturizer which I love, it's not too heavy but moisturizes well. On the days in between exfoliating I use glossier's milky jelly cleanser. Not one line in particular but this has worked very well for me!

I use Mary Kay products that are safe for pg.

ETA: My skin went from combination to dry and the Mary Kay face wash I switched to has been awesome. I've also started using MK's tinted moisturizer which has made a big difference too.

  • I use the clairsonic brush and cetaphil bar soap for cleansing. I use Lush face lotion...fantastic stuff!

  • Dr Hauschka!!!! I love their stuff some whole foods have the products but I usually order on line -for dry skin I would start w/ the cleansing milk and cleansing cream for your blocked pores (read the instructions inside on the rolling technique and how to gently steam your face). And either the rose day cream or quince day cream. All the products are really great do check out the other stuff too but what I listed should get you started and is gentle & safe for pg.
  • back a couple months ago someone on here recommended Tea Tree Oil products, and I have never looked back since.
  • For the clogged pores and flakes I recommend Mary Kay's Timewise Microdermabrasion scrub. My skin looks and feels amazing after using it!! I just use Olay moisturizers, but I don't have intense dry skin (Florida humidity!) so I don't know that it would be what you need. I have used Clinique moisture surge when dealing with it in the past though, and that worked well.

Maybe you should hit up a Sephora and ask for several free samples (they are great) and/or a department store makeup counter for samples.

  • I have dry and sensitive skin and tried a LOT of products before I finally found something that works for me. It is a bit pricey but feels worth it to me. I use Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. The cleanser is gentle but you definitely get a deep clean. The face cream is thick enough to combat dryness but you don't need much and it dries quickly. I also love the way they smell. If I could only choose one of these products I would choose the cleanser, it is really amazing for dry/sensitive skin. Another face lotion I like for dry skin is Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer but it takes quite a while to soak in.
  • I've been using Murad and it works well.  I just use the cleanser and the moisturizer...there is a mask that seems to make me break out more for some reason.
  • I'm in love with clarins face oil for the night. I have oily skin and my skin looooves it. Feels like silk and doesn't make me oily at all. Every product I use is a different brand as I like to just use whatever works. My daytime moisturizer is Ole Henriksen. Hydrating but not heavy. It's taken me a long time to find something that doesn't leave me greasy at the end of the day...this is awesome. Both products are pricey but last a long time! I also use an Ole Henriksen walnut scrub maybe once every 2 weeks
  • Thanks everyone!
