Zipadee zip

My DS will be 3 months old next week. We have been using Halo swaddles for nap and bedtime. Last night he started flipping himself from back to stomach and because he was swaddled he wasn't able to turn back over. Luckily we were watching him from the monitor so we went in and flipped him back yet he still continued to flip over. Now for his nap this morning I swaddled him with his arms out of the halo but because he's so young he still has his startle reflex which woke him. He also flipped to his stomach but I'm not sure he knows to flip back over because he immediately began crying.

I was thinking maybe we needed to try the zipadee zip. Anyone else having this issue? How about those who have tried the zipadee zip, did you have any luck with it? Wondering if it's worth purchasing since its kinda pricy...

Re: Zipadee zip

  • I love the zipadee zip! My LO was arms out swaddled for a long time but I felt like she needed something more snuggly. Zipadee was the answer. She usually likes being zipped in and sleeps well while in it. It took a couple of nights for her to get used to, but then it was smooth sailing. We've since bought a second one and also a size medium for when she grows out of the small.

  • We use the zipadee to control startle reflex, cause LO doesn't like being swaddled so it's a good in between IMO. She isn't rolling so not sure about that...
  • Yeah I wasn't expecting him to be rolling this early!
  • My 3 month old rolled onto his tummy the other night while swaddled. The next night we used the SwaddleMe with one arm out and have continued to do it. He can't seem to roll over like that because his arm gets in the way so he just ends up on his side. His reflex still wakes him up so I ordered a zipadeezip today to try.
  • My 12wk old didn't like it...she fell asleep in it but woke screaming...the freedom of being able to get at her hands but not really drove her crazy and she couldn't relax. Back to the halo swaddle sacks and all was good again.

This is almost exactly what happened when j tried the zipadeezip on DD, except so wouldn't fall asleep. She just kept flailing her arms trying to get them to her face and got upset. I figured she wasn't ready for it and I'll try again next week. I put her back in her Ollie Swaddle and she fell right asleep. I really want to transition her out of the Swaddle soon though in case she starts rolling.
