Hi all, I am currently on holiday and have experienced light brown discharge over the last couple of days, I am not back in the UK until Friday and panicking. Has anyone else had this before?? Have had 2 miscarriages before so very scared.....
Most likely nothing to worry about, bright red blood and cramping can indicate something is wrong but even then lots of women spot during their first trimester some throughout their whole pregnancy. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do either way. Try to stay positive--- it can be totally normal.
from what i know, dark brown discharge isn't really anything to worry about. if i have bright red blood, blood clots, & cramping, that's another story.
@wifey2407 first I am so sorry for your loses and anxiety after is definitely understandable. I also had some spotting off and on during first tri. Do you have a nurses line you can call if the spotting has lasted more then a day? I was put on pelvic rest for 7 days after I finished spotting to help identify the cause and make sure everything was okay. If you do have cramps I'd go ahead and call right away.
Lots of things can cause spotting, especially as a pp mentioned that brown spotting is usually old blood so it also may be old blood and isn't fresh spotting too. Try to enjoy the rest of your Holiday
See a doctor to be sure and don't try for an "online" diagnosis. It could be something trivial or something that your doctor needs to monitor. Either way, after you visit your doctor, you will have more information. Many women do have bleeds during pregnancy that dissipate in the second trimester. However, nothing takes the place of a proper medical exam so your doctor can take a look. Try not to stress and take care of yourself and baby.
