Anyone else feeling like a blimp now? Just not feeling like a pretty pregnant woman..*sigh*

I know I'm only 28 weeks but man I feel like a blimp right now. My bump is super noticeable now and I just don't feel glowy or pretty at all. I haven't really felt pretty this whole pregnancy, just kind of miserable as far as my body goes. I just wanna vent blech...

  • Yes, I really popped at about 18-19 weeks, and of course everyone had to point it out. Then to top it off I went to yoga the other day and a girl that was only a week behind me was TINY and hardly had a bump, while I was feeling as big as the girls that were 10 weeks ahead of me. The struggle is real getting out of bed or out of a chair, and heaven forbid I sit on a low sitting couch. I look like a beached whale trying to rock and push my way up.

  • Yup.  I was pulling pictures off my phone and realized just how much my stomach has grown since getting pregnant.  I still feel like I just look fat, not pregnant and I absolutely hate it.
  • Every comments, "oh you look so cute!" I'm like thinking, "who me?" I mean It's different if you don't feel cute lol

  • Yeah, I feel gigantic and gross. But I guess I'm glad to be getting to the point where I look pregnant and not just like I'm getting super fat?
  • I'm actually enjoying my big tummy.  It does get in the way, but for the first time, it's okay for my stomach to stick out and I don't feel like I need to hide it or super self conscious of it.
  • I've never felt like I look cute pregnant. I feel like the other people I know with a small frame like me have these super cute little  bumps, and at 26 weeks I just look like I'm going to tip over forward.

  • I definitely feel more whale-like than pregnant. I am 28 weeks and I think I just look extra bloated and fat. I actually get jealous/enraged when I see a "cute" pregnant lady especially she is less pregnant than I. Sometimes I can't even look at the HDBD posts because it depresses me. I think my H is getting sick of me asking if I look pregnant.. poor guy... he knows it's a trap ; ). However, I have to keep in perspective that I am one lucky lady to have to privilege of carrying a baby and I am soooo excited to have him here in-person, pregnancy is just a means to an end : )
  • Add me to this. And people saying "Wow you have gotten huge!" and the likes doesn't help how crappy I feel.

  • Hahahaaa omg. I'm in this boat with you ladies!!

I'm actually trying to wear makeup now. I feel I need it. Paint on some cheekbones :)

And people keep giving me food. I have no willpower people. I will eat all of the candy!!

  • Cosigning. I was already heavy, so I just feel extra fat now. People who don't know me wouldn't assume I'm pregnant because although my belly is big, but I could just be fat and carry my weight that way. I've been trying to dress better and put more effort into my appearance to compensate, but, on the whole, I feel and look terrible. Everyone at my prenatal yoga class has a cute bump and  tons of energy while I'm decisively NOT cute and huffing and puffing all the time.
  • Ya I feel fat and flabby and gross. I was much cuter with my first baby haha but what can you do! When you get sad think of your cute little baby you'll be holding in just a few short months!
  • Oh man. I've never felt pretty or cute or feminine or any of that crap pregnant. Blech.
  • Yep. I think it's so weird when people say I'm "cute"....I think they just feel sorry for me. My belly is not cute and I don't see how a 37-year-old pregnant woman can possibly be "cute".
  • Oh I feel you! I have had multiple people comment on how big my bump is, and a couple guesses that have left me shocked, i.e., "You look 8 months pregnant!" from my MIL, and "How many more weeks, 5-6?" from a stranger. Lovely. I have 16 weeks to go, people!

I always envisioned myself a cute, petite pregnant lady and instead I feel fat and self-conscious. But I must say, I am glad to be past the 'bloated' phase and into the 'definitely pregnant' phase!
  • I'm definitely feeling ginormous!! My clients keep asking me if I'm close.  Believe me, I throw out the twin card every chance I get!

When I first got pregnant with my son, I thought for sure I would relish the bump and love the way I looked.  I was so surprised to have all my old body image issues come up as I gained weight!  It's hard because even though I know it's good because the babies are growing, it's still feel "fat".
  • Yup. I hit the stage where I just feel awful. Only 12 more weeks...

  • I dont mind the bump and its getting pretty huge. But the rest of me is ...blech! I was looking down at my thighs yesterday noticing how drastically farther apart my thigh tattoos are now, they have ''moved'' towards the outside because of all the weight gain. I want my nicely centered thigh tattoos back please :( [of course after a happy healthy baby is born many many weeks from now] But yeah, right there with you....
  • I find that exercising really helps with these feelings. I bought a great pregnancy video plan that goes by in kind of monthly increments. A lady in New Zealand who is a physical trainer and has some focus on pelvic floor strength and avoiding damaging the stomach muscles as they spread. First session I did was 2 days ago at 27w. Man, did I get frustrated (and I've been exercising!), but it did kick my butt in a good way. Was very sore yesterday with all the glute exercises.

Also, I went out and bought a bunch of "fashion" necklaces and earrings to bring some "pop" to my wardrobe. That helped. My bump isn't that big (maybe bc I am long waisted and this is my first) but man, I never noticed how wide I am from the side! Even my 10w preg shots show a very wide rib cage!!

  • @peregrinefalconx Good strategies!

I feel a lot like everyone else here... I'm pretty small normally and have a hard time dealing with my widening butt and thighs.  I'm okay with my bump, it's just the other growing areas that bother me.  I also HATE the "cute" comments.  I got one the other day from a woman at work and it was even said in such a patronizing way.  She's very sweet but I felt like punching her.

  • @TheHauntedHauswife  I actually got a fright when I saw my thighs yesterday in my usual black leggings. They certainly have grown and I am not pleased about that either.

I am measuring 5 weeks ahead and my doc told me not to gain any more weight* so it's medically confirmed that I am HUGE. I deal with it by taking extra-good care of my hair, skin, makeup, etc. It helps me feel okay neck up when I feel like a dumpy lumpy fatass below the neck. I would try to dress nicely too, but my mat wardrobe sucks and I am too cheap to buy anything else when I work from home and it's my last pregnancy. I try to do what I can, but my bump is rapidly outgrowing everything I own!

*Because of the reason I am huge (polyhydramnios), I am also prohibited from exercising--even going for walks. So that's not a fix for me right now, unfortunately!
